Utterly exquisite, this has to be the finest and most refined performance of this Scherzo I have heard! How Dmitry carries the sound across all registers of the piano like a golden thread, the tie that binds! I love it! I love it so much! Pure magic through and through!
I have to comment on the number of ignorant critics across multiple classical piano artist's sites that lack the basic good manners that their mothers should have taught them ... criticizing Dmitry's breathing and facial expressions ... or Alexander Malofeev's posture ... or the length of Yuja Wan's skirts ... ad infinitum ... if you can't just listen and enjoy the incredible performances posted for our benefit, you need to just scroll on by and go listen to some rap or heavy metal ... the brilliance of these performances is tantamount to casting pearls before swine ... if you can't say something nice, say nothing at all ... we are not interested in your negative personal biases
just listened to this again and found it even more outstanding than on the first listen. dmitry is without doubt an exceptional pianist with few equals his age.
The added dimension on the second listen was my first notice of this spectacular Yamaha CFX, which for me is the finest concert grand piano in the world today. It and Dmitry are flawless.
exceptional dimity as are all the pieces i've ever heard you play. in my opinion you will be one of the great pianists if not the greatest in the 21st century. congratulations and best wishes from edward
Touching every single note looks easy for him he has a nice physique! Long hands and fingers' nice power and brilliant skill ! It's like having the top-tier weapons as a pianist:)
I think this piece will forever top many classical/romantic pieces ever created. I mean, listen to 4:31 - that is truelly magnificant. I also love 0:31 where the key changes… 😮 Well done Chopin.
In my next life I want to be born in Russia, and at the age of 4 I want to be taken to a conservatoire in Moscow and do nothing but play the Piano..the best school in the world is the Russian School..Definitely !!
In the "cantabile"-part the left hand is a little bit tricky. The range is an extended octave and to be able to play that far left note with the fifth finger in the left hand takes a certain technique how to perform that very smoothly and without any straining of the left hand.
The pianist plays the emphasis in the left hand differently than it has supposedly always been done concerning the two low octaves shortly after the first rapid eigth notes at the beginning and the higher chords in the right hand. He places the emphasis on the second octave instead of the other way around. I have always placed it on the first octave because it is composed that way and most famous pianist do it the same way as I have done according to my knowledge of the piano performances on this 2nd Scherzo in Bb-Minor of Frederic Chopin.
Ok, so I totally accept and believe that each artist is unique... But....... We have surely been blessed with a Horowitz for the twenty-first century. Just magnificent
His performance using Yamaha piano which sound is crisper but not as rich as Steinway. Otherwise, I agree completely with downstairs 4560. My girl friend is a MD after her competition in major international competition.
Wonderful playing! The facial contortions are both unnecessary and distracting. He is a true talent and we will hear much more from this incredible talent.
I've seen an earlier video of him playing the Liszt Campanella in which he nailed it flawlessly ....all while maintaining a calm, composed, and cool look on his face - the look of someone who is in control of his music as well as himself - the look of a musical master. But here, and in many of his recent videos, he makes these crazy autistic facial expressions. Did he experience a brain trauma some time after shooting the Liszt video?
Great performance but man do those Yamaha's sound muddy. Especially on the low end. Uninteresting non-complex overtones. A monotone sound. Almost sounds like an electric piano. Yuk.
4:31 most beautiful part in this composition! Literally made me cry!

Dimitry truly deserves every word of praise you have so beautifully defined him with. An exceptionally gifted young artist!

The measurement of his thumb to his little finger is 24 cm ... as measured live on Korean TV
9:39 Slow and steady!
Congratulations... very good indeed!
9:34 what an amazing moment 🥰
also, dmitry is so handsome!
Edward Ferdon chill gay boy
Frédéric Chopin Chill gay boy? My comment does not imply I'm a gay boy you moron.

Brilliant! Brilliant!
Bravo brilliance music
Why did this genius come in sixth in this competition?
Well.. not a lot of expressions are shown.
@ David Perkins , I ask the same question every time when I hear him perform
he doesn't necessarily do as well on other pieces
So beautiful melodies

Yes, he made a similiar mistake even in the preliminary round, but with a bass note
I could not hear that.
