I know it's not as severe as other events in this video,

Bud Dwyer's suicide was the most emotionally shocking thing I've seen on TV.
I offer a warning: do not seek that video out unless you're prepared. It is a thoroughly uncensored video of a deeply troubled human shooting himself in the head at a press conference. If you still have any innocence, avoid it. Study the story instead.

    • @JordanHB77
      @JordanHB77 9 лет назад +56

I don't plan on watching the video, but can you explain what happened and what caused him to do something like that?

    • @ThisHandleFeatureIsStupid
      @ThisHandleFeatureIsStupid 9 лет назад +11

To put way more simply than it should be told:
Bud was accused of taking bribes, which led to a legal ordeal.
The timing and fashion of his suicide was meant as a statement toward what he perceived as a backstabbing by "the system", for whom he had worked and to which he had dedicated most of his life. If he had waited until his sentencing, his family would not have been entitled to the benefits they received as a result of his death *while in office*.
The full story can be researched without having to see the video. I recommend doing so.

420Kasper420 I fully agree with this sentiment, there are some things you just can't un-see (thx for bringing that memory back btw ;-) ) that _was_ thoroughly disturbing. There again, given the fact that more or less _everyone_, _everywhere_ has a video camera _all the time_ these days, I'm surprised you don't see more public self executions, although I'm willing to bet the rent there _have_ been a few on yt that just got censored before they went viral. I guarantee they _would_ go viral too, because human nature just *loves* to watch a train wreck.

The Budd Dwyer suicide is probably one of the most disturbing things on this list

Have you any idea how long it takes to mobilise a whole angry country into agreeing with something they hate? Two weeks isn't enough time.

Mick Thunder This is a video about televised events you utter numpty!
As for British involvement in Iraq. I opposed it as did majority of the people. Only Labour and Tony Blair dragged us kicking and screaming into that conflict.
As for India. Their were massacres taking place there before Britain arrived and whether you like to admit it or not. We left India in a democratically more stable state than before we arrived.
As for Africa. Majority of African imperialism and Colonialism took place at the hands of the French and Germans.
I shall await your outpouring of vitriol against them...

This is the most self-centered string of comments I have read. Are you trying to be funny by making a sarcastic comment about someone dying on your birthday? First off, the phrases "sarcastic comment" and "someone dying" should NEVER be used in the same sentence, and I regret that I just did. Second, why would that be the first thing you think when there are some millions of people dead because of the other events shown in this video? Not trying to be rude, just pointing that out. I am truly sorry that your birthday became a little less happy, his death affected a lot of people :(

Adeleigh Parcell I don't really know why people become so invested in celebrities' lives to the point that if one high profile celebrity dies, who probably wouldn't really give two shits if a fan dies, everyone looses their shit. Michael Jackson made great music, but his death was just another day for me. People die every day.

  • @rchowins

Ok look, the reason the US dropped the atomic bombs on Japan is because the only other way to end the war would have been an invasion of the Japanese islands. Which would have resulted in the deaths of millions on both sides. But not just American and Japanese lives but also English lives. Since the US help England fight the Nazis, the English would most likely returned a favor and help fight the Japanese. So it comes down to this, the death of thousands or the death of millions.

Testing was about people health consiquences, and this was perfect timing for that, so you could tell some shit like "we nuked Japan to end war." No japanese doctors were allowed to cure wounded. But there were american camps to study how radiation affect on human.

Since WW2, Earth has had 248 armed conflicts. The US started 201 of them.
248 armed conflicts after WW2; US started 201 (81%), killing 30 million so far. You do the math... Oh wait you are American and cannot do math and think math is some voodoo scary thing that only scientists can do.

I love how everyone talks loads of shit about America and how fat and ignorant we are, but the second war breaks out everyone's begging for our help. With Japan in WWII we gave them multiple chances to surrender without needed to drop a bomb, and they refused. We told them what we were gonna do if they didn't surrender, and they didn't listen. That's their own damn fault.

listen bud, let me break it down to you Barney style. The US had to drop the bombs because if they didn't and the US had to invade the home islands the death toll wouldn't be a few hundred thousand people, it would be a few million. The Japanese war propaganda machen had it so that the people thought the US troops were coming to rape their children and wives, burn down everything.
There was an island that the US took during the war, and every man woman and child on the island (Japanese) jumped off a cliff in to the water and rocks below other then be captured by the US.
Now lets talk about the troops, with out a surrender from the Emperor of Japan him self. Every single troop would fight until death, taking as many Americans as they could with them, just look at the Kamikaze raids on the ships, or the Bonzi charges on land.
The US had 1,000,000 purple hearts made for just the invasion of Japan, I don't know if you know what a purple heart is, but it is for people who get hurt/killed. and they made a million just for the invasion alone, that should tell you something about the casualties they were expecting.
Also we knew that Nazi germany was trying to make a bomb, so we had to start our own, and we beat them too it.

I'm late here but I love how everybody disses and hates on America simply because they think that the do things senselessly with no reason , not only that but i also see that people stereotype Americans more then any other country then complain when Americans stereotype type back then when some Americans understandably get upset and yell at these people from diffrent countries everybody spreads rumors and more stereotypes that their all mean, believe it or not im German and ever most Americans i've meant ARENT fat and are very friendly and sweet for example people i know from Britan they tell me that you usually dont see people walking down the street and someone saying hi for the hell of it they keep to themselves( This is what a few of my British friends tell me so im going off of what they say may not be true) well in america people say hi just because they can though not all Americans are nice and not everything they have done was necessary its all for a reason. Back during WW2 The Japanese believed in fighting to the last man woman and child , The USA realized charging the small island would make the war twice as long and would end in massive casualties on both sides for the allies and axis the only alternative they had was the nuke, It was quick, killed many , and would end the war sooner though back then they had no clue of the fallout of the nuke it was the best option and actually saved MORE lives then if the USA would have stormed the island, So everyone stereotyping and yelling at America just rember that and also rember that in other countries eyes your country is just as horrible as any other the reason stereotypes and bad opinions are mad about diffrent country is its simply not your country and everyone no matter race or where they live want to belive their country is perfect and with out fault when in reality every country as fucked up in big ways some how. i mean Germany and their purge of the jews, the USA with the Bombings, many other countries with threats of terroism which scared the USA and forced them to move in on the threat, and many others.

For those saying that the atomic bombings on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were justified because of Pearl Harbor, you're wrong. The Japanese never fired a single shot on civilians and only attacked the military because they knew self control. I'm not Japanese but I can understand the pain and hate they probably felt when the United States murdered in cold blood 200,000 civilians who never even wanted to be in a war.

I myself have been to Pearl Harbor... and I stood over the sunken ship of the USS Arizona. Acting as an underwater tomb to the innocent men who had died defending it from the Japanese invaders. The Japanese murdered them in cold blood, so they retaliated. Now can you justify that for me please?!

Maximum Vehicular Splatter theyre were so many civilians at pearl harbor guy . plus the japanese wouldnt of stopped fighting if we hadnt dropped the bombs, to much honor...

The Pacific War was way more than Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima/Nagazaki. Although it did had civs there, Pearl Harbor is just symbolic, not the real justification to drop the bomb.
The fact it that the Japanese gov was refusing to surrender, waiting to make a "final battle" (Operation Ketsugo), with american troops in Japanese soil, making the casualities so heavy to the western forces that the US would accept peacy by negotiation, not only a inconditional surrender.
Hiroshima was the HQ of the Second General Army, responsible to defend the south coast of Japan against the Allied Invasion (Operation Downfall). After Tokyo, it was the most important city in that specific moment. Also, both cities had inumerous armament factories.
The need to make the Japenese surrender was a reality, and the A-bombs, plus the join of URSS in the war, was the fast and safest way to reach that, to both sides.
The atomic bombs destroyed two cities. A full escale invasion would level the entire country
