    Wow, so many people hating on this beautiful artwork. I dig the color choices and the style. I hope to get my hands on this as it looks right up our alley.

      +Jeffery Hunt I have to say. Artwork is a huge turnoff to me as well. It just looks bland.

      +Nate Linhart Well Nate, I have to say that I have indeed since gotten the game, and I'll also say that it is pretty great. I've played with 2, 5, and 4. So don't let the art turn you away from great gameplay!

      I shouldn't honestly.
      I'll try it at some point.

    Just played this for the first time this weekend. 7 years after this video was recorded. Everything you said then still holds true. I may have to get this for my own collection.

    I hate most flashy art styles of modern board games but I like this one.

    Without your hat your unrecognizable. Besides that, looks like an amazing worker placement game, have yet to play it but it's at the front of the line now.

      Ha. I also just played this for the first time this weekend. We’re late to the party on this one. But alas. So many games. So little time. But it goes to show. Cult of the new isn’t always the best. There are some great classics.

    This looks like a game I would enjoy as well. My only concern is that the interaction seems quite low. The trading post board seems kinda "glued" to the game in order to fix that, but I have my doubts.

    Tom Vasel, I was surprised that you like this one - not that I disagree with your assessment in the least. Shows me that I don't quite know your full range of taste in games. :)
    Thanks for the review.

    Being that you enjoyed this game so much, would be curious to hear your thoughts on another bag building game, Hyperborea.

    The mechanics are interesting, but I wish there were more interaction in this game.

    that's a lot of boards for one game!
    The scoring track reminded me of Airlines Europe.

    How did this game hold up over the years? Did new worker placement games replace it? If so, which ones?

    The Dice Tower Hey Tom just wondering would this get included in your Top 10 Eurogames of all time? If not Top 20, 50? Haha thanks!

    Would Orleans have made your top 10 of 2014 if you'd played it earlier?

      No. Top 20, though!

      The Dice Tower So 20 games made it into your collection this year?

    • @thedicetower
      @thedicetower  9 лет назад +5

      ***** I'm actually not sure of the number, but not every game that makes it into my collection is "the best". Other factors, such as box size, similar games, how much my family likes it, other people in the group already owning it, etc. all come into play.

    • @Xaintrix
      @Xaintrix 9 лет назад

      ***** Well his shelves are already filled with great games (seeing as he's culled his collection a number of times) - so a junk game won't go up there just because the form factor's right.

    Amazing game.

    Is it really that much different than a deck building game though?!

    • @TeChNoWC7
      @TeChNoWC7 6 лет назад +1

      Yes, because it's also a complex euro. It's like playing Terra Mystica mixed with Dominion (kind of)

  • @1NaturalMystik1

    seems like it'll take to long to set up, and it has lots of moving pieces. for a beginner boardgamer like myself i think this would be to difficult to play.

    • @jasonbagley3712
      @jasonbagley3712 9 лет назад +1

      Probably not as long as you think to set up. It would take much less than some games like Le Havre or Eclipse (Maybe not your kind of games), but probably about as long as to set up a game of Monopoly when everything in the box has been scrambled, and certainly less time than Risk (when you include placing your initial pieces).
      As far as difficulty, I don't think this is that difficult. It is probably a gateway game for beginning gamers (probably not for someone who doesn't play any games). I think a beginning gamer is more likely to become paralyzed by the options than having difficulty in playing or even at doing well in the game.
      But if you'd like a good beginner level game (which takes longer to set up than this, I think), you could try Suburbia. It is awesome! Definitely some analysis paralysis potential, but overall great for new players. I've had more first-timers win Suburbia than any other game I own.

    I thought this game looked 'meh' (and, well, it does look kinda bland) but seeing how it's played, it looks fantastic and I really want to get my hands on it! Thanks Tom : )

    This game looks GREAT. Mechanically sound and simple enough to play with the family...except, how am I going to convince my family to play it f it looks like a dry euro? Argh!
    The theme and the art design is going to make my two 16 y.o. run from the room. They should've tweak the art design and perhaps even the theme a bit to make it more attractive and appealing.

    Hi Tom, I watch nearly all your videos when I can. Could I please make a request to bump you review of the Witcher Adventure Game up in your rotation. I live in Australia and there are virtually no copies and what there is, is expensive. I only request this as I am getting the collectors edition for my ps4 and have never being able to play the series because my laptop could not run the Witcher 2.
    I value your reviews highly and heard you mention that you would be getting around to reviewing it soon. I ust don't want to wait for another print run and it is really expensive to get some games shipped here. Like for example I watched you guys play Tumblin Dice and want some dexterity games. It would cost me $400 to get that game. Please don't see this as being pushy I guess I am just anxious to know what you think of it and trust your opinions not to be biased, especially after seeing your review on Red Code. Which by the way is one of my favourite reviews, very entertaining as I have never seen you so upset over a game so far.
    Please consider, I guess I will try to be patient as possible.
    Regards
    Julian

      In case you don't already know, you can get the digital version of the Witcher Adventure Game on Steam, or iOS, I think Amazon's platform as well. For under $10 bucks. It should run pretty easily on any computer I'd think, not much to it.

    Subjective opinion but this game looks ugly and the theme doesn't pull me in. I'll pass.

    This seems like an odd choice for Tom. The game looks to have absolutely no theme, which he seemed to rail against in the past. It also seems quite fiddly. Maybe Tom has acquired a new taste for Eurogames?

      Medieval theme does not equal no theme.
