is it mics, in general, no matter what type of mic or model one uses that take up way too much of the tension sound of the drumskin we hear in your recording?

I think the SM57 mic picks up sound very naturally. My djembe at the time in the sun just made such sounds. Ideally, I would have a new skin on the drum and not tuned to such high pitch.

Still wanna hear you with out the mic.. Would be real nice to hear these NLB's with out the mic.. you got the skills, that's for sure, but as an acoustic player its painful to hear such a beautiful natural sound being processed.

Anything you're listening to over the internet, via a stereo system, tape recording, electric speakers, etc., is to some extent processed.
The only way to truly hear the natural sound is to be there in person and hear it first hand!
You know, like the original djembe players in Africa did!
