Saying 9/11 was faked is like saying the tsunami that hit Japan was faked.

One of the most remarkable, positive, things I've ever witnessed through a live broadcasts, was the rescuing of the 33 miners trapped in a mine in Chilli in 2010. That would have been a nice positive addition to this list. I remember this so well. I was in bed with the flu, so I got to watch nearly all of it. It was pretty amazing!

The 2011 tsunami was sadder than words can express. I used to live in Japan and donated money that I really couldn’t afford but knew was needed for the cleanup efforts and help people affected. Japanese folks are the nicest people I’ve ever known and were always helpful to me when I lived there.

Definitely. Some might consider the December 26, 2004 tsunami that devastated the Indian Ocean to be far worse because of the higher death toll and the fact that the majority of the deceased were tourists as it was the day after Christmas and so the tourists who died were spending the Christmas holidays in the warmer weather of countries such as Indonesia and Thailand.

I’ve become desensitized to it because I’ve watched so many documentaries about 9/11 but it really is disturbing and truly horrific when you remember that you’re watching hundreds of people die in an instant, not to mention hundreds more when the towers collapse. As someone who only remembers kids talking about it at school the next day, it’s hard for me to really comprehend, as it is for many young people; what it must have been like to see it happen live, especially as an American. Twenty two years later, it is still the biggest single event to happen in this century and the only thing to create more of an impact then it is the COVID pandemic.

These are events that a lot of people were watching live--that's the point. It's not the worst events in history just modern day live TV events in real time. The events in the video aren't even all USA events. If they just wanted to show serious events we could watch a movie about WWII where millions died. Don't be a dufus. People weren't watching Hiroshima on TV. 5,000 people died in the 1900 Galveston, Texas hurricane, but there was no TV then. I don't think the race car one should have been in this list. Surely there were bigger TV events than that one.

The Air Florida flight 90 crash played out in front of me on TV, yet less than ten miles from where I stood. It is something I will never forget as it happened in my home town. The aircraft struck the 14th street bridge here in DC on Jan 13, 1982. The helicopter hovering and dragging to shore as it saved as many people as it could, the bystanders jumping into the water to rescue others. It bring tears to my eyes to remember that terrible day.

After the initial shock, the crying began. They sent everyone home early.

Cooper Foushee Why does that question even need answering? Are you ignorant to the world you live in or just an idiot? The list of reasons is never ending. An excuse for war, money, a way for Bush to gain the support of the people as he knew he was hated by most... What are the lives of a few thousand people to a government when trillions of dollars worth of oil are just lying in the middle east waiting to be had? The government don't care about the people, and you're a moron if you believe they do. They care about numbers, taxes, money, and power. Not people. By planning the 9/11 attack and blaming it on "terrorists", it gave the US an excuse to wage war on the middle east and pillage their oil fields raking in trillions of dollars. By brain washing the American public and pinning it on the middle east, it meant the people supported Bush's war plans rather than rebelling against him and stopping him from doing it. It also increased the amount of volunteers into the military, increasing America's military power. If you boil it all down, then war is about one thing - money. And the amount of money the US government gained from killing a few thousand of it's own people is unfathomable. Not to mention the false trust Bush earned from the people, and the growth in military... Also, if you were wise to the world, then you would understand how hijacking several passenger planes and flying them so far off course WITHOUT alerting anyone is completely impossible. The whole event is a massive lie, and it's disgusting just how many people believe it. People call me crazy for thinking it's a lie, but it makes a hell of a lot more sense than a bunch of unqualified sand crawlers (no racism intended) hijacking passenger planes and flying them over one of the busiest cities in the world and into two of the most important buildings into the world. The fact that people believe THAT is what's fucking crazy.

Sorry to break it to your friend... 9/11 was an inside job... those were controlled demolitions. If u want to know the truth look up some conspiracy theories and keep an open mind. I don't know who wanted this to happen but it was a shoddy job at best to destroy all the evidence. Once you figure that whole mess out, a couple questions arise. Who is the enemy then? Wasn't it Osama? Does Osama exist? Or is he just a character? A face to pour your hatred into. Planes didn't bring down the world trade centers. You can't even back that idea with science.

Greetings World, We are Anonymous. For the last two months, we have been consistently reporting on a possible global conflict, World War 3 between the United States and its allies in the West, and Russia and its allies in the East. The dispute on the South China Sea has severely damaged the United States relations with the Peoples Republic of China. After the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague ruled that China's nine-dash-line claim in the South China Sea, and its land reclamation activities on islets are invalid and unlawful, the United States has been preparing to sail in the area under a so-called Freedom of Navigation principle. This has angered the Chinese. In August, the Chinese Defense Minister, Chang Wanquan told his country's citizens to prepare for, what he described as the peoples war at sea. Mr Wanquan was referring directly to the United States planned provocation under the pretext of Freedom of Navigation. China has since vowed to take all necessary measures available to protect its sovereignty over the South China Sea, revealing that it had the right to set up an air defense zone on the sea. China has also since been positioning and testing its nuclear weapons, and planning military drills on its waters with Russia. Even the United States has confirmed that China has tested an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile, which is capable of striking everywhere in the world within half an hour. Moving away from the South China Sea, we arrive in Syria. It is an open secret that the civil war in Syria is a proxy war between the United States and Russia. Russia has even intervened physically on the request of the Syrian government. The United States, unable to get any invitation, has been openly and secretly arming many rebel groups in the country, with open plans to overthrow the Syrian government. Of course, since Russia honored the invitation of the Syrian government last year, the war has been turning in favor of the Syrian government, which was falling before Russia's intervention. As we speak now, tension is mounting between the United States and Russia. Nerves are at their highest since the Cold War era. The United States, at the moment, is sitting on tenterhooks. Many officials in the president Obama administration are frustrated and confused regarding the situation in Syria. The United States has announced that it has ended all contacts with Russia in Syria. This announcement by the United States comes as Russia, beginning on September. 22nd, intensified its military operations in Syria, with the intentions to capture the city of Aleppo for the Syrian government. Diplomatic efforts to put an end to the fighting in Syria, have collapsed. As the Aleppo operation continues, Russia has given the United States a stern warning not to take any action against the Syrian government forces. In fact, there are many Russian jet fighters stationed in Syria, ready to shoot down any United States jet fighter that attempts to strike on the Syrian government forces. These developments from Moscow are not going down easily with the United States. The United States Secretary of State, John Kerry, is said to have urged president Obama to intervene and face the consequences from Russia. He is said to have even favored a nuclear deterrent against Russia. However, it appears that before Kerry could even make this suggestion to president Obama, the Russians had already gathered intelligence on the happenings within the White House. According to Zvezda, a Russian defense ministry Television channel, the country has started preparing its citizens for a possible nuclear war with the United States - because of the mounting tensions in Syria. Russia has since moved to deploy nuclear-capable Iskander missiles in its western-most region, Kaliningrad, which borders on NATO members of Poland and Lithuania. Due to how the situation has become, some top officials at the United States defense headquarters have finally spoken. These Pentagon officials have admitted that World War 3 is imminent, and that its going to be deadly and fast. The military generals were speaking on a future-of-the-army panel in Washington. “A conventional conflict in the near future will be extremely lethal and fast, and we will not own the stopwatch,” Major General William Hix said. General Hix also stated that China and Russia's armies are becoming increasingly technological, and that the Pentagon was getting ready for violence on the scale that the United States Army has not seen since Korea. His comments were also echoed by lieutenant Gen Joseph Anderson and Chief of Staff, Gen Mark A. Milley, who described war between nation states as almost guaranteed. The generals also said apart from the conventional battle, cyber battle, too, has become a reality against the United States, revealing that even smaller nations are launching it against the country. We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us.

For all the people saying the video is shit because 9/11 was number #1: this is a video about the CRAZIEST envents caught live, it has nothing to do with patriotism. I understand a tsunami can be very shoking, but it's not crazy, it's a natural disaster that has happened a lot of times already. I think watching a live broadcast about 2 planes with passengers crashing into the most important buildings of the world, watching people falling to their death and watching a mountain of smoke rising in the city of New York from the collapse of two enormous buildings... it's the craziest. If all those good people in the world who never hurt a thing, all those good souls who help others for nothing in return, but never found way to god don't deserve nice afterlife, because as you state it's the rule, then i don't wanna ever be any part of it. Or is there possibility that people have misunderstood some of the meanings and you just blindly following. It's simple really for me. People are just nice or not, no meter where they from or what the heck they believe in.

these are some truly defining moments in history, BECAUSE they were witnessed by world wide audiences live. Every single one played some part in changing how people are informed, how media covers developing stories, and in revealing the benefits and costs of live news coverage. These are some of the most remembered moments in history when you ask those who watched at the time, because the experience is remembered by more than just those who were there. Everyone was affected by 9/11 because every one saw it happen. And even years after the fact the emotion contained in those terrifying moments is immortalized for future generations.

I'll never forget the 2001 & 2011 incidents. I was still in high school when 9/11 occurred. I'd missed my school bus, but my parents took me to school. The furthermore they heard about the news, they decided to come back & get me within an hr. or less. We all thought either the apocalypse was occurring or that it was the "tip of the iceberg" of it. I think we were right on the 2nd part...
The Fukishima incident in 2011 (as well as other surrounding areas in Japan) had me in deep tears. I was highly worried about all those ppl over there.

    1) Moon landing? Anyone? Covered live, watched by the whole world... I mean, they put a TV camera on the moon and filmed Armstrong's first steps. On the moon. Earth was united. I mean come on! Has anything like that happened before or since?
    2) Can we use a word other than "crazy" here? Somehow the word doesn't seem to be a good description of the fall of the Berlin Wall, 9/11, the Munich massacre, or a lot of other events. Tearing down the Berlin Wall was a perfectly sensible thing to do actually. Not very crazy.

Sure, fine, whatever, but it was a unique moment on TV. The whole world was tuned in at once, with a common wish of success, a common fascination with human potential. There were no enemies in the world for those few minutes when Neil and Buzz were shown walking on the moon. The people of the world got back to their hatred again afterwards, but that moment had the world absolutely spellbound. I won't argue about the truth of the moon landing here. There are other places for that. In any case, it is undeniable that it changed the world more than any live televised event, except maybe 9/11.

I missed your comment. Sorry! It changed the world in that the entire world, for the first time ever, put hatred and xenophobia aside and gathered together to witness something that was extraordinary. On that day, the Soviet people and government alike were our friends and had nothing but goodwill in their hearts for the success of the mission. It was like that all over the world. Everyone seemed to stop hating and felt united as humans as we watched the most amazing human achievement ever, live on TV. There was a universal sense of awe. That is how it changed the world. It was a temporary change, but is was scarcely short of miraculous.
(Even if some of you insist on your silly theories that we never went to the moon, you have to understand the social impact at the time was very real.)

i remember 9/11. i was in third grade at the time. we were in the classroom doing some kind of art project or something when a message was sent out through the speakers for the teachers to turn on the TV and go to the news channel. i saw the planes hit the towers live and will never forget it. the scary thing is my grandfather was supposed to be in the wing that the pentagon was hit and my grandmother was supposed to be in the trade center. my grandfather's meeting was rescheduled because a navy captain had taken the room. the captain, along with everyone else in that room, was killed. my grandmother's office in the trade center was under renovations when it was hit and therefor was at home. i dont know how or why but my family that day didnt have a guardian angel. we had a whole platoon of angels and the base they lived in.

Something that should’ve been an honorable mention was the death of a Pennsylvanian politician named R. Budd Dwyer. I don’t remember the whole story, but he was convicted of bribery and was sentenced to 50 or so years in prison. One day in 1987, he gave a press conference and many thought he was going to resign. But after he made a speech and handed off some papers to his colleagues (they were discovered to be three letters, one of them was addressed to his wife), he took a gun out of an envelope and unalived himself not only in a room full of people, but on national television. The graphic unedited footage is one of the most bone chilling things ever and very horrific to watch. Just seeing the life go out of someone in a blink of an eye is very upsetting.
I believe many years later, he was later found innocent as someone allegedly lied under oath about Dwyer. But still, it was a very tragic end to what seemed like a good and honest yet troubled man.

Though the earthquake also showed the world how advanced Japan's earthquake early warning system is. Japan's earthquake early warning system detects tremors, calculates the epicenter, and sends out warnings from over a thousand seismographs scattered throughout the country. The Japan Meteorological Agency is responsible for issuing the warnings; and does so by sending alerts to television channels, radio stations, Internet sites, and mobile phone networks. When the earthquake struck eighty miles offshore; warnings were generated in three seconds. The tsunami warnings came three minutes later. Tsunami warnings take longer to issue because more complex calculations are involved; and ocean data has to be factored into the equation. Though because the first tsunami waves struck the Japanese coastline within twenty minutes of the earthquake; the advanced warning provided some residents with crucial minutes to evacuate all coastal areas and riversides in the warned area and get to high ground. The system also halted the Shinkansen bullet trains, suspended operations of the Tokyo subway system, and halted surgeries in progress at various hospitals as well as giving factories ample time to stop the assembly lines and shut down production equipment so the employees could evacuate the facilities. Power was cut off to four million buildings and phone service was knocked out. Flights that tried to land at both Haneda International Airport and Narita International Airport- both of which are in Tokyo- had to be diverted to American military bases elsewhere in Japan. High rise office buildings in Tokyo swayed back and forth for half an hour because of the aftershocks.

They say you can't remember things that happened before you were 4, but I definitely remember walking into the living room either on September 12th or September 13th and seeing two towers on fire on the TV.

I actually remember learning Maths around that time when I was in Primary School. I think I might have been seven. No one knew, obviously, since there was no TV and all the staff were busy. It was only until when I older when I actually paid attention to what had happened on that day, since until then I was just an innocent kid. As soon as I found out about it, all the memories came flooding back and I could remember exactly where I was and what I was doing on that day when I was seven, considering that I find it hard to remember anything else beyond that. Likewise, I can remember where I was on 7/7.

The Tohoku Earthquake in Japan was quite unforgettable for me my friends in service. I was deployed in the USS Essex and we just made port in Malaysia, within 12 hours of just being in port, all ships within the 7th fleet, including the Essex, was called to assist a humanitarian operation in Japan, hence Operation Tomodachi (Japanese word meaning "brotherhood"). All US military members stationed in Japan along side with Japanese Maritime Self Defense force worked together for over a course of a month to clear debris and aid the people who are in need of food, water and most importantly shelter and warmth, during the operation, it was winter time in Japan.

I was in eighth grade on 9/11 during a math test. The principal came over the intercom and told all teachers to turn on their TV's immediately. Our teacher tried to say no but a student got up and turned it on and turned to the news just as the second plane hit. It was one of the strangest thing I had ever witnessed, none of us had any idea what was happening. I was a waitress when the tsunami in Japan hit. Watching the news all day at work about the people drowning and the water destroying everything was a close second to watching 9/11.

Expect us.

I remember watching the late night news one night, and it mentioned a plane flying into the WTC, but at the time (like 2am?) I thought it was a movie and just went to bed. Was pretty shocked to see that it was actually happening when I got up a few hours later.
Also, although the WTC attacks were shocking due to sudden and violent nature of a man-made attack, I personally think the the tsunami was the craziest thing I've seen. People driving cars outrunning the wave, watching streets fill with water until buildings were little more than islands, and seeing buildings with people standing on them collapse under the pressure of the water, people in cars getting carried along and boats getting washed into the centre of towns. Oh, and yeah, the Nuclear Plant going all Chernobyl on everything to top things off.
