Alright then. Lemme go ahead and pick this up real quick
Just purchased this app yesterday and I’m already loving it!
Fantastic to hear! Let me know what kind of music you're making and I'll shoot you a feature I think you'll like
I make all sorts of electronic music and also rock music. I like making darker electronic music in the vein of Gary Numan, Nine Inch and nails and Depeche Mode. Also a big fan of El-P
@@justinfoot52 I was listining to depeche mode last night while coding. I had never listened to their live stuff and it blew my mind, way more rock influence than I knew they could get. So based on that here's a few recs:
I love those ballad moments in rock. To get those
Level 1: Use Tracks->Tone Blocks to develop and experiment with harmonies
Level 2: Use Track 1 to lay down a simply rocky chord progression. Don't worry about rhythm. Track 2, use MELT with track 1 as source. lay down a sequence to add the rhythm of the chordal harmonics. Then make sure the keypad is set to TONE MELT KEYPAD and use the specific note filter to take and transpose individual notes from the chords over the top to create the melodic pops that run through these ballads.
For Drums:
Level 1: Gotta get big snares - use drum track layers. Press the link button to the right side of the keypad and select other pads to layer them.
Level 2: Make it technoey - unlink your drums in SEQ SETUP to add polyrhythms
Level 3: Add variety and sporadic larger strikes with the 'EVERY' Param. But, take it further but long pressing the 'EVERY PARAM' to customize exactly when it plays over the course of 16 loops (i.e play on loop 2,3,6,7 of every 8.
Hope some of these prove fun
@@A_Mortal_Mage Thanks for the tips! And yes, Depeche Mode is almost a different band live. Been a fan since the mid 80’s and still going strong. Can’t wait to incorporate the tips you provided. Thanks again!
I grabbed it because I like where you’re going with this.
Thank you! And hell yeah! Prism still has sooo much room to grow (not to say it isn't already packed with capabilities). Let me know if you have ideas. I'm always looking for more inspo
@@A_Mortal_Mage first thing out the gate is the need for an Undo Button. People new to this idea of workflow will want to undo to fix mistakes they have no clue on.
@@bjamminsincebirth3494 Hey, you have a access to some pseudo undo functionality on this. You can either use the snapshot feature to save and reload a place (the camera and the picture icon) or you can use the checkpoint autosave. If you look at the picture icon at the top you'll see it change colors when you switch states or tracks, that is an autosave. Long press the picture (load snapshot) button to go back to the checkpoint save. Think of it like in a video game when you get a savepoint at the entrance to a cave or level. Hope that makes sense
Watching these videos now, trying to wrap my head around how to use this. You’ve got a lot of functionality baked into this thing!
Oh Yeah, and it's setup to hold a lot more. Hopefully you've found some of the later beta updates to surface the functionality in a more intuitive way. Let me know if you have any questions as you learn.
"No standalone, yet" Planned? :) Having lots of fun learning, thank you!!
It's on the board but a bit far down in terms of priority
@@A_Mortal_Mage not a large concern, but just a nice to have! congrats on your launch!
