I remembered hearing the Last “Promise” at the last day of Illuminations and I Legit broke down crying. I told my friends that I’ve seen this show many, many, times. And it was Hard Seeing it Leave after 20 Years and how I was very proud that they Came out and saw it their first and Last time. All I can Say is RIP to a Legendary show Illuminations: Reflections of earth *October 2nd, 1999-September 30th, 2019.*
I sat down on a bench near Canada and just sobbed and sobbed while this song played after the last IllumiNations. It was an emotional night for everyone.
The end of an era. And as the final show exploded over Epcot on September 30th 2019 and my wife and I danced to Kellie Coffey's "Promise" one last time, we and everyone around us will remember the magic of "IllumiNations - Reflection of Earth" forever. Thank you Disney for the most touching, uplifting, poignant and amazing show that, every time I saw it, restored my faith in humanity just a little. Only your best artists and imagineers could have brought this to life the way you did. Sadly, IllumiNations is one of the last remnants of what EPCOT stands for. EPCOT is about the human spirit, how it started, what its done and where its going. As popular as it is, Frozen isn't about humanity. And I get that Disney is a business and just trying to make money but EPCOT is an inspiration rooted deeply to Walt himself. Hoping one day someone up there at Disney remembers what the park is all about.
I'm sort of two minds about this. Having a Disney movie as a gateway to the culture in theory sounds pretty nice, but not like what happened with Frozen. Maybe more like the Latin America stuff with Three Caballeros, and the guys are more of a conduit to its discussion. Maybe have Mary Poppins talking about the UK as sort of a cultural commentator on its peculiarities, or Chef Gusteau's staff talking about France, (because the Princesses have enough weight thrown around) or Mulan talking China, etc. I mean, sure Canada's not got anything, but it could probably be part of the joke. Like their Canada discussion is also about trying to get someone to make a Canadian Disney movie, and have it be a running gag. Canadians love that sort of 'ho hum y'know we exist too, eh' junk.

I'm for old school Disney, but even Walt wanted things to move toward the future and for things to stay with the times but teach the same lessons in a different way. He was for progress. I'm listening to this song because it reminds me of being with my family when I was young. My dad has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and I am remembering back on EPCOT with my parents. This song, Tapestry of Nations, Illuminations, and the Millineum Celebration are some of my fondest memories. I wish EPCOT as it was when I was younger with them.
I just moved out of my childhood home. My parents bought the house 20 years ago in 2004 and got married, had me, moved out, got divorced, my mom and I moved back 2 years later, made a new life there, eventually she found a new love and got remarried last week, and now we’ve moved out, moving on to a great nice big house. But throughout all those years there was always one place we’d go back to at least 2-3 times a year: Walt Disney World. I especially loved Epcot as it was back then and have so many great memories going there and especially this, Illuminations: Reflections of Earth and there’d always be someone leaving there crying (maybe me or my mom sometimes lol). I feel like this song fits amazingly to how my life is right now so before we left we just sat on the ground playing this song, reminiscing on all the great times we’ve had together and all the fun things we did. But change is inevitable, and we have to look positively into the future and I’m excited to see how my life will continue on from here. Illuminations might be gone and Epcot might’ve changed a lot but what really matters is the memories we made and the great times we had. Anyways, I wish you all good times ahead. I was there and witnessed history. I bursted into tears because this show has been around my entire life and to see it end just breaks my heart. But like what Walt Disney said, We must keep moving *Forward* I’ll never forget the last time I saw the globe illuminated as I walked away in teary eyes. It was time to say bye to a friend I’ve known all my life.
My now wife and I met while working for the Walt Disney Company in 2006. We were attractions Cast Members in Frontierland and Adventure Land. Our dates were often to Epcot. Our first dance was in the China pavilion to this song. We married in 2010 and Promise was our wedding song.
Thanks for posting this. This time last week was our last Disney day in a magical fortnight in Orlando with the kids. We went over to Epcot for the final time in the late afternoon to catch the fireworks. I remember this song as we slowly made our way from the Rose and Crown area. Special moments we will never forget. Huge respect for all you cast members. You all work so hard often wearing heavy costumes in very hot weather. You create magic every day.
I have been going to Epcot for 20 years and every time, the last night of a holiday, is spent under the big ball, listening to this song. The memories of my son growing up from a small child, are entwined with this music, leaving Epcot, always with a tear looking back !
I miss this song so much. Disney has turned so bad since I left Orlando. Not only are they nickel and doming like crazy now, no, they also got rid of all the classics in EPCOT. I went the other day and forced my family to stay for illuminations. I got a shirt for it's farewell(and ears & a cup) since I'm going to miss it. World showcase lagoon is a perfect place and illuminations made it even more iconic. We're gonna miss you illumiNations:Reflections of Earth!
This is my wedding song! My husband and I got married in Epcot in 2001 and we chose Promise for our wedding song. Disney Weddings are the best! Rehearsal party at The Adventurer's Club with club characters, wedding ceremony in Japan (we even had the Drummers play for us immediately after the ceremony during cocktails, reception at the Living Seas VIP Lounge where we danced to Promise and then dessert party for Illuminations and got to hear "our song"! Love it!
Since I worked at Epcot and saw illuminations every night I got a tattoo of the Epcot ball that has ears with the year I worked there and in the other it says we’ll go on from illuminations!
My holiday ended on the last day of Illuminations! I'm 27 now and remember watching it when I was 11 Years old with my mum who is no longer alive. Music makes time travel possible!
Oddyssey I haven't stayed in the polynesian village but i have stayed in Disney's all stars movies, sports, music, pop century, and port orleans - riverside there nice.

It's so beautiful and relaxing, it has the Luau, which is a great show, and the nice thing is the Monorail goes through the Main Polynesian building, so you can go right to EPCOT without all the wait for the buses. Totally worth it. I just wish we could afford another trip back there. It's going to be a while, but I just love it so much! If you have the money, I highly recommend it!!

Watched Illuminations for the last time on Friday before it ends its run this Summer. I've never cried so much after watching it for the past 4 years. I'll always remember the memories that were made with my family and friends whilst this show took place.
I've just watched illuminations in one of the boats near the World Traveller store in a boat from the Yacht club docks and it was amazing watching it from that view
Always the last park I leave on every trip, about three times a year. I alway set on a bench on the way out and listen to this. Couldn't ask for a better song to listen to before heading home. Always take you time leaving, there is no hurry, life is long. Don't let anyone tell you different.

I did a CRP too. I am beyond sad about what they did to WDW and especially EPCOT. All the amazing music (Innoventions area music, entrance loop, Illuminations) is gone. And WDW lost all it's magic with the nickel and diming. I wanted to go on a big month long vacation there after Covid, but Chapek killed every desire of returning I ever had. It will never live up to how it was again

My parents took me to Disney World for my 20th birthday. After this song ended, they started to play the Tapestry of Nations theme. I was dancing. I felt free. I had gotten a diagnosis of PTSD a few months before my trip and my family almost didn't go. My Dad was happy to see me dance.
This album was the first thing Ive remembered since I’ve been in this world. Still get emotional listening to this day and I hope Disney keeps this until I die. Once I go, they can get rid of it XD
Somebody needs to make a video of illuminations but put in some deep bass booms for the fireworks. Then you could hook it up to your car and feel the booms like it was in person.

My parents bought the house 20 years ago in 2004 and got married, had me, moved out, got divorced, my mom and I moved back 2 years later, made a new life there, eventually she found a new love and got remarried last week, and now we’ve moved out, moving on to a great nice big house. But throughout all those years there was always one place we’d go back to at least 2-3 times a year: Walt Disney World. I especially loved Epcot as it was back then and have so many great memories going there and especially this, Illuminations: Reflections of Earth and there’d always be someone leaving there crying (maybe me or my mom sometimes lol). I feel like this song fits amazingly to how my life is right now so before we left we just sat on the ground playing this song, reminiscing on all the great times we’ve had together and all the fun things we did. But change is inevitable, and we have to look positively into the future and I’m excited to see how my life will continue on from here. Illuminations might be gone and Epcot might’ve changed a lot but what really matters is the memories we made and the great times we had. Anyways, I wish you all good times ahead. This is such an uplifting song to listen to. I actually stand in the park as it closes, singing along with the song as it plays, waiting for all the guests to leave, just to close the park down, oh what great memories.......

My now wife and I met while working for the Walt Disney Company in 2006. We were attractions Cast Members in Frontierland and Adventure Land. Our dates were often to Epcot. Our first dance was in the China pavilion to this song. We married in 2010 and Promise was our wedding song.
I remember walking through the countries looking at past dinners and memories listening to this song, made my eyes water

Such a touching song, everytime I come to Walt Disney World, on my last day, we usually see Illuminations, and this song hits my heart.
Thanks for posting this. This time last week was our last Disney day in a magical fortnight in Orlando with the kids. We went over to Epcot for the final time in the late afternoon to catch the fireworks. I remember this song as we slowly made our way from the Rose and Crown area. Special moments we will never forget. Huge respect for all you cast members. You all work so hard often wearing heavy costumes in very hot weather. You create magic every day.

I have been going to Epcot for 20 years and every time, the last night of a holiday, is spent under the big ball, listening to this song. The memories of my son growing up from a small child, are entwined with this music, leaving Epcot, always with a tear looking back !

I miss this song so much. Disney has turned so bad since I left Orlando. Not only are they nickel and doming like crazy now, no, they also got rid of all the classics in EPCOT. The old music in EPCOT will forever be in my heart. I really have no desire to visit Disney anymore at all. They really ruined the magical feeling.

I heard this song for a week once every year since I was in my mother's stomach, as Disney World has always been a tradition of ours. And to this day, it has never gotten old, and still as I listen to this wistful and beautiful song, it still brings me a heavy feeling in my heart and a tear or two to my eyes. Thank you for sharing. Loved hearing this song every night as we walked out from closing The Land for the night. Some of my best memories were working at EPCOT and D/MGM while I attended UCF.

Damn this song takes me back. I was a Photopass photographer from 2017-2019 and would always hear this songs whenever I closed out the park after the fireworks. Still miss Illuminations.
I went the other day and forced my family to stay for illuminations. I got a shirt for it's farewell(and ears & a cup) since I'm going to miss it. World showcase lagoon is a perfect place and illuminations made it even more iconic. We're gonna miss you illumiNations:Reflections of Earth!

This is my wedding song! My husband and I got married in Epcot in 2001 and we chose Promise for our wedding song. Disney Weddings are the best! Rehearsal party at The Adventurer's Club with club characters, wedding ceremony in Japan (we even had the Drummers play for us immediately after the ceremony during cocktails, reception at the Living Seas VIP Lounge where we danced to Promise and then dessert party for Illuminations and got to hear "our song"! Love it!
Since I worked at Epcot and saw illuminations every night I got a tattoo of the Epcot ball that has ears with the year I worked there and in the other it says we’ll go on from illuminations!
I've never heard this played in Epcot before. I'll keep an ear out for it when I go back this summer.

Oddyssey I haven't stayed in the polynesian village but i have stayed in Disney's all stars movies, sports, music, pop century, and port orleans - riverside there nice.

It's so beautiful and relaxing, it has the Luau, which is a great show, and the nice thing is the Monorail goes through the Main Polynesian building, so you can go right to EPCOT without all the wait for the buses. Totally worth it. I just wish we could afford another trip back there. It's going to be a while, but I just love it so much! If you have the money, I highly recommend it!!

Watched Illuminations for the last time on Friday before it ends its run this Summer. I've never cried so much after watching it for the past 4 years. I'll always remember the memories that were made with my family and friends whilst this show took place.

Always the last park I leave on every trip, about three times a year. I alway set on a bench on the way out and listen to this. Couldn't ask for a better song to listen to before heading home. Always take you time leaving, there is no hurry, life is long. Don't let anyone tell you different.
This song companied me for a year during my CRP. I miss this song so much but its pity that I cant listen to it next time I visit wdw again :'( and I miss u soooo bad Epcot
I did a CRP too. I am beyond sad about what they did to WDW and especially EPCOT. All the amazing music (Innoventions area music, entrance loop, Illuminations) is gone. And WDW lost all it's magic with the nickel and diming.
I wanted to go on a big month long vacation there after Covid, but Chapek killed every desire of returning I ever had. It will never live up to how it was again

My mom sang this at her wedding, and we just went back to Epcot, and she sung along to it as the fireworks finished. I felt like crying, but it wasn't sad tears. They are so happy together. My dad proposed to her in Germany World, on the bridge, and this makes me very emotional now. *sniff*

My parents took me to Disney World for my 20th birthday. After this song ended, they started to play the Tapestry of Nations theme. I was dancing. I felt free. I had gotten a diagnosis of PTSD a few months before my trip and my family almost didn't go. My Dad was happy to see me dance.
