He's the best music interpreter I've ever heard. There is much more to playing music than just playing the notes. He projects the feelings in the music more successfully than anyone I've ever heard before. It's a privilege to hear him play. Happy birthday on the 12th.
His interpretation of the Finale (Presto) is unique and brilliant. Most pianists turn it into a race to see how fast they can play it.... and it's really nice to hear a nuanced performance by someone who certainly has the technical ability to outcompete most any pianist in such a race.
I cannot say I have diligently and thoroughly watched all the great pianists young and old available in recording but I have heard many. This young man has a physical and technical ability on the instrument that is exceptional even among those greats.
One of the best if not the best performance I have ever heard of this Sonata. It is truly involved musical understanding, lyrical and powerful. Magnificent Chopin playing., so clear and moving, with no mannerism. Very deep but refreshing vision. So simple and right.
This young man is a true Gift from God. ALL the contestants who enter competitions at this level are wonderful, and ALL deserve to have successful performing careers, but THIS guy is a CHAMPION among the GIANTS in his field. I truly LOVE him after discovering his phenomenally good playing just today.
« TO THE YOUNG RUSSIAN, DMITRY, WITH LOVE »AGAIN. Ordinary words in English are not adequate enough to express my admiration for your dedication to all of the music you play. You are completely focused on the task before you as those wonderful artistic hands express what the composer wants; this is especially so in Rachmaninov, and the Chopin you are now playing. Your whole heart speaks to us. One day, hopefully, we will be fortunate enough to hear you here, in Australia. Thank you for the ‘Lockdown’ concert you played during the COVID-19 situation. It brought us all much happiness.
He is rather special, isn't he? He makes pianistic difficulties look quite easy to execute. I listen to him and think, "Now why can't I sound like that?" I know why,...it's the same reason I can't sprint like Usain Bolt.

I wouldn't say, original but just true and dedicated. In our times it seams to be original. For me it is not because I feel the same. It is simply right.

At first, I did too. Then I realized how strange it would look for a 4'9" woman to have hands that large. Still ...I wouldn't have to break so many chords.
Stunning! Beautiful phrasing and dynamic contrast however, he should play the final B flat octave at the end of 1st mov down an octave. Chopin would have wanted this only his keyboard was limited
With today pianists I have to close my eyes to really enjoy their performances, because their body language and faces is soooo distracting. I don't mean it is a bad thing, but is distracting. And it happens with almost every young pianist you see in this competitions. Dmitry is a very good pianist, but I have to avoid looking at him.
@@yoshi_drinks_tea Difficult To explain bad taste..some strange sudden crescendo or a singing that is not.modeled on bel canto manners ..accelerandos and virtuoso playing just to show how good are his hands..better to put the beauty of composition than show his tecnic..there are other pieces to shake hands..but...after all a great talent..I d advise to be very simple and look for the true behind notes not use notes to show himself

This young genius plays not to my ears, but to my heart and my soul ...
Every piece by Chopin is among the greatest romantic compositions ever. Gives the performer so much to explore.

I disagree. The beginning wasn’t the best, and I didn’t really love the crescendos.

Hyramess Hiramess I love his performance of fantasie impromptu. best I've ever heard.
lol
Mr Hiramess , I agree with you sir , he is “a true gift from God “
@@wuzz yea he was being so mean...😐
Again, this man delivers musical madness (Chopin reveals some of his inner disturbia here -), from a laser-focused technical core...
...He's phenomenal.
Truly!

the first movement of this sonata is one of the best compositions in romantic repertoire, I think !
