    I'm always impressed at how many videos you guys manage to upload on a regular basis.
    Keep up the great work. I love this channel although you've managed to break my heart more than once when I saw a great game on here only to find out that the game never made it to the german market.

    I don't usually gravitate toward this kind of game, but I agree, the cardplay looks very compelling.

    This game has been high on my watch list because of the designer. Glad to hear it's great!

    Seems like a good step up (or alternative) for those who start with Catan. The colors of the board and wood buildings will ring familiar.

    Can you compare it to Imperial Settlers?
    Seems close enough mechanic play card for effect / discard cards for effect.
    This one has a board of sorts

    Is there any player interaction?

    I like the mechanics ... but sadly, and I know this is the case with many euros, there seems to be ZERO interaction in this game. Each player just seems to sit in his corner of the board doing his own thing. Am I wrong to assume this is the case? Is there any interaction at all?

      Karl Barbosa you're right...there is no interaction

    Thank you, Tom. This is one of two Essen games on my radar, with Patchwork being the other. Will likely keep it on my wishlist.

    Hmm, some lines can be drawn between Deus and Wingspan...
    Cool.

    The map tiles don't look very attractive to me, but everything else is interesting.

    Alright, any idea where the name came from? I mean, from what it looks like, this has nothing to do with any gods, let alone Roman Catholic God or Roman gods. So why use Latin for this game? Also, the cover doesn't seem to tell you what's inside the box, does it?

    • @christophersmith8316
      @christophersmith8316 10 лет назад

      The discarding of cards being an "offering to the gods" for benefits is the religious element, I presume

    I don't understand why this game is getting as much attention as it is. Seems to be a rather bland compilation of existing mechanisms and nothing really all that exciting. Trade this for that to get this other thing, turn that in with something else to get a piece in an area that gives you VPs in the end. Yawn

      That's just an oversimplification of every Euro.

    • @adlertag262
      @adlertag262 10 лет назад

      Good point. I think that's exactly what makes this look so dull.

    • @12345678abracadabra
      @12345678abracadabra 10 лет назад +1

      I have a sense you don't like Euros. So why bother letting us now? It's one thing to ask for Euro suggestions to get into the genre, it's another to just diss and leave.

      12345678abracadabra I enjoy euros -- Bazaar, Romolo o Remo, Pillars of the Earth, 7 Wonders, many more ... Deus just doesn't seem to add anything to the genre and therefore I'm struggling to understand why it's getting so much hype. I was hoping people could help explain its appeal rather than attack the posting.

    • @adlertag262
      @adlertag262 10 лет назад

      Wasn't an attack so much as a challenge for someone to help explain what makes this game worthy of purchase when one already has a trade-this-for-that-to-get-this-for-more-vps games. Since I haven't played it myself, I don't know what makes this so hot. Tom's review didn't really help explain to me why this is getting so much buzz, so I was hoping others might be able to shed additional light on its buzz.

    So a less-charming Catan combined with a less-attractive 7 Wonders, plus a handful of minor interaction mechanics. Meh. No thanks.

      Plus Assault of the Giants engine building and Race for the Galaxy opportunity costs?
