One of my concerns with the Oxy One is that it appears to only have 4 track mute buttons? Perhaps you can clarify whether there is a mode where the multi-tracks can be easily muted individually? If you want to use a sequencer in a more live context, the ability to easily mute parts is (IMHO) pretty much essential.
@@boydw1 hi! Thanks for watching! Yes, you can mute each horizontal track individually (1-8) in multi mode and also mute the entire “main” sequencer page (1-4)👍🏼 see? Just as I said in the vid, most times you hope it does something, it does it😜
@@MidlifeSynthesist Can you elaborate on the specific methodology to do that? Not having dedicated mute buttons, it's not obvious how that is performed, and how much juggling is required to access the mutes vs editing the sequences (immediacy is key).

Ordered an OXI One just yesterday to pair with an Analog Four MK2 and Analog Rtym MK2 - but can already see the potential for addition of other externals. Haven't looked at the DAW/IOS integration yet but that looks cool to. While researching the OXI One came across their CORAL and that looks off the scale - fun !!

This thing looks dope, and keeps getting more interesting! I was getting all excited and thinking I was going to pull the trigger…then I ordered a Torso T-1😅
Proud that a spanish company makes a great product… In my case I bought a Hapax because of the few channels of the OXI, but looks amazing and much sturdier.
Same here, I love the 16 (very visible) channels of the Hapax and the additional buttons to mark a whole row. Not so keen of the song mode though which is why I'd like to be able to address individual patterns via MIDI, hope this gets addressed by the Hapax devs soon.
Wow! This is everything i keep hoping for in a sequencer! 😱😭🔥 8:50 also, this midi splitter seems pretty useful just to keep the midi cables away from the unit so you can leave everything plugged in and just use one 1/8" TRS 🙌 I'm going to start selling things rn to get this lol
Hey man, love your stuff, you were one of the reasons I ended up purchasing a minifreak and now you post a sequencer that’s perfect in every way I’ve been looking for! Crazy, but anyways just ordered the “last one” using your discount code so I hope you’ll get some of that 👍🏻
Ooo and also if you see this lemme know if you have any tips on getting my hands on a micromonsta 2 😩🙏🏻 I’ve been trying for almost a year and they are elusive
I know right!? With all the people who want one, you’d think they’d restock at some point🤦🏻♂️ I bought mine in the used market at a fair price thankfully. Really hope you find one out there🤟🏻
This is incredible and super innovative, butttt when you get to this level of intricacy, i feel like having a few eurorack sequencers that all have CV inputs would be more fun and tactile. For anyone without any modular interest and a ton of hardware synths/drum machines this is an absolute no-brainer though. Great video.
Hey @MidlifeSynthesist! Thanks to you I bought a Deluge and it's my favourite instrument, because of it's enormous sequence capabilities but also because it's so intuitive to use. Why should I consider the OXI ONE if I already have a Deluge? In my opinion the Deluge is a mighty sequencer & groove box. Is the OXI ONE that much better at sequencing in your opinion? Keep up the great work!
Hello my friend!! So happy I helped you find something you enjoy using!! To be honest, I don’t have an answer to that yet. I love both machines and lots of people are asking me the same thing, so when I get back from vacation I’m gonna sit down with both and try to do a comparison video I can finally answer🤟🏻🤟🏻 hope to see you then! All the best!
I added the Deluge to my doc comparing Hapax and Oxi One here: docs.google.com/document/d/1etLnCeL0BIIc-4HeFqp3lRIB2nNKVJaVp3NsHARar3Q/edit?usp=sharing The Deluge section isn't complete yet but may still be useful.
i LOVE seeing stuff like this, i am gettin gto a point where i like sequencers a lot more then i once did, but i still have a hard time not wanting things to sample (even if they are pretty much just acting as a interface for the audio im recording)
The way you describe this company confounds me. I'm used to Akai. You mean to tell me there are companies who listen to users? That don't put their fingers in their ears and yell "LALALALALALALALALA!!!" while chucking out new pay to play features nobody asked for and refusing to add basic functionality or fix bugs that have been an issue since the very first official firmware?
@@mvaudio5 Sure, but some of these functions are available in the Live 12 beta. I understand this device is compelling for people who is not using Live.
As a happy Deluge owner i'll probably pass on it because too many overlaping features, but i find it very appealing though! Along with the Hapax, we've got great options out there, that's nice :)
I’ve got both. The Oxi one feels more premium hardware-wise, but is way more limited in some areas that are important to me - only 15 or so songs can be saved, you can’t use the isomorphic keyboard like you can on the deluge (it has a similar layout, but as soon as you select a scale it breaks), and obviously there’s no synths and no sampling. I do hope they sell a shitton if these so they keep updating the device, and maybe eventually come out with a version that has a sound engine. While I love the deluge, I don’t like that there’s not more devices like that.
@@svenmify: I'm a deluge owner and was wondering how much overlap there is. I'm considering getting the Torso T-1 for more immediate, generative playing, thinking that for a Deluge owner, adding the T-1 makes more sense than the OXI (assuming you want to explore generative music making). Does that make sense? Thanks!
I was a day 1 backer on their kickstarter and I do love the device but that rate of updates that you mention is a double edged sword - since I produce music as a hobby sometimes there are weeks and months before I can sneak in a session, which led to several times me updating the OXI before a session only to find that there are major changes again and I have to re-read the updated manual again 😕 I think there’s a fine line between refining a product and not being able to settle for any workflow or UX and constantly switch things up.
I also have an SQ-64 and love it despite some quirks. I came pretty close to upgrading to the OXI One but I worry about the 15 project limit. I know I can transfer sessions to the computer but I use a sequencer so I can be creative without a computer and I never know what project I’ll want to jump into. Really tempting but I dunno if I can pay that much with that limitation.
Wow! I have never needed to use all the projects. I use to store a few (4-5) tracks or ideas in one project , because you can save up to 64 patterns per project!!
@@mvaudio5that seems like a bit of a clunky workaround though. Makes it hard to find what’s where, seems like a headache to deal with. It’s beyond me why they didn’t just add an SD card slot and allowed for limitless song? At this price points surely that’s not too much to ask?
Can I zoom in and out of the grid easily to see tiny levels of temporal resoultion like on the deluge? All those cv out look tasty. Love to see how this acts in a performance setting, ala. elektron trigs and fills, and ala abelton launching clips/rows and live looping.
I love how you're Spanish voice is almost an entire octave lower than your English voice. I've noticed this trend in many people, myself included. I wonder if it's a thing.
Just looking into this. My sequencer experience has been modest, mostly from the Akai MPC. I've bought a lot of iOS stuff with sequencing that I didn't up using, since they were too fiddly, and I realize I don't want to poke iPad glass that much. I really want to compose songs. Could the Oxi One be a good song sketcher for me? Can I get going with it without feeling like I'm sipping from a fire hose of endless arcane techie learning?
Coming from a beginner; I sold my MPC One+ after finding out about the Oxi One. Been struggling for a long time to work around sequencing with the MPC into Bitwig for a while, using Akai network midi. Couldn't get stuff synced, midi network worked half of the time ect... I recived my Oxi today, and after an evening of tinkering and with help from the Oxi discord, it's all setup. 1 track for my Hydrasynth, 1 multitrack for my TR8s with 8 different instruments assigned to each track, 1 multitrack I can add 8 mono tracks for VST synths from Bitwig Still have ALOT to learn, but with a Oxi I sometimes figure it out naturally before I have to check the manual. I can still get a simple drum track down, and add a bunch of synths. So in one evening I could setup something Ive tried to do with the MPC for a long time.
Interesting points about live performing - pre planned v live - biggest thing for live I’d say is to angle the instruments so the audience can see what you are doing - seen a few great acts who sound great but look like they are checking their email - TO YOUR POINT, I AGREE - if you twiddle something the audience should be able to hear a difference to the sound and/or arrangement. I use cheap IKEA BRADA laptop stands. Just my thoughts!
I can’t find a video that really shows a step by step tutorial on how to sequence with this. Most mention sequencing then spend the video talking about the generative mode. I just want to know how to sequence with it first. I’ve had a hard time wrapping my brain about how to use this. Seriously the most complicated sequencer for me. Also no clue how to use the splitter. Any advice or video recommendations would be amazing before I sell this due to lack of know how to use. I want to learn it but I’m just uaving some block in my mind. Please help
Mididevice definitions / presets is huge one, finally more manufacturers are getting it, so now its cirklon, pyramid / hapax and now oxi as far as i know. Only bummer is that the list is managed by the oxi and not yourself having few not so great implications -you cannot create own defintions, have to scroll trough list of all the gear you don't have and cannot set midichannels etc, but i am sure they will get there.
It's hard not to admire this company and product but as soon as you summarized it with "options", I was certain that it would overwhelm me and that I should go for a Torso T-1 instead (have been trying to decide between the two).
I've been lookng around ofr a sequencer that'll feed my thirst for melodic jams and sweet chords - I think this could be it. I loved the Circuit Tracks but found it too limiting, I did try and get on with the Digitakt but it's not ideal for melodic jams. This is the answer.
Does the OXI One midi clock continue to send tempo when it's stopped? (as Electron Squarp Cirklon Bigwig Cubase and all decent hardware sequencers should?) I'm thinking of getting one but it really annoys me when sequencers don't do this (Hello Akai, Ableton, Logic) I have a couple of synths that hate having a stopped clock (Sequential and Korg Prologue). In short, if you plug a Sequential PRO-3 into it does the EXT clock indicator on the screen switch to - - - when you press stop?
My beef with this device, is that for that price of $750 U.S. and just being a sequencer, it it should of have at least four dedicated midi out ports. I get, that it has multiple CV outs, but leaves us with multiple hardware midi gear out of the picture. Before anyone comments "use a midi through box splitter" know that one midi main output still sends all the transmissions sequentially. Meaning, that it a congested lane with all 16 channels will still be bogged down at the out put BEFORE the splitter. Example, devices with four dedicated outputs, like the MPC X or older MPC 3000, the midi outputs can be dedicated to specific channnels and not all 16 channels out ( which can be done too).
The One seems to be capable of doing everything the ndlr can, for example, or the midicake arp. Would be great if there was a tutorial somewhere or someone sharing how they approach a challenge like that. 😉 Does anyone know if there is?
If you are into Eurorack, it’s a no brainer. If you aren’t, then you need to think if all the creative features, sequencing modes and modulation capabilities are worth for you 😊
@@oxiinstruments well, i’m all into eurorack. Already sporting a couple of sequencers. I have a metron, keystep pro and my latest addition, the mpc live 2. This came after a really disappointing period with the play+. All this time i was looking at the Oxi. And where you say no brainer, i chose for the mpc, cause the combination of sampling with a powerful sequencer is just more appealing to me. Now that i have the mpc, i’m still looking for yet another sequencer. But then the price…But ok, i do have the money. I will order it and undergo the experience. I was about to order the maestro for fancy modulation, we will see.
@@BecomingProductions my friend has a Hapax and is extremely happy with it, but the oxi is cheaper and smaller form factor …but I like the two small displays of the Hapax
I'm whilling to buy a deluge. On the first watching of this video i can't get out my head that is a ripoff of the deluge without being standalone. Would u think i can replace a Deluge ?

If you are tight on studio space, get the deluge because it has a sequencer, synth and sampler in it. if you have all the space in the world just get the oxi and get separate samplers/synths

Those things aparts, i wanted to salute the work you've made on this channel@@MidlifeSynthesist, you've become my first choice to music gear review and discover.
Hi, A fantastic instrument which however I would like to use with my sounds and my samples. I wonder how many functions I would lose with the use of samples or if its functions still integrate with an sp 404 for example or in your DAW with samples. Because I always see it used with Synth hardware or vst and I wouldn't want to use it that way but with my samples. I'm going crazy to understand this thing; maybe you can help me I would be grateful :)!! Thank you in any case
Hello my friend! This is a midi sequencer, an advanced controller, as in, it doesn’t have any internal synths or samples or produce any sounds. It controls external synths and samplers, both digital and hardware, via midi, cc, or blutooth. It can run the software synths on your daw, trigger samples on your sp404, modulate parameters on any synth you have. Think of it as a master orchestra director and you synths, samplers and plugins are orchestra players for it to direct👍🏼 hope that makes sense!
@@MidlifeSynthesist HI:))! It certainly doesn't have internal sounds, what I'm asking you is what can you do with the samples in a digital sampler in you Daw or in a hardware sampler; in addition to triggering samples, can you modulate them in what way? Does he maintain his functions? How do you make chords, for example harmonizations, etc. with the samples? Can do that anyway. I don't know all its functions but I wanted to know what it keeps and what it loses using samples. Thank you !
How are you doing the Bluetooth? I was pretty surprised that is extremely unstable for iOS and the developers acknowledge it and kind of just blame MacOs and ios. Am I missing something?
@@krazywabbit do you usually compensate for clock delay or something? I mostly use drambo and when sequencing via Bluetooth it’s usually pretty off, not even the midi clock gets synced (usually is 1-2 bpm off) btw I been finding your tutorials quite useful :D
@@MidlifeSynthesist That's great. Does it magically rearrange the matrix so that the black keys are in between the white ones? Sorry for the sarcasm, don't take that personally, but a matrix layout for inputting notes might be just fine for some people using a DAW, because of the vertical keyboard next to the piano roll, but on a hardware device that's a deal breaker for me/many. Remember that you can connect a Midi keyboard to any DAW. You might be able to do that with this sequencer too, but the "DAW-less" and ease of use (no cables/wires) is mostly gone then. Devices like this seem to be either aimed at programming drum sequences *OR* note sequences (that is, the latter omit a 808-like 16 button section or it's all but useless for programming drums nonetheless). So you end up w/ two $880 hardware sequencers (one drum and one for melody and chords) or ... the much hated DAW (brrrrrrr, the horror! 😬). Thank you for the informative video!
@@meneerjansen00 Thank you for saying this and saying something no one wants to hear. I HATE these BS grid-based button sequencers. Newsflash... some of us actually are proficient with a keyboard and are classically trained. We don't need this crap and don't want it.
@@BlackMan614 Yeah. I don't get why they don't make a simple Midi sequencer w/ a (small) chromatic keyboard and 16 buttons above it to input drums. The Arturia Keystep Pro looks like it would fit the part. But it'll only play sequences in a loop and thus you can not produce a song on it. Another gripe of mine it that these hardware Midi "sequencers" come with "instruments" built in, in which I have absolutely *no* interest. They always focus on the Groove Box aspect, never simply on DAW-less production. Oh, that and the shameless overpricing compared to real instruments like a synthesizer or guitar.
No step sequencer will be the only sequencer I’ll ever need. Great for working modular gear and compact synths. Not so great for documentation of your work. The price is a little too dear for experimentation. The new and used gear I can get at that price would deter me from spending it on the Oxi One. The limitations it has doesn’t free me. It constrains me. 128 steps. 8 tracks. This is made for a particular use and most of what I do is outside of its range. I would love to have one to play around with but for 800 USD, I could just use the step sequencers I own already.
Hi! I absolutely agree that this won’t fit everyone’s workflow and you should find what inspires you👍🏼 just wanted to point out that it has a maximum of 32 individual tracks (8x4), not 8😉. As for the steps, they indeed are 128 per pattern, but with the elektron style parameter locking/ probability/ generative stochastic and matricial modes plus being able to chain multiple patterns together in arranger mode it’s actually WAY more than 128 steps. Hope you find what you’re looking for my friend! Thank you for watching!
It's a midi sequencer, it doesn't do any audio on its own. For that, and a a fellow guitar "player", I'd tell you to look into the SP404 mkii or the MPC One. Both can record and loop guitar, though it's not working exactly like guitar loopers either.
So if you can only have one, and are looking only for MIDI sequencing capabilities, Deluge or Oxi One? (taking into account the new community firmware for the Deluge)
Personally, I'd choose the Oxi One. If you only want MIDI sequencing, there's no need to pay more for stuff you don't want on the Deluge. The Deluge doesn't have the generative MIDI stuff (though apparently the Deluge community is trying to create something in that vein, remains to be seen how it will compare to the One's), and the Deluge screen doesn't show as much info as the One screen does AFAIK. The Oxi One is so stacked on MIDI features and is only getting better, it's designed for MIDI sequencing alone and you already know what you're getting rather than having to wait on whatever the Deluge community comes up with.
@@Rilkir Sounds alright. Two things that keep me wondering though: first, features are being added to the Deluge blazingly fast since the open source release of the firmware (if Oxi was to opensource their firmware too that'd be a no brainer then). Also, the Deluge doesn't have any limitation when it comes to number of tracks (whereas Oxi still is, I believe, limited to 32 monophonic tracks or 4 polyphonic ones). I've been able to try the Deluge pretty extensively lately, but I never was able to play with an Oxi to see whether it'd fit me (would love to though). Also, even if I primarily want MIDI sequencing, being able to whip up a few sounds on the Deluge itself is a nice to have (notably for drums), though the Oxi smaller size/flatter format and lower price may allow one to get and pack along some other portable device (eg a laptop) with synth/sampling capabilities.
@@ywenp Trust me, with how responsive and kind the creator of the Oxi One is, the firmware doesn't need to be open source. I have made a couple of suggestions and they have been incorporated very quickly - in one instance it was the same day.
@@ywenp The One has 4 different sequencing "engines" which you can use any combination of, so you can use whatever engine works best for each of whatever 4 devices (a monosynth + polysynth + sampler etc). And yeah, it works great for controlling VSTs in your DAW as well. I totally get being fond of open-source firmware, but as far as MIDI sequencing goes, the One is already there. If your biggest concern is track count, you might want to look at the Hapax, but the Hapax also doesn't have the generative MIDI stuff that the One does. There's also the Torso T-1, it has generative MIDI sequencing too but most people say the T-1's UI is more confusing than the One's. I've always been a bit interested in a Deluge myself, but my impression after following it for years is that it's designed to be an all-in-one box (something I'm not fond of personally), and you have to use it regularly so that you don't forget how to navigate it and all of its features. I've been very happy with my decision to buy Oxi, it is a great companion for a laptop or iPad running software, or a combination of hardware sound generators. It can also function as a Grid for a Monome Norns if you have any interest in that.
08:44 xwhat did they figure out , that you can buy a midi splitter ?? IF the oxi has only one midi out bus you're still restricted to 16 channels , no ?
I’m really disappointed that the fretboard style isomorphic keyboard kinda breaks when you select a scale. Makes it more or less useless to me. Good thing Deluge community firmware added grid mode, so went back to using that device again. Hope Oxi comes through as well with an update to their isomorphic keyboard system. Because as you said, it’s an otherwise well thought out device. My plan now is to mostly use the deluge, but use the Oxi for a small iPad setup. The Bluetooth integration really is a nice feature.
@@mvaudio5 it breaks that particular layout, the fretboard style. Which is why I bought it. $1k down the drain (kinda) due to a weird choice they made. My linnstrument, Deluge, launchpad and akai force all have the ability to use a fretboard layout with scales, as you’d expect. On the Oxi, I want to select a scale to have more room on the piano roll (and to highlight the notes on the keyboard), but suddenly it expects me to unlearn years of muscle memory from other devices and from guitar and bass. I’d call that a major flaw. Not saying that they shouldn’t have whatever this mode is as well, but it should at least have an option to do it the regular way.
@@svenmify Have you considered requesting this feature on the Discord? The Oxi One doesn't expect you to do anything, it's a brilliant device with a brilliant creator who listens to users.
I bought the Polyend Play about 6 months ago instead of the OXI and I’ve been kicking myself for quite some time now… I returned the T-1 after having it for a week and a lot of people told me this or the deluge would been a better option…
@@substance90 i can imagine... I was enjoying the T-1 but it was taking me quite a bit of time per session to get anything overtly listenable... When I did get there I was impressed but for my workflows it just wasn't compatible or enjoyable to me so i sent it back... I think it was a well-made device but just wasn't for me... When i was shopping for a sequencer under $1000 the Play and OXI one were on my list... Decided on the Play for meddling when im working on the road but after the recent + release and other factors like the buggyness when exporting stems and using in DAW, left me pretty disappointed... Still enjoy the Play but i feel it is close to entering my GAS graveyard... hahaha...
$1000's my goodness. Kudos though to continual F/W updates, looks like it should be disruptive tech, 'a game changer' even. Looks sturdy, neigh Native Instruments level build quality but theose TINY PADS are a deal breaker for me. $249 Maschine Mikro need not worry then, you can't produce professionally on a tablet.
If you are into Eurorack, it’s a no brainer. If you aren’t, then you need to think if all the creative features, sequencing modes and modulation capabilities are worth for you 😊
@@oxiinstrumentsOh, absolutely, if I were into Eurorack, I'd probably mortgage my house to fund that addiction! 😅 But seriously, I get the allure of 'creative features' and 'modulation capabilities'. They're like the shiny objects we tech enthusiasts can't resist. However, let's not kid ourselves - the heart of a great MIDI controller isn't just about packing in features that would make a Swiss Army knife jealous. It's about usability, tactile response, and not feeling like I'm trying to play a symphony on a postage stamp. Sure, for the price of the OXI ONE, I could potentially explore new galaxies of sequencing modes, but at the end of the day, I might just prefer to stay grounded with tools that don't require a magnifying glass to use. I guess I'm just old-school like that, preferring my pads to be a size where my fingers don't need a GPS to find them. However, in an era where software can faithfully emulate the intricacies of modular synthesis, I'm left wondering if going the Eurorack route is more about collecting expensive hardware than practical music production. But hey, to each their own! If miniaturization is the future, I'll start practicing now by tickling the ivories on my smartphone’s keyboard. 😂 #FingerGymnastics #ModularMortgage
Finally had a play with one yesterday, I take it back. This things fantastic, the guy showing me also introduced me to the Eurorack sim VCV and I'm HOOKED! Saving up.
Great video. Thank you. I notice every video about the oxi focuses on the generative features. Every video. What we new users need is a how to guide. I’ve had the oxi for a month and barely touch it. I’m having trouble figuring out how to integrate it with my synths. The routing isn’t easy. I have the oxi dongle that adds more midi ports but again have no idea how to use it. I own lots of hardware synths and groove boxes. Lots. I’m not sure how to route everything. Please. Please do a users guide video. Without generative feature. That horse has been beaten to death haha
To each their, own people like what they like but I have a big question. This thing costs hundreds more than an Akai MPC One and the Akai gives a big color touch screen with an easy to navigate semi-DAW interface and lets you control as many devices as you have midi channels plus it has built sounds, synths etc and again it's cheaper. Why get the Oxi at all when something like the MPC one exists that does everything thing this thing does but better. Am I missing something or is this along the lines of people don't want to be bothered with any DAW Like at all? In which case my reply would be, so you rather not learn an easy tool to spend money on something thats inferior in every way? If I'm missing something let me know here.

@user-tw2bq8cy5m Yes. The OxiOne has midi over usb and midi din.
This thing looks dope, and keeps getting more interesting! I was getting all excited and thinking I was going to pull the trigger…then I ordered a Torso T-1😅
Bought both the One and the Coral module using your code. Thank you!
Thanks so much🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Proud that a spanish company makes a great product… In my case I bought a Hapax because of the few channels of the OXI, but looks amazing and much sturdier.
Same here, I love the 16 (very visible) channels of the Hapax and the additional buttons to mark a whole row. Not so keen of the song mode though which is why I'd like to be able to address individual patterns via MIDI, hope this gets addressed by the Hapax devs soon.
@@g3cd ironically the Oxi actually can support more tracks (max 32). But it may not be how you want to use it.
The updates to Matriceal mode in the most recent firmware are so fun.
100%🤟🏻
I love your channel name :D And thanks for these educational 10 minutes
You're so welcome!❤️❤️
Wow! This is everything i keep hoping for in a sequencer! 😱😭🔥
8:50 also, this midi splitter seems pretty useful just to keep the midi cables away from the unit so you can leave everything plugged in and just use one 1/8" TRS 🙌 I'm going to start selling things rn to get this lol
Yoo!! Thanks so much man! Really happy I could show you two devices you might enjoy❤️ really appreciate the support 🙌🏻
I know right!? With all the people who want one, you’d think they’d restock at some point🤦🏻♂️ I bought mine in the used market at a fair price thankfully. Really hope you find one out there🤟🏻
Midi mapped presets for different brands is insane!
Absolutely bonkers in a wonderful way🤩
When I saw the Amadeus clip I gushed! Wonderful film

The Octa-octatrack looks sick!
I have one and is, indeed, fantastic.
Thank you 💜

I love mine. Glad you finally got a review up!
Thanks so much! I would have done it sooner but they keep updating it🤣
This is incredible and super innovative, butttt when you get to this level of intricacy, i feel like having a few eurorack sequencers that all have CV inputs would be more fun and tactile. For anyone without any modular interest and a ton of hardware synths/drum machines this is an absolute no-brainer though. Great video.
Oxi has replaced all my eurorack sequencers .. more capable than any other out there!
Awesome video for this amazing and truly inspiring piece of gear!
Thank you so much🙌🏻🙌🏻
Hey @MidlifeSynthesist!
Thanks man. Enjoy your holiday!@@MidlifeSynthesist
I added the Deluge to my doc comparing Hapax and Oxi One here: docs.google.com/document/d/1etLnCeL0BIIc-4HeFqp3lRIB2nNKVJaVp3NsHARar3Q/edit?usp=sharing
The Deluge section isn't complete yet but may still be useful.
i LOVE seeing stuff like this, i am gettin gto a point where i like sequencers a lot more then i once did, but i still have a hard time not wanting things to sample (even if they are pretty much just acting as a interface for the audio im recording)
The beta testing forum of Akai is pretty active and has involvement from the staff. The speed of development is just slower there, unfortunately.

fully agree with you the OXI is re-evolution to me love -it !!! same to me thks to SURCO ))))
Great review! I have been considering it, but I hope the Push will get similar functions with Live 12.
They would have to go a long way to reach this level of functionality.
@@mvaudio5 Sure, but some of these functions are available in the Live 12 beta. I understand this device is compelling for people who is not using Live.

Thanks so much my friend!! See you soon!
As a happy Deluge owner i'll probably pass on it because too many overlaping features, but i find it very appealing though! Along with the Hapax, we've got great options out there, that's nice :)
Absolutely! Fellow Deluge owner here, it’s awesome to have so many great tools!! Thanks for watching!
Thanks!
@@stefanherzog never tried that one, so can’t answer that for you.
@@svenmify 👍
I was a day 1 backer on their kickstarter and I do love the device but that rate of updates that you mention is a double edged sword - since I produce music as a hobby sometimes there are weeks and months before I can sneak in a session, which led to several times me updating the OXI before a session only to find that there are major changes again and I have to re-read the updated manual again 😕 I think there’s a fine line between refining a product and not being able to settle for any workflow or UX and constantly switch things up.
That's fair, I imagine over time though the UI and interaction will change less and the features will be more seamlessly implemented
I am glad I bought mine at this point in the development.
Can you elaborate on what were the most disruptive changes?
The updates are always for the better and very well received 😊
Thanks for another awesome vid
Thanks so much for watching and commenting my friend!! All
The best🙌🏻
I went with the Korg SQ-64, which very similar. I like the layout and workflow.
I have both and, honestly, the sq64 is a toy compared to this machine.
Sq64 covers a 10% of what OXI One can do…
Coming from a modular-centric approach, can I plug CV in to modulate aspects of what the Oxy is doing?
Can I zoom in and out of the grid easily to see tiny levels of temporal resoultion like on the deluge? All those cv out look tasty. Love to see how this acts in a performance setting, ala. elektron trigs and fills, and ala abelton launching clips/rows and live looping.
I love how you're Spanish voice is almost an entire octave lower than your English voice. I've noticed this trend in many people, myself included. I wonder if it's a thing.
God I really gotta pick one of these up
Video rated “G” for GAS😜

1 track for my Hydrasynth, 1 multitrack for my TR8s with 8 different instruments assigned to each track, 1 multitrack I can add 8 mono tracks for VST synths from Bitwig
Still have ALOT to learn, but with a Oxi I sometimes figure it out naturally before I have to check the manual.
Thanks for the vid. You move around a lot.
You should check out the UDO super 6! Having picked one up recently I think it could become a modern classic. (great video as always BTW)
Geez now i really want
I still cant decide between this or the Deluge!!! :( edit: got the oxi and LOVE it
how does it compare to the new squarp sequencer?
It's hard not to admire this company and product but as soon as you summarized it with "options", I was certain that it would overwhelm me and that I should go for a Torso T-1 instead (have been trying to decide between the two).
I've been lookng around ofr a sequencer that'll feed my thirst for melodic jams and sweet chords - I think this could be it. I loved the Circuit Tracks but found it too limiting, I did try and get on with the Digitakt but it's not ideal for melodic jams. This is the answer.
Does the OXI One midi clock continue to send tempo when it's stopped? (as Electron Squarp Cirklon Bigwig Cubase and all decent hardware sequencers should?)
I'm thinking of getting one but it really annoys me when sequencers don't do this (Hello Akai, Ableton, Logic)
I have a couple of synths that hate having a stopped clock (Sequential and Korg Prologue).
Example, devices with four dedicated outputs, like the MPC X or older MPC 3000, the midi outputs can be dedicated to specific channnels and not all 16 channels out ( which can be done too).
and I don't mind if they were four dedicated 1/8 in midi output ports.
This is what that cool German guy who makes all the cool beat tutorials uses, isn’t it? Captain Pikant?
that's right!
The One seems to be capable of doing everything the ndlr can, for example, or the midicake arp. Would be great if there was a tutorial somewhere or someone sharing how they approach a challenge like that. 😉 Does anyone know if there is?
Do you know if this has a dedicated tempo track (like we have in DAWs), so that you can automate a gradual tempo change across a track(s)?
I’m sure it is very good, and lord knows i want one. But..€800 is a crazy price.
Extremely unstable has not been my experience with iOS/macOS and Bluetooth.
@@krazywabbit do you usually compensate for clock delay or something? I mostly use drambo and when sequencing via Bluetooth it’s usually pretty off, not even the midi clock gets synced (usually is 1-2 bpm off) btw I been finding your tutorials quite useful :D
Well..., unless you want to input Midi notes via a chromatic keyboard. But then again, who makes music with notes? 🙁
It has a chromatic keyboard layout as well🫢
@@MidlifeSynthesist That's great.
Thank god they made it with a battery
surpised that it comes with case? have you seen how much $ more it is than beat set pro or sq64.
Any thoughts on how it compares to the Torso T-1?
The T-1 is pretty unique
T-1 excels at improvisation
I wanna like this thing but the learning curve was steep for me. I fluent with Elektron gear and thought it’d be no big deal… I was wrong
Joder tío...now I want it...
I was reading about looping. Could you loop guitar and control it with a pedal?
It's a midi sequencer, it doesn't do any audio on its own. For that, and a a fellow guitar "player", I'd tell you to look into the SP404 mkii or the MPC One. Both can record and loop guitar, though it's not working exactly like guitar loopers either.
Does it have Euclidean possibilities?
Pure no nonsense 😂
amazing spanish skills lol
Gracias amigazo!
Akai MPC one. It's literally designed to do this stuff.
Does anyone use it s a monome grid? If yes, does it work well? Thanks!
It does!!
Oxi one or Hapax? 🤔
08:44 xwhat did they figure out , that you can buy a midi splitter ??
IF the oxi has only one midi out bus you're still restricted to 16 channels , no ?
You have 3 different sets of 16 channels. 1-16 A , 1-16 B and 1-16 C. Midi splitter allows you to send them out to your gear👍🏼 thanks for watching!
Lol, It doesn’t break, it only removes the notes that are out the scale.
If you don’t like this, it doesn’t means it breaks 😂

The T-1 and the OXI are quite a sick combo btw. They complement each other quite well.
@@substance90 i can imagine... I was enjoying the T-1 but it was taking me quite a bit of time per session to get anything overtly listenable... When i was shopping for a sequencer under $1000 the Play and OXI one were on my list...
It’s closer to $750 with shipping.
@@oxiinstrumentsit’s twice the cost of a BeatStep Pro but BSP has 14 CV outputs vs 8 with the Oxi One.

If you want to sequence a bunch of gear and don't care that much about generative, the Hapax is much better.
they are spanish?? me lo compro!
jaja si que ha quedado de pm... 🤣
Jajajaja!😜
Joder tio!!
