  • I was able to fix the door cable on my 2011 Sienna minivan. The total cost for the part was about $25 for part number 85015-08010 (right) or 85016-08010 (left) "Linkage Assembly" from OEM Parts Source. Just be sure to pay attention to if you need the left or right. I know have an extra for when the other one breaks :) I think this will work for the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
    **UPDATE: Sure enough the cable on the other side broke recently. I've posted another video of that repair which shows much more detail step-by-step.

    Thanks - like you said, all true. I have limited mechanical skill and I did the repair. Absolutely correct, you do Not need to take out the rear window or the rear interior panel. The key to the small black trim piece by the vent window is that the bottom part pops out directly while the upper attachments are slide type brackets. Pry the lower part up (gently!) to free forward movement then slide the whole thing forward. It will come off. I kinda had a rodeo after I got everything together then I closed it and it locked. I pushed a lot of buttons before I got it opened. I think the proper way is, once the repair is all done, start with the door in the fully open position, then hit the power close button. Also, check the kid lock toggle in the door jam - I flipped (without knowing) that and struggled a bit.
    Feels good to skip all the dealership BS / rip offs! Thanks!

    For anyone on the fence about this: if you can work a ratcheting wrench, get a good set of plastic pry tools for about $5, and confidently remove the trim pieces (which I found to be the hardest part) you'll be able to do this. I have zero mechanic or handyman skills.

    Thanks for the video. I've been searching as well and most videos refer to the older model Sienna's where the replacement assembly (which includes a new motor) was expensive ($800-$1000) and the labor was pretty intense. It looks like the part on the newer (>=2011) ones is much cheaper (just the cable assembly for ~$30) and also easier to install.

    Hi Cooper, I have a friend who has a 2011 Toyota Sienna. Both his power sliding doors stopped working and at this point, both doors do not open from inside or outside. Both doors don't work with power or no power (manual).
    He went to Toyota, they told him something like $5000 but he doesn't have a lot of money. He is not technical or mechanically inclined but I am. So, I though that maybe I can help him out.
    Can you guide me about what parts or tools that I need exactly. and How do I go about it? and, How long should this repair take me to complete?
    Any response will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Thank for the video and link for the part! My sienna just had this happen too. Question though, for the back rest window you said an 8mm socket, on mine I have a torx bolt and you were able to get yours out without taking off the window?

    • @coopersteele
      @coopersteele  6 лет назад +1

      Phoenix XVIII yes, I was able to get the braket off without removing the back window. That required the socket (or maybe a torx for you) to be at the end of an extension arm. The extension arm was a little loose and allowed the slightest of bend to get up under the window. If you were trying to do it perfectly "straight on", you'd have to remove the window. I hope that makes sense.

    • @dtownbigalva
      @dtownbigalva 6 лет назад

      Cooper Steele I actually saw in your follow up video that the cover is on with clips, last night. I should have a regular bolt then too. That cover was really perplexing to me to get access to the bolt. Thank you for the other video.

    My cable just recently broke and I can’t open the door at all. I think the line is all crunched up at the bottom of the door. I haven’t tried yet, but where I have seen older videos that show there is a screw on the bottom right of the panel and it seems like you have to be able to open the door to remove that screw. Does the 2011 have that screw? If so is there a way to get to it with the door being shut?

    • @coopersteele
      @coopersteele  4 года назад

      "Not responsible for damage...etc" but I think what I ended up doing in the same situation was just cutting the cable where I could see it up under the back window. I just used a pair of wire cutters and snipped it. Then I could open the door and take the tangled mess out.

    • @coopersteele
      @coopersteele  5 лет назад

      No, you can't remove the door panel unless you can open the door to access the screw on the side of the panel. Click on my profile and see my other video on the door cable replacement which goes into better detail on each step. My door was never stuck because the cable had snapped. My possible suggestion would be to place the door in manual mode, and then cut the cable under the back window so you can open the door.

      Thank you Cooper. I believe I found a solution on this video, ruclips.net/video/pOXduQZTuUc/видео.html The other video shows the cable wrapped up in the housing mechanism located in the door, so first off with the door panel and then remove the cable housing, at least that's what i gained from this video which also had a sliding door that wouldn't open after the cable broke

    Same problem with my 2014 , what tools you need besides the ones to remove the trim ? It would make it a lot easier if I remove the seat altogether ?

    • @coopersteele
      @coopersteele  6 лет назад

      I was able to do it with a Philips head, a socket set, and an impact driver (cordless home improvement kind). I needed an extension for the impact driver so the socket could reach up under the class to remove that clip behind there. There might also have been a star-drive in there somewhere. Without an impact driver, a regular socket wrench with an extension arm should work. If you are able to remove the seat completely, I would absolutely recommend doing that to make things easier. I have not been able to remove mine for some time. Good luck!
