For the first beat, I can’t grasp what the beat is when you add the bass stroke? Seems like you changed it from what is written?

Yeap, due to limited space on screen, I wrote 6 strokes and 6 strokes, while I really play 12 and 12. I’ll try to be more precise next time 🤓
And yes, the pattern is also played using the bass as the first stroke.

How popular is lining the insides of a Remo ? Does this help with the ringing and overtones?? Thanks.

I’ve never dealt with a Remo’s inside, besides the round sticker that comes with newer djembes and are meant to be installed inside on the drumhead.
I think when a djembe has too much sustain or ringing, I adapt my hand technique and mute the skin more that way, if necessary.

What I thought.. leaving a hand on the head does mute the “ring”. I really hate to dismantle the head in order to install the mfr stick on paper ..

Usually, I’ve helped some of my students with Remos place the muting sticker on the skin by going through the hole in the bottom of the djembe 🤓
