Criminally slept on band, Josh Middleton is a top tier musician
For sure, always has been. As much as I (really) love Architects it's a shame that Josh only recently started gaining more recognition because he's been filling in for them.

Yep been listening to their music for 10 years now never released low grade music, it only gets better with Sylosis.

I wasn't that impressed with I Sever and could never get into Architects more than a few songs,. However now that I've heard this I know my favorite band is back.
Sylosis is something special, man. I really wish more people knew about them. It's one of the bands I'll always recommend.
@Jay Furler AK Yes, its more common to find drop. I mean gojira kind of uses standard, they use d standard (every thing is one tone/note lower btw)
I wonder if its bad marketing, slow realeses (idk I havent looked too far into sylosis) or if Sylosis is the "2nd" band, with architechts taking the spotlight
I just saw them from deans channel and had to head over to listen to this after hearing the riff he played. Definitely going to be digging into them.

This is modern metal I like to listen to. This band deserves more attention.
On the contrary, I liked this because it doesn't sound very much like modern metal.

I know everyone loves Josh, and beleive me he's one of my inspirations, but can we all take a moment to appreicate how much of a good guitarist Bailey also is? He's so tight live it's ridiculous, a front man is only as good as the man who backs him up!
Strong Gojira vibes here. Josh sounds a LOT like Joe Duplantier vocally on this one. Fucking killer as. Always with these guys. And one of the best live bands I've ever seen live.

@@ROFLBOB24 I feel you but Sylosis is one of the very rare exceptions where I can't get burned out by their songs. Since 2013 I've been listening predominantly EotE and Monolith and since then I have connected so many stories, atmospheres and situations of my life to their songs that the records now sounds more like a retrospective journey to me. And I don't even want to count the hours and hours of practicing their songs on the guitar...

Terry Lemis couldn’t agree more! This band is one of the best of the last decade and hopefully they make their mark with this album! So far it sounds like it’s gonna be a fuckin banger from the 2 tracks released so far

Terry Lemis Been listening for 10 years. Can’t believe it’s been that long. Edge of the Earth was just coming out when I discovered Conclusion of an Age. I basically listened to both albums and EPs at the same time. Couldn’t believe how good it all was. I’ve been following ever since.
I only discovered Sylosis last January, but they have been on of my favorite bands since.
People saying it’s too slow and they miss the quick stuff need more patience and a lesson in album and musical dynamic. Sylosis has never been a speed metal band, they use quick and slow elements to create their dynamic. This is track 5 on the album, so needs to be taken in context with what sits around it. Also in terms of tuning D standard may just sit better with his vocal styling on this album.
Imran Akhtar ikr! They must have never listened to Edge of the Earth then!! Which is by far their best work in my opinion.
And now that the album is out. I can say.... I was right. Haha, superb album through and through.

I've been into them since 2011. Their music helped me get through some rough times. Monolith is probably my favorite album by them. Would definitely recommend.

First time I ever saw them play live was when they opened for Lamb Of God, In Flames, and Hatebreed at Roseland NYC! Was instantly hooked and never looked back! Josh Middleton is amazing and Sylosis is incredible
Saw em on the same tour and literally same thing happened. Sylosis rocked my world and they're my favorite band to this day.

Felt this like a blend of Monolith/Dormant Heart sound and that’s pretty fucking awesome!! I’m so glad that one of my fav bands is back!! Helped me so much when I was going through some dark stuff.

Well if they're tuning to D now it is possible to see them going lower for some next albuns which i don't see as a problem its just that Sylosis was always the modern metal band that sounded heavy in E standard and it was kind of an own signature characteristic from the band

While I agree with somberlain that everything they have made is fantastic, I would recommend you start with edge of the Earth. The album is a masterpiece and there is nothing else out there like it

I've never seen anyone pull of this level of guitar playing and vocals at the same time. Josh has always been and always will be a beast.
Not saying Sylosis is bad (I love them and I do think they're the "best" metal band when it comes to musicianship and talent at the moment) but listen to Death or Control Denied. You will like it if you appreciate extremely great musicianship.

Love this band! Saw them open for LOG in San Antonio in 2012. They played REALLY DARK extended guitar solos.... I felt like I was descending into hell. Perfect night for good music I'll never forget!
