It started with Iommi. Continued with Hetfield & Schuldiner. Josh Middleton is without doubt a riff lord. Banger after banger, Sylosis doesn’t disappoint. I hope for more success for this band, they certainly deserve it.
Besides absolutely loving the song, I'm watching the shit out of this video just to get them as much views as possible so that they finally break through and become a household name as they should be.

@@CollinRapp33 so do I, conclusion of an age when I first heard that was everything I'd ever wanted in a metal band. Thrashy, screams and cleans plus awesome riffs and solos. Still loved every album after but I missed the cleans.

Josh is such a goddamn genius, what a musician and what a band. I hope this single gets a lot of attention because Sylosis deserves it, they should be much bigger than they are, easily one of the best metal bands in the business. @@lu1zh16 I don't think they want to. Besides, Monolith was a great follow up to EotE, even if people don't dig it as much. I think we should all just enjoy the fact Josh came back and revived Sylosis (even if I sometimes miss the old sylosis stuff), they will still play older stuff live, so it's all good!
@@tomassedlacek8202 I like the older songs that seems like it's really telling a story with distinct intros that takes time to breathe and build up atmosphere, then it gets down to business with sick riffs and rhythmic hooks, then it might take more time to breathe and slow down and then build back up for energetic crescendo. The Bereaved, COAA, Last Remaining Light, Apparitions. The newer stuff sounds like it's designed to be more of a radio song.
@@user-mq4xp1gq3q i share the same feeling, these last few songs (beginning with Worship) have been more radio friendly. I don't blame Josh for trying to make the music more "accessible" to a broader range of people. If after over 20 years of being a band this is what needs to happen for Sylosis to grow, then I'm all for it. The old albums will always be there and they will still also play the old music live 😇
@@tomassedlacek8202 I agree. Their new stuff is still better than most other bands out there today, but the earlier stuff feels a bit more epic to listen. What you described can be seen with many bands with long careers where they deviate from their initial sound. Sometimes it works out for the better like with Pantera, but then sometimes not like with Metallica and In Flames. Fewer bands can stay consistent over such a long career, like Overkill.
Middleton is def bringing it on this new material. SYLOSIS rules !!!!

Just heard of Sylosis today and man, these guys throw hard. Feels like a lot of different bands mashed into one. Some Lamb Of God, some Slayer, the melody in the solo even sounded like Children Of Bodon. Was not expecting the vocalist to also be a guitarist. Made me think of Anthrax. I'm looking forward to more new songs!

It's amazing how Josh sounded like Chris Cornell in those clean vocals.

wow. this was tight all around. Vocals were deep growl, high growl, singing.... the rhythms were tight and that solo was clean af. I never listen to this style but man, this was polished and everything was definitely sculpted to sound good because everything fit and there weren't any harsh frequencies in the drums or guitars. Easy to listen to even though the overall impression was loud and aggressive. I say 5 stars out of 5!

It always grabs my attention and perks my mood when I see that Sylosis have put out new music. I listen with a huge f*cking smile on my face whilst trying to hold back from going full head bang mode in public. Pure fire.
As an old metalhead, this is like the best elements of old and new metal smashed into one smooth tight package and I fucking love it. Geezus this song is a total straight up throwdown while being sneakily technical, melodic, and structurally pleasing. Right on!

Sadly Josh once said that the guitar parts of some songs are not written to match the vocals and it would be very difficult for him to play and sing (After Lifeless Years Is an example)

He’s prob always gonna go back to Sylosis, that’s his baby. Architects is a nice career for Josh because they’re much bigger so he prob makes a much better living off that but Sylosis will always be his baby and brainchild. Only 3 years between the upcoming album and the last album too which is a pretty damn good turn sound for a guy who’s in another band that’s much bigger

That clean bridge section towards the end gives me life! Always wanted to see more of this stuff from Sylosis. Josh's melodic vocals really shine when he lets them sit higher in the mix.

Even tho' this is a banger, I do really miss the melodic sad stuff of Edge of the earth, Josh's way to write sad stuff is incredible, songs like Apparitions or Were the sky ends are golden.

Commented on someone else's that the chord progressions during the cleans and chorus are pretty dark and remind a lot of EotE; and the lyrics are dark AF and well written, and those cleans too...
I do love EotE, still my fave album, I hope this one can come anywhere close to what that captured - so far things are looking good from the strength of this.

Sylosis have always been a great band but they are getting better and better. Glad to see that Josh's work with Architects doesn't stop him from continuing to grow his own band. Josh is without doubt one of the best frontman/singer/guitarist of his generation along with Matt K. Heafy.
