@@damiendelvallee7256 Yes, it was. In fact, Josh ended Sylosis in 2016 because of his self-imposed restrictions on how the band should sound (E standard tuning, 80s thrash as a primary influence, vintage-oriented production, no breakdowns, etc.). He immediately started writing songs for a new project and sent the demos to Nuclear Blast and they said it sounded like Sylosis, so he added some more Sylosis-isms to those songs and made Cycle Of Suffering. The real reason that the hiatus was officially announced was him joining Architects. He slowly worked on recording CoS during the hiatus. Sylosis has been my favourite band since I first listened to them in 2010. 3 singles since Cycle of Suffering is a blessing. It’s really helping out with the wait for the next major album.
I love Sylosis, seen them live more than 6 times and listened to everything they have made. I like this song but I really hope they make thrashier stuff. Thrash is generally dying as a genre and I wish these guys keep it alive.
I've been a fan for a long time to know that I will never be disappointed. Sylosis is the kind of band that you maniacally headbang to its music in public just because you can't help it.
I remember when I discovered Sylosis in 2009, my first song, After Lifeless Years. Just amazing and kept listening, Monolith was the album that made it my top 3 favorite band. Dormant Heart is my favorite song-album, years ago I was dealing with a deep depression and anxiety, but Dormant Heart was there for me when nobody was. You can feel the anger, desperation, impotence, rage in that song it was the perfect representation of my feelings, but listening to it helped me to take all that out of my system, no mention Quiescent. I don't know which situation Josh was living in at that time, but you can feel it in there. Cycle of Suffering was brutal, exactly that I needed to overtake my depression it was released in the perfect time. I'm a very heavy fan of this band, I have a lot of merchandise even I have a tattoo of their logo in my arm. Being said that I'll go to the point, I have been feeling disappointed with the newest releases (the three last singles). I have the sensation that it is not the Sylosis that was improving with every new release. This song specifically sounds over-lowed just to make it heavy. The voice sounds forced just to make it heavy as well. In general the music it is not as complex as the previous albums were, with amazing solos and the perfect effects and speed (the last point applies for the three singles). I didn't say anything in the previous singles because I said "well, all the bands have bad times"; but this song is making me think that Sylosis is lowering the quality of their music and I'm hoping that this can be read by the band and maybe do something better. Whoever read this don't be mad at me, as I said before I'm a heavy fan of this band (perhaps more than you are) since their early stages and I have listened to their evolution and I'm giving my opinion. Cheers
Pienso que están en una etapa influenciada por Architects, y está bien, es natural en todos los artistas. Con este sonido seguramente lleguen a más público que no está acostumbrado a la profundidad de los álbumes anterior. Pueden ser sencillos más accesibles.
