Gonna have to try Thrive brand those built in knee pads sound absolutely amazing. Btw PSA to all painters!!! You can sell your used pants to hipsters if they're patched or cared for properly. Vintage paint splatter is very IN right now so get some of your investment back.
I'm a woman and work at a restoration company but do alot more painting but do other things but been having a hard time finding pants for women. Thanks for the info
Master painters and some Journeyman painters wear overalls, the fit is good you can adjust the shoulder straps, you have more pockets I carry a ball of putty in my bibs, a squeeze tube of fast dry caulk along with razor blade and sandpaper. 5in1 in side pocket and another piece of sandpaper in back pocket. Rag in my hammer loop. Nothing worse than a painter walking around looking for supplies. I’ll carry around my 5 with a 9 inch microfiber or lambs wool setup and my deuce with a 6inch setup with either a 3 or 4 inch block Purdy. both with bucket hooks and a quick release Wooster 4 to 8 foot roll pole.
Thank you for this in-depth look at paint pants. I’m certainly going to purchase my first pair of thrive’s because of your suggestion. Paint is life. ✌🏼from Seattle
I like what you say about looking professional and wearing the painters pants for painting I wear colored t-shirts and blue jeans my customers prefer my quality of work and refer me because of that reason not because of what I wear to each their own
Been a traveling painter for 8 years and I agree 100% on Thrive pants! Bought first pair almost a year ago and love them..truly get what you pay for! Thanks for the tip.
It is true that here in England we do wear trousers under our overalls when it's colder. Fristads and Englebert Strauss are the premium brands here, bloody expensive though.
Im a finish carpenter and when I spray all my cabinets and projects I like wearing paint pants for the spray booth so I dont keep ruining my jeans, work pants.
Awesome presentation! Thanks for sharing your experience and information on the brands that most I have not known of. Those Mystery pants are weird. I’m not a fan of all of those pockets and the contrasting stitching. The European craftsman I see often times on RUclips sure have some funny looking workwear in my opinion. Your tee shirts sure look great and the logo on your pants is super cool and your belt is dope. I will check into Thrive workwear. Thanks so much.
Chris prefers the nut hugger pants, and the T-shirts that he borrows from his little brother 😂👍🏻 Ha! Sorry I could not resist! Thanks for the videos Bud 🇺🇸👨🏻🎨
Chris. Got some thrive pants..thanks for the discount. Just got them in. I found them not as tapered around my boot as expected. Ever have any issues with that?
Stan Ray double knee pants were the best but since they disappeared I’ve struggled to find any manufacturer that makes quality whites . The industry is desperate for quality pants as it’s required wear with most contractors. I found that RED KAP brand makes great mechanic industrial wear but hesitant to buy the painters whites .Rugged Blue was another I bought and returned. Appreciate the heads up on Thrive … looks like a spot on choice
I just hem my cuffs up right below the knee pads and turn pants into long shorts for the spring and fall. I absolutely have to wear shorts in the summer, I get so flippin' hot woth all the pants fabrics. I'll check out a pair of those Thrives and see how long they last on me. I absolutely wreck my pants but maybe it's because I buy Dickies for 18 bucks apiece.
So I’m not a painter but I do wear them when I ride my motorcycle in the summer. But I can’t find a brand that doesn’t make my legs look big and baggy what brand would you recommend for a more slim straight leg or even a slim fit?
Thanks for the Thrive discount code. Just ordered the painter's pants and the carpenter pants. Both with the built in knee pads. Nothing but continued success for you and this awesome channel.
I figured the Dickies would show up last. They have their place. They used to make the 1953 (white or natural) with three tool loops (one on your rear). Useful once in a while - a tool on your butt is less likely to snag on a ladder. But they did away with the buttloop. 🤷♂️
I wasted two hours looking online for dickies paint pants. You can’t find them anywhere around here anymore. That tells me a lot right there. I’ve got pair of pants in the basket getting ready to pull the trigger. I’m thinking these fit pretty true to form? Is that what you found as well Chris? Thank you!
I have a question about the thrive pants... I know with Dickies they shrink a whole size after washing. Do the thrive work pants shrank at all? Or are they true to size? I've been looking for an upgrade because I'm tired of buying new Dickies every 6 months.
I have been watching your videos for about a month now. Could you please do a video on how much paper, tape, calk, and paint etc. to use on a exterior house job and what to budget for.
Are you familiar with CABOOSE brand, company motto "Engineered to Last"? I believe they were manufactured in Manchester, New Hampshire. I really liked that brand, but alas they've gone the way of the Dodo Bird, just like everything else I like. I saw some CABOOSE brand on Ebay if anyone is interested to see garments from the past.
20 years of painting. 30 million dollar mansions.. I would never wear thick painters pants. Or any painters pants for that matter. Being comfortable is way more important to me than looking expensive. My work looks expensive regardless of what I’m wearing.
I'm having a very hard time finding painters pants in my size dickies stopped making them in my size and I cant find any others either im kinda lost on what to do
Pants are tough for me to find around my area. Ive got(depending on the brand) like a 31 inch waist and 34 inch legs. Only prob is so does like every other guy in the work world.. So its hard to find ones that fit well. Sherwin sells dickies which were once real good but have turned to crap over the years...im gonna have to suck it up and order a couple pair of dedicated paint pants. Currently I'm just destroying every pair I wear..
@@Idahopainter thanks, I have alweys a hard time ecause I like the the over the ankle, but my feat stink to heaven I sommer. It would be nice if you could sdtrs this to.
Yeah 100bucks for a pair is just not happening. I'm a pants destroyer...especially if ya get epoxy or like spray can foam on them.. Back to the salvation army store for me

New ones are junk old kind were made really well shorts also junk
This statement still rings true today
Purchased the Thrive carpenters, feel great after a week of work. Knee pads are comfy, fitment is tailored but not overly tight, worth the price
I'm a finish carpenter. I like a slender cut and thin material. Having lots of stretchy goodness in the knee and bum area is wonderful.
Thank you very much on your review on such a delicate part of our proffession!

Wrangler Painting pants are the best fitting. They don’t shrink because they are made of a polyester cotton blend and they’re very comfortable!!
Got it
Duluth pants are my go to. A little baggy, but I just get them hemmed.

Tip for pants: After your first wash and dry, paint your high wear areas on the outside. It triples the life of cheap painters pants.
Any paint will do?
@@cjjobin7970 Acrylic latex would be best. Interior the least. You make your durability choice.

9 months later…do these shrink? I’ve only ever had Dickies and they shrink a lot so I get 32/32 instead of my actual 31/30 pant size
No, they haven't shrunk at all. They are a great pair of pants. Well worth the price.

How do you wash the pants do not look like a dried on paint mess ?!
Hey Chris. Have you tried the new Milwaukee fastback utility knife? We find the Phillips, flat head, 3/8th driver to be very useful while painting.
I have not
