I wasn't going to watch this. Not because I didn't like it, just haven't got a use for one. How wrong I was. I fell in love with this, it's simplicity, light weight and general "look" changes my mind. Also some of the sanding tips, make great sense and now i understand more about the use of one of these. Looks like when it gats released over here in UK, I'll be buying one, Thanks for the review, you changed my mind!!!!!!!!!!
I saw this sander and thought about the 90mm Festool Rotex sander, although just about the only thing these two sanders have in common is the disk size. (The Festool sander has a gear drive mode, runs on AC not batteries, and has an accessory triangle/delta pad attachment for getting into corners, and is a good bit more expensive.). I bought one to use on vehicles...have actually never used it to sand wood.
This one has dust collection, which is really nice vs. the detail sander. The detail one isn’t random orbit, so I think that means it’ll remove more material but is also more likely to leave swirl marks.
The detail sander does have a 1.5mm orbit but not the large random orbit and you are right about the dust collection. It would be nice if the detail sander had that but I still love it. I am on the fence as to whether or not to get this one when it comes out. @@gf2e
I thought the same, but I still bought it. Have you got the m12 6 inch sander? I saw it was made for automotive, so I wasn't sure if it was meant for woodworking.
May be hard to compare, because the 2531 is orbital-only, not random orbital. As Tim shows in the video, it's pretty easy to stall the random function.
@@peteh8077 I’m sorry I have a rotary and everything, I meant can this be used as a DA polisher for tight spots like the little Rupes or that crazy 800 dollar little interior DA? But yea do they make little DA pads and you can use it for interior and tight spots?

I can't wait to get my sander delivered! I pre order the first day it was up for pre order
Going to purchase this for headlight restoration.
Check out the detail sander
@p0weraid Thanks, now I want both.
How do you change the disc pad? Is it a 1/4-20 thread like the detail sander? Thank you
I want it, but help me justify it already having an m12 detail sander and a 5 inch sander. Does this fill a niche that those can't?
Yes, your detail sander gets the nooks’n’crannies. This will help with the curves and smaller pieces. Your 5” obviously is for larger surfaces.

The question I've got is do I need this when I already have the detail sander???? Thanks!!!!!

I can see myself using this on sanding stairs
is this comparable with the 2531-20 power wise?
May be hard to compare, because the 2531 is orbital-only, not random orbital. As Tim shows in the video, it's pretty easy to stall the random function.
'loop' is the fuzzy side. Hook and loop. One on each side
Want to get this sander but the kit I got is the M18 would my M18 charger work to charge the M12 battery
No, the M18 charger will not charge the M12 battery. They do have a dual charger that has an M18 and M12 port for charging the 18V and 12V batteries.
@@Shoptoolreviews what you think of the M18 sander
Make one that you can change head most people one 2”. Or make a 2” already how long can we wait already make it before we buy off brand
Can you use it as a detail rotary polisher for detailing?
No, it's DA only.
Milwaukee makes a dedicated rotary pistol grip M12 rotary polisher/sander

@@sydneykillian3685you may be able to however you may have trouble finding the polishing pad, but yes it will
Tim Johnson are you a lefty too. Must be something with the great Johnson's 😂lol
Does it have balls? Like the big brother 5” random or it sander only smaller
A M12 tool ..? I gotta watch this .. but I gotta buy a 1/2 stubby impact first ..
I have the M12 impact driver and it’s great; compacte and plenty of power for me. But, I’m not framing houses. If I were, I’d definitely rock an 18v.
I certainly won’t be buying one for $180. No way.
$250 canadian
