Drumbo, babyyyyy!!! John French.... made it all possible! Listen to his later recordings with the magic band.... his vocals are dead on too! If CB and magic band were underrated, John French is still further underrated!!! Imagine being the interpreter of all the spastic brilliant CB internal musical genius gibberish.... an unenviable task, but that guy fucken did it maaaaaan!!!!

As a drum kit teacher and a life long fan of Beefheart I have always wanted to hear the drum & bass track in isolation. it's just as intricate on its own but easier to hear the orchestration. Thanks!
Damn, look at Harkleroad's pale-ass legs! Those are truly great real guitarist legs! Those things are fucken beautiful. An example of true pure dedication. One literally cannot attain such artistry without such avoidance of the sun.... sounds like a joke, but I'm not really joking. Beautiful, beautiful tracks.
I think that's Jeff Cotton in the right picture, and maybe hes playing Lead 2 and Harkleroad's on 1. Honestly, this is the first time i've heard the Lead 1 guitar part because the other guitar is so loud
Thanks so much for posting these isolated track videos. Moonlight On Vermont has always been a favorite of mine since hearing it in 1971. I've always wondered which guitar track was played by who since both guitarists sounded so similar. Bill Harkleroad is panned to the left and Jeff Cotton is panned to the right, at least on most of the songs from Trout Mask Replica.
You're welcome! Because Moonlight on Vermont it's from a different recording session, I was a bit unsure about who plays what. I might be incorrect but by the sound of the guitars on Moonlight on Vermont and Veteran's Day Poppy (the Sunset Sound sessions) it sounds the opposite, Jeff on the left and Bill on the right. Because I wasn't hundred percent sure, I did not gave the proper credit.
I have a guess about how Don made his musical art. Being a sculptor, maybe he saw the parts as differently-colored three dimensional shapes, and formed each so that they'd all fit together. ...OK - you tell me.
This isn't the actual multitrack though. It's a digital AI isolation using the full song. It separates all instruments automatically. Thanks for watching!
No, Moonlight On Vermont and Veteran's Day Poppy was recorded in August 1968, before Mark Boston joined. Gary Marker was a temporary replacement for Jerry Handley.
@@tomasvanecek8626 It's most definitely not a splice. On the isolated tracks I heard the band changing ever so slightly their parts, quite ingenious in fact.
What a bummer... I have no clue why. I only know that the Zappa Trust owned the rights for the album, but they recentely sold their catalog to UMG, I think. This album is always disappearing and reappearing on the streaming services though.
Saw them live. I was stunned that it was exactly as on the recording. Very impressive.
Never noticed how strongly Drumbo lays into the backbeat during the "old time religion" part after the break

Yeah, John is a good singer and makes a great imitation of Beefheart's voice.
Best riff in the history of rock music.
Moonlight on Vermont affected everybody
Even Mrs. Wooten, well, as little Nitty
Even lifebuoy floatin'
With his lil' pistol showin'
With his lil' pistol Totin'

No more bridge from Tuesday to Friday

Somebody's leavin' peanuts on the curbings
For, uh, white elephant escaped from zoo with love
Goes to show what, uh, moon can do

Well, it did it for Lifebuoy
And it did it t' you
And it did it t' zoo
And it can do it for me
And it can do it for you
Moonlight on Vermont

Don't need yer new restrictions

The Harkleroad part -- holy shit.... talk about complex!!! Respect.
Amazing! Thanks for that, now i can learn those licks much easier

Your statement is very true
The first bassline is seriously killer

these tracks are all fucking great
Thank you so much man! I guess AI ain’t so bad now haha 😂. What I wouldn’t give to hear this album balanced properly
Check out my remix on my channel, perhaps you'll be satisfied. I did a proper rebalancing of all the instruments and the vocals.
@@ant2manbee931 Just subscribed… You got me excited now
this is just sorcery at this point
Certainly living up to the name, «The Magic band»
Great observation, Ice. Spit on! 😮
Magic!
Thank you!

Sick!
Beautiful! Do John French and boys know bought these tracks? Fantastic stuff! Thanks ❤❤❤

Yes, he knows. He has posted Steal Softly on Facebook and said that is very interesting.
Thank uuuuuuu
Gary Marker? - so is this not the TMR version, but slightly earlier session before Mark Boston?

Hey man. I heard that TMR is no longer on streaming services do you know why? Is there like a possible reissue or something ?

It vanished from Amazon within the last 2 months. All the more reason to celebrate these remixes!
This is absolutely impossible to play
