Star Wars is heavily inspired by European culture especially with Roman and Greek culture. Especially on how the Galactic Republic is form is very similar to Rome and Greece. Even the architecture in Star Wars like the planets of Naboo and the government buildings of Coruscant are based on Roman, Italian and Greek architecture.
