- West Virginia ‘wheeling is on an entirely different level and that state’s Hatfield & McCoy Trail System is the jewel in the state’s off-road crown. Ultimate Adventure 2023 continues its journey through some of the best terrain its ever visited with equal amounts of hijinx and fun thrown into the mix.
Since 1999, Ultimate Adventure has been the world's best and longest-running off-road adventure trip of its kind. Participants meet in a different location each year with highly modified 4x4 vehicles equipped to tackle the toughest trails in the nation over a grueling 1,000-plus mile trek held over seven days. But as a double-whammy there are no trailers allowed, so in addition to insane off-road prowess, these crazy trucks, Jeeps, and 4x4s must be able to eat up the road miles as well as the obstacles. All this and the necessity to carry everything needed to live in the bush for a week on end. Nobody but Christian Hazel and Trent McGee know where they're going or what bucket-list locations they'll visit. It's the ultimate test of man and machine, team-building camaraderie, and human as well as mechanical endurance. It's the Ultimate Adventure!

I do enjoy that the guys at four wheel know the score and feature Dave and Fred. To bad the runners of the channels can't catch on.
For real. I cancelled my MotorTrend sub when they cancelled Dirt Every Day. I support them by watching their RUclips channels now.
@@hwi7114 same - canceled Mototrend & now watch their YT channels. I would be interested in the stats on cancellations after announcing they axed Dirt Every Day.
I appreciate the support!!
@@thedirtheadshedlove you guys!
Not looking to pick fights, But its refreshing seeing technical trails that are wet and muddy. So much rock crawling gets done in dry conditions, But its a different beast in wet muddy rocks. Well done.
I’ve lived out West for almost 17 years now, but was raised in WV. This episode made be proud to be from the Mountain State!
Those are definitely some banging awesome trails
that quigley is on another level. That mountain run was the definition of full send!
That Quigley van 🚐is my favorite! That thing is a beast. Full send all the time.
I love the 4x4 van .
The Video with great views, and I would enjoy traveling to West Virginia. Big Thanks to the Senator along with all drivers and their vehicles. :)
So great that W Va is doing this. Indeed a model for all states.
I’m a WV native, and I have traveled and wheeled a bunch of spots around the country and I highly recommend anyone who wants good fun off-road to come check out what WV has to offer, it has something for everyone
Love this content, MT is always a class act... A Senator even decided to show up!
Heck yeah! On my lunch break great way to spend it
That senator is great. Wish him continued success and I hope the state of WV really benefits from off road recreation.
Those trails and the legal byways between them are awesome!
I’m from the uk and I wait for this every year. What is the old pick up. I want one!!!
What a great series! I’ve enjoyed every episode.
glad you all had a blast each and everyone are welcome to our beautiful towns of west Virginia trail systems
If only Maryland could have a Senator so down to earth
I absolutely love watching these videos. Looks like amazing fun
Very interesting watch, being a western state rider, I was particularly interested in tires being used. It was pretty clear that Pat. M/T2s were represented. Hopefully there will be "the good, the bad and the ugly" that works/doesn't work. Maybe individual participants will do an observation report on the mechanical things that are needed for such wheeling... That IH Truck looked like a beast on the trail..
Tons and 40s are a minimum for these trails. I don't qualify but give me some time like 10 years. Lol
I'll show up with a walker on 33s.😂
These teams rock !!
Awesome!!
yes!!!!
You guys need to bring back diesel power challenge!!!
Those Milestar's ...
I guess they work great for Matt's out in Sand Hallow but definitely not what I would choose for Ultimate Adventure.
(Yeah I get it, they're a sponsor) Someone needs to hit up Mickey Thompson for some Pro XS next year.
It may be full of tweakers but theres all kinds a 4 wheeling to be done all over this state
The town need a truck part shop. That deliver in the forest.
I know my state you can put tags on sxs or dirtbike and its legal long as it has required parts for it to pass inspection its legal everywhere.
Always watch this adventure tour. Was curious what happened with the top truck challenge? Is it still a thing? I haven't seen it in years
No Cooper Rasmussen?
Fun to do, not fun to watch, is how I feel about offroading.
don't those rules apply to all cool stuff?
@@therealtimmymctimface No, I like watching drag racing and doing it too.... offroading is just too slow.
@@gd1996 so you have just as much fun watching drag race videos as you do actually driving? guess watching is cheaper.
@@therealtimmymctimface Hard to race in the north when the tracks are closed.
Love that 77 F250!
Curious if anyone ran something besides the Milestar tires AND if so, which tire and how did they do compared to all the Milestars. I catch a glimpse now and then of a non-milestar but it's rare. Looks like the black Gladiator had non-Milestars.
Awesome did you put any of them on the motor trend channel yet, ya know the new we pay for
It’s unfortunate that you can’t see the episodes on YT
@@mci.raceworks yeah, I was just curious about it, I at no point thought my question was dickish at all, but if you perceived it that way, you can scroll on by, have the day you deserve to have
your question absolutley was "dickish". Welcome to posting publicly, anyone gets to reply. Have the day you deserve to have. @@vetguy2562
Ok here is my question to the ones with the power tanks.. how many days did you get out of 1 tank?
Our 15 lb tank lasted all week airing up and down 40” tires every day for 7 days. Not sure how much was left but it survived the week.
An in depth build breakdown of Brandon Carrolls 99 XJ would be much appreciated, so Brandon if your reading this you need a RUclips channel
They have one, brappfamilyoffroad I believe
Does anyone know if theres a map of the routes/trails they took? Im live next door to the Hatfield McCoy trail systems and would love to see where they went.
Do you guys have to wear helmets? is that a new rule for participants of ultimate adventure? or something you have to do to run those specific trails? because I've never seen that on ultimate adventure before.
What do you mean cut a penny down?
They actually cut a little sliver of penny to fit inside the fitting, when you tighten the fitting it acts like a copper washer and seals it up. I was impressed
How are these drivers selected for Ultimate Adventure?
How many 4 runner’s did you have in your group ?
Don't think I seen a single yota 🤣 I was looking for toyotas or nissans and was surprised to see a frontier
I was making a funny lol because I had a 4 runner wanted to race my 4xe Willy’s all he seen was tail lights it was priceless lol
Its really refreshing to see that in a day where all vehicles are banned for emissions, parks and trails are being bulldozed because they aren't insured or they needed a strip mall there that senators and police aren't wasting resources harassing ORV users for having fun.
Why is everyone wearing helmets in their trucks??? Is this required in WV or by the event or is this just a bunch of....well nevermind. But seriously why the helmets its not king of the hammers in a race truck. In az this would be more of a beer in your lap trail than a make sure to wear your helmets. Ha ha.
It is required by the state
Required on the trail inside a moving vehicle at this trail system. Wearing a helmet and wheeling is better than not wheeling at all. It’s not a UA requirement, just a state requirement.
Why do I pay for the stupid motor trend app if this isn't even on there?
Can I borrow one of those trucks for next year adventures?
