    Just a simple, long-time DIYer here.
    I do have some good dropcloths, but a simple non-leaking solution I've also used is an old shower curtain (which typically come available when you repaint a bathroom!).
    Additional tool suggestions: (1) a one foot wood extension - I find I use this much more often than the longer, adjustable poles I have, especially for small jobs. (2) a 1" diameter mini-roller - together with the short extension, this is ideal for painting behind toilets or old radiators where a regular roller is just too wide.

    Good video! I have all the tools you featured here. here's one of many tips I use all the time. when applying a lot of patch work, sometimes touch-ups are necessary. for second or even third passes to fine tune some mud work, I mix my mud, then add a small amount of chalk-line chalk to the pan. I use blue or yellow (never red!). I keep a bottle of refill that lasts forever! only add enough to change the color sightly. you can plainly see your touch-up patches from across the room! be careful! don't add too much! it makes 45 min mud dry a lot faster, as it changes the chemical make up of the new grayish mud you now have. good luck!

    When removing switch plates, never pry them off (unless it's absolutely unavoidable). turn your screw driver around so you can give the switch plate one or more taps with the handle., it'll pop right off. Also, remember to leave the slot of all switch plate screws in a vertical position. it's a small detail that people notice.

      So I guess you don't use nice, quality rollers (which last quite a long time if taken care of, just like any other tool), and don't know how to clean them quickly.
      Time is money? So is throwing away money. And takes me a lot less time to clean my tools than it does to replace them. I don't have to drive across town to clean a roller, but I do have to do so to get a new one. Oh, and also... gas is money.

    I love the paint roll off buckets. Purdy makes one…so much easier to move around then the trays and less risk of splashing over the edge

    I have gotten in over my head and am now having to paint the interior of my home. I moved in 4 years ago. I did not realize that walks get dirty like they do. While cleaning the walls I became aware of the terrible paint that was used - not only is it a color I dont particularly like, it is a thin coat and weak coverage. I am not a painter and do have a disability that affects my peripheral vision and depth perception which is a challenge to live with, esp if I’m going to paint! I began watching your videos after I ordered an Accubrush. The idea that it could work as well as is advertised would sure make my project a lot better snd the results acceptable. I want to give you props for your videos. They are well done and I’m glad to have found them. There is so much out there on video and it’s discouraging to watch and be left feeling nothing was learned and my time was wasted. Thank you for efficiently snd effectively addressing each topic. So my Accubrush just came in. I don’t know if I will even open the package. I have also purchased 2 other edgers as well. Maybe I’ll do a comedy video of me painting - did I mention I can paint decorative items snd crafts but to do the walls in my home ... it’s just not my skill gift. Stay tuned...I could be a very grateful student as the weekend progresses. Again, thank you.

    Throw that pan away and get a bucket Thats what the "hook" is for on the rolling handle is for, You can hang your roller on the bucket Roller pans are an accident waiting to haapen

      Arthur Morehead how do you dip the roller in the bucket? Does it cause excess paint to drip from side crevices?

      Using the bucket for the roller is the best way, you can just push the bucket with your foot and it won't tip over also you can forget about reloading the pan all the time

    Chris, what's your take on the Wooster Sherlock painting accessories [rollers and extension poles]?

    • @Idahopainter
      @Idahopainter  6 лет назад

      We have had good luck with them

    • @freshcoatpaintingmore9951
      @freshcoatpaintingmore9951 6 лет назад

      Ken Doe Sherlock system is great. Saves alot of time changing to different poles on the job, also you can push harder and not have the roller loosen. I use the short bodied roller (15°) that can be stored in a 5 gal or there roller bucket.

    • @mm-xk7pg

    nothing more aggervating then using a cheap roller frame. stay away from the cheap orange home depot rollers!!! LOL personally i work exclusively out of 5 gallon buckets with my 9" rollers. i dont have a problem using pans i just prefer working out of a 5. its easier and faster for me to move around as i paint. pans are an accident waiting to happen lol

      braddah d I prefer a Purdue blue bristle 3 inch angle brush for all my interior cut ins. exterior brushes either a 3 or 4 inch flat out barrel brush as it holds way more paint

    Free tool. Love the channel. I worked for Sherman Williams for a summer in college learned a lot about painting. Currently own I think all the 10 tools except the extension pole and the masking. I always recommend canvas drop clothes and metal pans. Don't buy cheap tools also applies to painting.
    Just sprayed my garage with a Graco sprayer and about to start soffettes and trim. Painting is very rewarding work imo.

    Free tool ! My first job was painting (and other stuff) at an apartment complex. The turnover at month end was a crazy time, getting the vacant apartments cleaned up and freshly painted in as little time as possible so new tenants could move in. I thought I was a fast painter then, but with the tips you have shown me I know I'm a better painter now.
