      Charles, You are way more advanced than I am. I don't use a spiral any more than I have to..........wouldn't even attempt it on an inlay. I have only been scrolling for about 3 1/2 years. Love your patterns. One of these days I may attempt one.

    Nice instructional video. I am a segmented woodturner so do a lot of glue ups. To conserve glue and make it easier I have a small glass food storage container with a sealed lid, I pour my glue in it then use the brush to dip in the glue then just snap the lid back on and it keeps very well. After a couple of fillings I soak it in water to clean it up.

      Unfortunately, I have a feeling that the majority of people who “dislike” videos on RUclips aren’t doing it because they have legitimate concerns with the quality or content of what’s being presented. Sadly, a certain contingent of people on the internet just really enjoy spreading negativity, and will do it fairly indiscriminately. I found your presentation to be enjoyable, and the information is extremely clear! The only thing future videos could maybe benefit from is some closeup shots, but I understand if that could get in the way of your cutting. Cheers!

    Good job Dave!
    I notice that you have a Pegas scroll saw. The Pegas has only been available in the US for a few months. It is obvious that you have been scrolling longer than that. What saw did you previously use? How do you like the Pegas? What is good about it? What is bad?

    • @davemonk7213
      @davemonk7213  5 лет назад +1

      I've been scrolling for 3 1/2 years. I started out on a Dewalt. I scroll at least 6 hours a day. Wore two out in less than two years. Desided I would buy a Hegner. It is a great heavy duty saw that will probably be going strong when I am gone. I missed being able to top feed so when the Pegas came out I desided I needed one. I love it! I see no negitives at all. Time will tell how it will hold up.

    very good video for inlays. I'm curious about your saws. Pegas is fairly new compared to the Hegner. Is the Pegas easier to use at steep angles or does it vibrate more? Is a Hegner worth the cost?

    • @davemonk7213
      @davemonk7213  4 года назад

      Daniel, Sorry for the slow response. I wore out two Dewalts in two years so I broke down and bought a Hegner. I think it will live longer that me. It is super heavy duty saw. When I owned the Dewalts I was a top feeder and missed that with the Hegner. When the Pegas came out I thought I needed one. It is a smooth running saw and I like the tilting head and being able to top feed. I do all of my inlay work on it. I try doing most of my cutting on my hegner because I know it is a much more heavy duty saw. I'm sure I have only confused you.

Do you mean to keep the blade on the right side of your pattern at all times? I'm not sure what you guys mean by, keep it to the right side. Keep what to the right side? What is the name of the filler you used?

    • @davemonk7213
      @davemonk7213  2 года назад

      Carol, Currently I am using Timbermate Water based filler. It comes in a lot of colors. I have also found if I mix fine saw dust with shellac it also works well. Since I made this video I bought a drum sander so after I glue my inlays in I run it through that and then finish up with my orbital. If you just have an orbital that will work fine. Sorry for the Slow response. I would not like to have to give up either saw. The Hegner is more of a production saw. It will probably out live me. I like to be able to top feed on large project. The Pegas has that capability. If I could only have one it would probably be the Pegas.

      @@bobbybobby7568 I love both my saws. One thing I really like about the Pegas is that I like being able to top feed which you can't with a Hegner. The best thing about the Hegner is that it doesn't have many bearing so there isn't much to wear out. It will last the rest of my life. I scroll about 6 hours a day so if the Pegas was my only saw I question if it would last me forever. I do a lot of inlay work so I really like the tilting head of the Pegas for that.
