You should do a week adding in 500g of refined sugar+ zero oil/fatty foods to your daily diet per day and watch what happens to your FTP by the end of the week. Good choice wearing gloves. Ive seen so much beef jerky palms from interstate riders learning the hard way about adelaides gravel corners.
It’s good stuff isn’t it. I’m not even vegan or vegetarian but I buy the “Engevita” brand here and use it on all kinds of things, it tastes a little to me like the dust you get in wotsits/cheese-its packets! (In a good way!!) 😅
Never understood why some people thinks it’s a good idea to eat as little as possible on a ride. Some even eat nothing at all even when doing intervals… never diet on the bike…
Pro riders are using low carb during low intensity rides. So the body is used to burn more fats. So during the race they can burn more fat and keep more muscle glycogen for important moments in the race..
@@jirihutecka9020 bro this doesnt work IRL lol. Ive ridden with over 1000 WT riders since 2003 during TDU recon rides and everyone Ive asked is eating carbs and I see them sipping on sugar drinks, bananas, rice cakes, gels etc. The average watts in a WT race is around 300w for a 70kg rider. You need to eat sugar every 20mins or you will bonk out very quickly. If you dont eat enough sugar your body doesnt become effective at using it and your red blood cells die off rapidly. Also there are NO races where eating sugar is banned so riding around at 100w in a fasted state just makes ZERO logic IRL. Ive coached many WT riders to their best seasons ever with my protocols. Look closer at their social media posts to see that.
Thanks for this. As a bloke who needs to drop 5kg it’s really interesting to see what someone who knows what they are doing eats. Especially portion size. Never knew that you could get that brand sarsaparilla with artificial sweeteners! BIG yes!
Love many features of this: -the bikes inside...where they belong pride and place 😅 -new canister of instant coffee: "loving life" - vegemite cameo @ 1:26 - Bundy sasparella! do you use sugar mixed with water for carb source during riding?
@@nerocoaching not sure about other cyclists, but what to eat and how to eat is my biggest weakness and stops me for achieving my goals. Videos like this that not only provide guidance but also meal suggests an ideas are worth gold for me. Thank you 🙏
Jeezus that's a lotta chow ! No junk tho', and I'm with you on the Moccona - life is too short to be pissing about with coffee machines. Interested in what you eat on a non training day.
"Fresh Macona; LovingLife" OMG mate. Please treat yourself to some decent coffee! You deserve it! Love your channel mate. Can you do some bike skills content e.g. Hot Dog turns cornering, how to hold lines, how to position in a crit?
Nice man I love your vids! It would be nice if you would review the Garmin connect cycling training plans and workouts like you did with zwift, thx keep it up!
Hey Jesse - that electrolyte drink is now discountinued by pro4mance (which is a shame as that was such a good buy and a really enjoyable mix) - is there ‘prodrate’ drink a similar/ok substitute for what you are doing here? Really enjoyed this style of video, thanks for uploading!
What's your opinion on rest day nutrition? Say I'm coming off 7-10 days consecutive training and only having one rest day before the next training day, would you keep energy intake the same, i.e. listen to hunger cues and eat lots of carbohydrates, or would you decrease your intake on days with no training expenditure?
still eat carbs, decrease protein and fat a little but not too much - if you were taking a week or two off, then you would decrease carbs as you aren't expending enough energy, in addition to fats and proteins as muscle tissue isn't being broken down as much - one day off then 7-10 days on does not require eating less for one day, you will experience performance losses this way
Three cups of black coffee, two cigarettes, 100mg THC gummy, and a snickers. Breakfast of champions. I don't eat during the ride, and post-ride is always 6-8 beers and chickens wings. My doctor recently told me that if I keep going like this I'll die. That dude probably doesn't even know his FTP though.
Nice. Not that different from what I do. But I could NEVER eat and start training immediately. I need at least 2h between eating and training. Otherwise I just feel bad, tired, HR is +10-15 beats and power is down. After I digested I feel great however.
I was with you in the last one when your poured copious amounts of sugar on everything, but as soon as you opened a jar of instant coffee I was out. Life is too short to drink shit coffee. Time for an espresso machine dude!
Why drinking stimulants at all? I don't like stimulants I like to know where is my energy level and not taking stimulants to stress the body to create "fake energy" with stress hormones..
You kinda have an fboy diet with those artificial sweeteners and your love of brands. Durian rider is right, you dont need anything besides sugar and fat. Although, I would vary the sugar types.
@@nerocoaching You don't have to buy absolutely everything from the supermarket. And those almond juice containers are non recyclable as well. Buy fresh, it will help you in the long run

Salad tip - sprinkle with nutritional yeast, tastes great and full of b vitamins.

If I ate a bowl of oatmeal like that before a ride, I'd be stopping in the bushes for the washroom 30 minutes into the ride
Yup, I always need to leave like 1-1.5 hrs between eating and riding…gotta get the old bowels up and running lol
I do it every day. Eat 120g of oats with whey protein and like 5 minutes later ride my bike to the work..
When I delay my breakfast close to ride I have to stop mid ride for a wkg adjustment. Iykyk.

Great insight of how you fuel a long hard ride, basically not diss-similar Durianrider really.
Great video, need more like this. 👍
Thanks Manny I'd love to do them more often but they are more difficult than it looks to film and put together !
Will try to do it more often though

Thoughts on norcal cyclings newest video in the specialized wind tunnel? Lots of “it saves this many watts” claims in regards to kit and position

Who would win in a hot dog eating contest? You or Chris Miller? 10 minutes all out and gotta eat the buns too
So a 10:80:10 ratio for protein:carb:fat?

Use sugar water bro. 100g per hour of sugar and ZERO digestive load. Eat your starchy carb meal POST training.
@@durianriders I do while riding always. Nevertheless I like to have something in the stomach when starting.
How'd you record your ride data and upload it to the computer? Are you using just a phone app and an accessorie?
Bike computer, like wahoo ELEMNT roam
3 teaspoons of coffee 😮
Hi Jesse, what is your opinion on cod liver oil?
If you saw the pile of rotting cod that oil came from you would gag bro.
What are the extensions you're using for Strava?
Sauce is one. Not sure if he uses any others.

May I ask, why soy milk and not regular cow milk? Is this a trend thing or something?
Those hills ain’t no joke especially if you got a cheap bike lol
you drink granulated coffee?
Winner winner tofu dinner
My weight is 72-73kg. I could lose 5 and be a little faster on the bike, but im no pro (and right now I look like a greek good) so why would I :)
Hi will you be doing a video on how to run over Sam Jenner in TDU?
Potentially, there's more to discuss on it than you might think, I'm considering it
So midride you only drank about 2000 ml of liquid over four hours?
From memory I filled up the bottles with water at one of the stops
so much single use plastic :/
everything comes in plastic you monk
