jeez his hands were made to play piano. Look at how long his fingers are.
it would be enough to do the 3/4 piano as is done for the violin.
You're correct!
The best I’ve heard! Bravo!
I love his faces :)
Best version ever...
it's the best polonaise i've ever heard
Me too. The clearest one. The lang lang one is also my favorite, but a little bit chaotic
yea seongjin played it smoother imo
Valentina Lisitsa has the BEST VERSION
Brilliant!!!!!!
Man, his fingers are long...
@I love Bach I heard somewhere the Horowitz could reach a 10th.
I heard Rachmaninov could do 13
Yeah lucky bastard
I love Bach how big is that then?
@@aloofmusician856 from C to E of the next octave
Interesting rendition, creative I must admit! Well performed!

At 1:14, he played it so hard that even the cameraman shook with his camera
That is the interpretation, not just playing. I have heard many pianists with this piece and I say you, this has nothing to do with hard playing. At that point 1:14 is fortissimo. He makes it beautiful, with many emotions, it has breath, it has conception, architecture. Really one of the best. Cameraman shaking is his own problem with machine :D
That really made me burst out laughing lol
@@lubosschelepak7032 Yep, I agree with you. Dmitry played it amazingly, best interpretation IMO, but I just thought it was funny how the cameraman shakes :D
@@lubosschelepak7032 agree
The mastery, technique and expression make this young man a Master of the piano!
Exceptional performance! So is the Yamaha!
My favorite Pianist. His is wonderful
extraordinary performance of this piece. it is now my favorite interpretation of it. it was also nice to hear an exceptional instrument other than the usual steinway D on the concert stage.
These Yamaha CFX sound excellent
Just perfect 😍 !!! Dmitry has a huge talent !!! He's the best 😄😄 !!!
Very unique interpretation. Love it!
Incredible technique.
I've definitely watched this video 1000 times ...
need help :)
His hands...... The most beautiful hands of any pianist . He moves his fingers so elegantly .
That's exactly what I thought.
4:32 the change between the strong and powerful Part to a slow emotional part touched me so hard... it's really intensive
I think so! !
Well, he's got the fingers. Arpeggios and octaves are flawless. Speed and expression is amazing. Tone is great for Chopin. I hope he can play Rachmaninoff with a proper desensitized tone.
Chopin (like Ravel) wrote pieces that he could not play to his satisfaction. To a young man who broke a string on his Erard he said "Young man, if I could play that Polonaise as it should be played, there would not be a string left on that piano"
Chopin lacked power but not virtuosity!
@@rigel48 That's what he said
@@Aaaa-hs3ev Not exactly, because if Chopin could play all the works he composed, even if for some he lacked power somewhere, this was not the case with Ravel, who did not have the virtuosity to play some of his pieces (Gaspard de la Nuit, concerto in G, notably).
such an chopanistic brilliance... awesome

Dear Dmitry; Excellent! Like a champagne bubble there's only one direction you can go, namely, straight to the top. Loved your use of rubato and uncommonly subtle and yet powerful use of dynamics. Reminded me somewhat of Ivan Moravac. Bravo!!!!

Another Rubinstein or Vladimir Horowitz! Simple awesome! A totally unique genius.
The best pianist in the world in this moment. Absolutely the most complete
I believe he must have listened to Horowitz's interpretation of this piece and most likely was inspired by it!
Technicall the most accomplished pianist in the competetion
The most elegant man to ever walk this planet
IMO the Yamaha concert grand CFX is the finest piano made at this time for the concert stage. Olga Kern switched to this piano and I read that the favorite piano of the great Martha Algerich is this piano.
Edward Ferdon I am a huge fan of Yamaha pianos and have had the great honour to play one of the CFX pianos and even though it had yet to be tuned, it was absolutely astounding to play a piano that was nine feet long with extreme amounts of power and felt like absolute magic to play. not only was the instrument amazing, but the technician responsible had regulated it to perfection, it felt almost liquid and divine as I started the opening flourish of Grieg's Piano Concerto. I am no concert pianist but it still sounded fantastic.
I believe fazioli is the best
Jaumaster 69 To each his own.
Jaumaster 69 Hopefully we can agree that it is not the over-hyped Steinway & Sons.
@@edwardferdon2161 well it sounds great if tuned correctly. Stein way is the standard because many recordings are recorded on Stein ways and we are used to them. I believe on some occasions steinways are better than yamaha because yamaha is too bright and not serious enough for some sad pieces. I absolutely love fazioli's clarity.
I couldn't get used to this different interpretation at first, but now the more I listen to it I think it may as well be the best version!
I would have the hardest time in the audience keeping myself from bursting into applause. Amazing
Oh yes! There are some performances from Chopin Competitions where the Pianist did such a phenomenal job that, even if I'd get thrown out, I probably couldn't contain myself from standing up and cheering like a little girl.
Many of my favorite interpretations of Chopins pieces are from the Chopin Competitions and every time I listen to them I expect massive cheers and applause ... but instead... silence. So strange^^

Maybe The Perfection?
I only remember this guy because of his puckered lips lol
Very “HEROIC” expression.
I think Chopin would be proud to know pianists continue to play his music
didnt he want many of his pieces to be burned once he died?
@@knopfir just the ones that he didn't publish. thankfully they didn't get burned
Best interpretation ever!
beyond impressive! great playing...
His hands looks like he can grab my whole face in just one hand 😂
Wow. Rather fresh approach. Currently my favorite one so far.
Oh, my God!!!

I loved the sound of that Yamaha CFX.... this guy plays sooo weeeelll
Better than any Steinway! What a lovely sound! And I bet the keys are great too.
In the few measures from around 0:33 to 0:43 it sounds like he's plucking the keys in the bass clef. I like it. But IMMA re edit.. It lost speed. Became bland near the end. Meh sad but I still enjoy Chopins pieces so I can accept it.

In addition, somewhere in the past I heard it referred to as the "Grand" polonaise.
I love this guy!
