    Hi all,
    Just wanted to say a few things:
    First of all, THANK YOU for the support and views on this video.
    Secondly, (and perhaps this isn't even worth going into), but I just been seeing a lot of guesses on this effect saying that it's a special app that illuminated the named number behind the cards (perhaps voice recognition?). Just wanted to clarify and say that the phone is legitimately just a light source... although the premise is about 'alien tech', this is actually a very low tech trick, and is done JUST with the cards.
    Also, me asking Penn to name his number prior to the reveal was strictly a theatrical decision... method wise, it wasn't necessary, but the punch for the audience would have been diminished if they didn't know Penn's number during the reveal.
    Anyway, sorry for the lengthy clarification:) please keep enjoying the video!

      i respect those too who invent tricks rather than copying, but it was still based on some classic methods.
      i think what he did, is that he can quickly form any 2 digit number by slightly moving the cards, that's why he first asked for Penn's number and then it took him a bit time to "square" them off and that's why numbers formed in odd places and not on center like on a clock.
      so those holes and order of cards was very important, it's just matter of practicing so he can form correct number by slightly moving certain cards, while making it look like all he did is squared them off.

    • @Desteny6
      @Desteny6 Год назад +7

      @@SethiozProject I thought the "real glimpse" was referencing Kyle getting a peek at Penns number. This way he could also take his time sorting the cards during the trick, I'd assume order and maybe some size differences should be enough to get any 2 digit number with that amount of cards without having to resort to something fiddely like slightly shifting them. There should be plenty of ways to get to know Penns numbers, but my guess would be that it involved the case in some way - the reflective surface of the lid could be misdirection, but it might also be part of the method.

    I'm on the neurodivergent side as well. I'm fairly recently diagnosed, though, so I'm still not used to saying what my various diagnosis are without hearing the various and sundry voices I've heard and witnessed all my life. I hear them denigrate people with xy or z mental illness, and I've see how people change when they find out, locking people out of friendships, jobs, loans, and so many other things. So speaking it clearly is something I'm working on still.
    So, thank you. I don't know if you planned it that way but I really think your casual and even pleasant way of presenting your OCD and stuttering did good in the world. Normalizing this stuff is always the best way, I've seen and heard. It makes me dream of a world where some child can talk freely about what's going on with them and perhaps they can be diagnosed with some stuff early so they don't have to live 59 years thinking they're broken and should be ashamed.
    I dearly hope that world is coming. You did something to make it happen in your appearance.

I think it would be a lot more impressive to the lay person if you keep the ending reveal with the squared up cards, but implement some different way of getting the number, so you can show it and go "so is this your number?" and be right the first time, though that might be less impressive to P&T. In any case, the framing and show is stellar, well done.

  • @SethiozProject

    I think all the magic was in he phone, because you asked him to say the number BEFORE you revealed it, which gave your assistant some time to turn on custom shaped light, you never showed those cards squared up, so i believe they let light thru even if there's no hole. i think it's made of some kind of black translucent plastic, similar to what keyboard buttons look like, they look black, but if you put light under them, it glows right thru. i think it was something like that and number literally appeared on the phone screen as lit up.
    or actually, i think you squared the cards in a way that it has holes for every possible number, like those LED clocks that can only show certain shapes, so those cards could have let thru any possible combination and it was just written on your phone by assistant.
    OR it was much simpler and you have your own way of moving the cards to form numbers, for example it has 10 dots on it and if you slide one card above 1 dot, it's 1, if you slide it bit further, it's 2, if you slide other card bit further, it's 3 ..etc. because i noticed you didn't just square them off, you moved them in very specific way before revealing the numbers.
    either of those methods could work, but i think it was the last one i suggested. very simple and just need to practice so you can form correct numbers fast. that's also why numbers were so off the center and in odd area that didn't make much sense. so i think if you put those cards on a light and move them just slightly, you can form any 2 digit number.

    If he at least had some magic in the strange box that holds Penns number, then he could produce the solution without asking Penner to reveal it before. But producing the the solution after Penner tells it our loud is just some aligning of the punch-cards.

      lol yeah. My version of the trick is I smoke a spliff for 10 minutes asking Penn what old school tricks he misses and what type of magic will be big with the advent of robots. And then I'd ask him what his number was, and then write it on a piece of paper and show everyone. Bam!

    • @UniPer85
      @UniPer85 Год назад

      @@yaboymayo1 He didn't. He arranged the plates after Penn told which number he thought of. The plates can form any two digit number, you just have to put them in the right sequence. A part of the video seems to be cut as you can see that the plates aren't squared together at 5:43, than he brings the phone down to show it to Penn and all plates are squared up. The magic happens between 5:40 and 5:43.

    I think I know how the trick was done, as in how the card props work, but what i can't figure out is how in the brief time he had between penn saying the number and the reveal he would have manipulated it, makes me think he got the number earlier to pull of any trick like that right in front of penn.

      Agreed. He could've at least asked to show the card at the end but he just asks Penn to say the number. So the card literally only exists for the performer to read the number.

    • @RobbieHatley
      @RobbieHatley Год назад

      "Cell phone trick"? You mean the light source? No, that wasn't the trick. The trick was the transparent bottom of the box into which Penn placed the face-down card. The rest was basically just orienting stacks of 4 slices of Swiss cheese so that the holes lined up right to spell "98".

  • @seanm4075
    @seanm4075 3 месяца назад

    As he puts the box in the bag, he looks at the bottom of the box... the card was face down in the box so obviously, he could see the number through the bottom... then it was just a matter of placing the cards in the right order...

    So, you wait till Pen says the number, then slide the cards to the holes you need to make the number. Everything else is a distraction. Quite the setup.

    • @RobbieHatley
      @RobbieHatley Год назад

      Nope. There's only one final squaring: Square. So that wasn't it. The trick was a sneak peak at the number (2:56-2:59), followed by carefully orienting the cards (3:07-4:31) to spell "98". Note that the magician holds up _every single card_ then places it on the table in the correct orientation. See Penn's eyes flicking repeatedly down to the table? He's observing all that. So of course it didn't fool him.

      Much lower tech. Transparent bottom, and the magician tilts it briefly up at 2:56. The rest was just a matter of orienting every single card manually, which he does slowly and brazenly, right in plain sight, while pretending to be trying to read Penn's mind.
