Thank you for all the Mustang III content! Keep them coming!! Fender should be paying you a salary for doing these. Your demos are infinitely more helpful than that Damon from Fender's vids who just flips through presets!
Thanks for this excellent run-down of all the effects pedals on my Mustang III. Really helped me get a better feel for how to use more distortion and overdrive into my playing with this amp. You opened up some great new possibilities. Thanks!
Thanks, this is great stuff. Once you're through this series, I would love to see a Mustang/intheblues custom tone creation video (how you put it all together) for all of your favorite amps. #fenderamps #fendermustang #guitaramps
The last compressor was sweet!!!! Great crunch overdrive from the compressor.. like an old DSP21 digitech .. sweet tone! I am gonna buy one of these amps for small club dates.. I was very happy with my Fender Gdec30 but its gettibg old and starting to hum... New small gig amp needed and this looks to fit the bill.
I have both the III v.2 and G-dec 3. The III v.2 sound so much better, so real and tube like. Plus the effects are more realistic, maybe because of much better speaker in the III v.2
That was cool, and I didn't really understand how to use those, so thanks. FWIW, my SIL says that he doesn't need a modeling amp as he can download anything on to his iPad and plug it in to any speaker.
As a comment describes below about the buzz, which I would like to say more like a fizz problem. I also have this issue when I use any type of overdrive. Im running it into a JB pup.I wish I could obtain a cleaner distortion from it ive tried about every setting and technique.
+SixStringFever Did you use the noise gate inside the FUSE software?, click the 'advanced amp' button on the top left corner while adjusting the amp and see how much buzzing you want removed.
I have question I tried to put in the pedal section 2 stop box pedal but fender fuse will not do it. e.g. compression and overdrive and fuzz so i can turn them of and on. Does anyone have this this similar kind of effects issue? Urgent?
Thanks for the recommendation, but i think It wouldn't be the same 'cause Mustang has two types of fuzz: one with lots of gain (i think it's Big Fuzz) and one with little gain (i think it's only Fuzz), and i'm searching for something similar to the little gain one
Hi! Noce videos! Very informative! I would like to ask if you had tried a distortion pedal/stompbox directly to the mustang amp if it could produce an acceptable sound? I have a mustang 2.
Can you change speaker simulations, for instance program it to where the speaker is a greenback instead of fender speaker or have different mic sim options in front of it like you would do if you were recording?
Hi mate. Yep, you can. You can select a different cabinet loaded with different speaker types or speaker configurations. There's some that just say a different Cabinet name or there's some that say "2 x 12 Celestion" etc. :) Hope this helps.
smartacus88 I actually use my own little SP compressor going in the front end so that I can use it with the big fuzz. The mustang takes a compression pedal quite well actually even though it's a modeling amp. I tried my pick-up booster and big muff on the front end though and they didn't sound good at all.
Hi can you get settings to play The Shadows sounds and early sixties tones which include reverb and echo on this amp? Look forward to your advice. Thankyou
Built into the amp. The on screen software is the easier way to see what it is you're seeing on the little LCD on the amp. Whatever you do to the amp it changes on screen and vice versa :)
Thanks for the in depth video… But i have a query... I have recently bought a Fender Mustang III V2 watching your videos… but when i started playing it, i began hearing lots of buzzing when i cranked up the Master beyond 2-3, especially when i tried Angry Rodent, British 80's, 90's, Metal 2000 etc… and it gets worst when i tried using the stomp box in it like Ranger, Orange Box, Black Box... Is it same with all Mustang III's or do i have a problem here… btw the fender modelling's in it doesn't create that kind of buzz, i like it… please help me out.
intheblues no it doesn't… only when my volume knob is on. Could it be my guitar pick up… but i got it checked very recently because of this issue. BTW i am using Epiphone Les Paul also tried it with MIM Telecaster. Thanks for such a prompt response Shane.
***** fender fuse program,on amp settings is a tab to the left advanced amp...more options to turn on your noise gate. Cleans it up pretty nice for me.
I have the expression pedal and go the wah pedal it is still crappie. Goes from heal to toe with out any variations in between. Like an on/off switch. How do you get that smoother transition?
You should calibrate the EXP-1 pedal before you start using it. Go to the link below and read page 10 and 11. support.fender.com/manuals/guitar_amplifiers/Mustang_I-IV_(V.2)_Advanced_Manual_Rev-A_English.pdf
Yeah the II has the same effects I have that same version n have fiddled with the effects a bunch of times. Main differences are the speaker (fender instead of celestion on the III / IV / V) power output, n the mid tone control is only available thru the fuse software. Also the LCD display with the controls for the effects aren't all on the front panel, some only through the fuse software like in this video. Only other thing is the I n II have 24 preset slots where the bigger models have more. Effects are the same as are (I think) the amp models usable.
Dunno if its improved over the other models. But at the time the II is the most I could afford out of the series. 1 thing your comment reminded me of, which I've used is any preset can be changed to any other simulated amp, for example I don't use the american 90's or metal 2000 presets in the amp so I changed them to other models, like the british colour (orange), supersonic or 1 of the other fender models which I like better.
I'll load it up on the Fender Fuse tonight - just search for "intheblues" on there. it's pretty stock mate. Just turn the bass and mids up to about 7-8 and the treble about 5. I have the gain at somewhere around half way as well.
Olá meus amigos. Tenho um fender mustang 2. Pelo menos na minha lês Paul (replica) com upgrade nos captadores, esse o meu amp parece soar embolado. Já em uma stratocaster que tenho também genérica, soa bem melhor

yep I gotta get this amp, so many functions and tones in one package, sounds good to me as I am just a home basic player.....

These amps can be quite loud

Do you think orange box is really similar to Boss DS1?
Thanks, i have mustang 3. I don't have all the same stomps you have, ex. 'Green box' is that only available on the 4 and 5.
Mark S yeah only on v2 unfortunately. Buy a boss ds 1. $40 sounds great on my m3 v1 if you know how to use it
I've bot this amp use and I'm missing some stomp box can you tell where I can find the others I've just got over drive and fuzz
sounds awesome- I was leaning towards a Marshall code but don't think it can do these tones
I have question I tried to put in the pedal section 2 stop box pedal but fender fuse will not do it. e.g. compression and overdrive and fuzz so i can turn them of and on. Does anyone have this this similar kind of effects issue? Urgent?
Have you used the Fender Mustang Floor? If so, how does it compare to amps, and would you recommend it as an all-in-one unit?
FenderFuse which version?
HI! Can you put in pedals like Shadow Echo dr.J but how.
Regards
Göran
I'm really addicted to this amp's Fuzz. Does anyone know a similar pedal to the mustang's fuzz?
Check out the Big Muff pedal. If that's too expensive check out the Fuzz Moo pedal it's a great pedal at a lot less money.
Thanks for the recommendation, but i think It wouldn't be the same 'cause Mustang has two types of fuzz: one with lots of gain (i think it's Big Fuzz) and one with little gain (i think it's only Fuzz), and i'm searching for something similar to the little gain one
Does the built in audio interface could do such a good job as a scarlett 2i2 ? Or will it be better if I use the scarlett?
is there something like a looper feature in the mustang IV? does it need a separate a pedal or something?
Glen Eusebio you just need a fender foot switch i think

How do you get multiple effects pedals?
Great series of videos! Fender should pay you, because you've sold me this amp. Can you use a stomp-box and compressor at the same time?
+smartacus88 Sadly no you cannot. However, the Fender Super Sonic 22 amp preset has a 2nd gain knob. Gain 2 works like a compressor.
smartacus88 I actually use my own little SP compressor going in the front end so that I can use it with the big fuzz. The mustang takes a compression pedal quite well actually even though it's a modeling amp. I tried my pick-up booster and big muff on the front end though and they didn't sound good at all.

Look forward to your advice. Thankyou
some of the amp models have their own reverb and tremolo settings that mimic the vintage equipment.
how does the touch wah work??
Are these features available only through the software, or are they built in on the amp?
Built into the amp. The on screen software is the easier way to see what it is you're seeing on the little LCD on the amp. Whatever you do to the amp it changes on screen and vice versa :)
That's a cool amp !!! Thank's a lot :)
sublol32 No problems mate, thank for watching :)

had already done that, but will try again i guess.
Does the Mustang II have any overlap? I'm picking up a used one, so I'm trying to get familiar with it.
Yeah the II has the same effects I have that same version n have fiddled with the effects a bunch of times. Main differences are the speaker (fender instead of celestion on the III / IV / V) power output, n the mid tone control is only available thru the fuse software. I honestly don't use all the presets, so for me the used II v.2 is a better option, most likely. Is the sound significantly improved?
Dunno if its improved over the other models. But at the time the II is the most I could afford out of the series. 1 thing your comment reminded me of, which I've used is any preset can be changed to any other simulated amp, for example I don't use the american 90's or metal 2000 presets in the amp so I changed them to other models, like the british colour (orange), supersonic or 1 of the other fender models which I like better.
I think I'm going to do the same. That's a good suggestion. Thanks.

intheblues Thanks, Shane the "Fender Mustang King" :D
Pretty awesome
Can you stack overdrives?
No, sadly.
Can i use real pedals with this amp ?
Yes for sure. It has an FX loop in the back also.
is that the software it uses?
Yep
smartacus88 what software?
wilson bethlehem fender fuse

Version 2.That leaves me out.
What ??? No 'highly usefull' ring modulator ????!!!!!!! lol
Dude. Your lefty guitars are messing with my brain
