very helpful. I don't build things, but I want to so I was watching this to teach myself how. I am building a 18-20 ft long by 8 foot wide up against my house. at one of the narrow ends is my back door. the other end I want a swing. Do you have any suggestions about additional support since it is much bigger. I only need one swing though.
Very true. Sorry for not including that. No creaking or moving that I could see when in use. I believe we may have gone a bit over kill on the concrete holding the posts but better save than sorry. Thanks!
Do you think that gravel is still gravel once you pour in the concrete?? I think the concrete turns that gravel into concrete and I don’t think the ends on the post rot because of all that concrete around them lol frost won’t push that big thing out I install fences so kinda dug a lot of holes for 4x4’s here in Pa and it’s not that serious lol ❤🫡
The width is 10x10 and the posts are 8ft above ground and you will want to place 2-3feet down into the ground. we used 12ft for the vertical posts and 10ft for the horizontal beams. Thanks!
I'm not sure I follow you on the frost line comment. Where I live the frost depth can go as low as 8 feet. My fence does not go this deep and has yet to become affected.
Very odd idea? 🤔 Too many swings🙄 Why not stain it before you erect it? Fire pit too close. 1 swing would suffice and use chairs. Cover the top with pergola rafters and it will look better. 👌
Learning how to put down Foundations was a bonus Thanks for that too.
I'm glad the video could be helpful! :) Thanks!
I'm building 3 of these this summer and I really liked how simple you made these. thank you for the video. Do you have any videos for the swings?
Very cool. I think you can do a lot with a structure like this.
I think it looks fine...great job!
Thanks! 😀
Love this, definitely gave me an idea of what I want to build. Just would need to make mine bigger, my fire ring is about 5ft round, lol
Also prep posts in ground with water proof material . And especially treat end grain .
Thanks for the tip! I’ll have to try that next time.
Difinatly thinking of doing something similar and making the swing seats myself
Good luck! 👍🏻

GREAT project ! Thank you for the inspiration.
Thanks so much! I appreciate it :)
Brilliant, I need to see how to make swing
i wish there was a videos of people sitting and swinging gently on these. i want to see if it creeks and pulls

Awesome job, top notch professionalism! Really helpful information, thank you.
Thanks! I appreciate it! 😁
What a fun idea!
Thanks! :)
😊🎉that is cool
Thanks! 😊
Simple and Beautiful 👌🏼👍🏼
Thanks! :)
Thank you for the instruction, do you have any estimate of cost
How high off the ground did you hang the swings?
Nice work tho for sure 👍
Thanks! 😃
@@SimonSaysDIY Yes sir 🫡
That’s a lot more work than needed lol
😆
I am not a fan of makin the armrests unusable with this chain going through them, but other than that, nicely done!
Thanks!
I love this😍
Thanks 😊
🎉😂 how do you do it

Thanks for the tips! I imagine the concrete would soak into the gravel and bond with it. But you’re probably right, that post won’t rot any time soon.
@@SimonSaysDIY lol no they won’t not in our life time at least lol 😂
So were these 6x6x12s for the posts in the ground? Or 10s?
We used 12ft 6x6s and cut them down to size as needed.
Do you have video for porch swing?
You guys should build Playgrounds...Bet they'd come out looking great.
That would be fun! :)
Did you drill pilot holes for the lag screws?
We didn’t pre-drill. These lag screws didn’t require pre-drilling. If your using larger lag bolts you will want to pre-drill.
Where did you get the swing? Can you send the link. Thanks
Do you guys have a more in depth video on details of material use. Etc etc.
how damn hard can it be for you to pause the video and take some notes as you cqan see ALL the materials used in the video. geez
How much did this all cost to build in total thinking about taking on this project
How long were your Corner braces before the 45 degree cut? Thank you
What is used to attach to top of frame to the swing
How far away from the fire pit is your legs when swinging with a fire ?
It is a bit close if you are swing while the fire is going. I would recommend not having a large fire going. 😊
PLEASE ADVISE. DOES THE 6 BY 6 WOOD DOESN'T GO BAD IN SNOW OR RAIN ?
If it is pressure treated it should last for many years especially if you keep it stained or painted. Thanks! 😄
Can you use 4x4s instead of 6x6s.
He mentioned in his video to not use 4x4. In all my research for something like this, everyone is using 6x6.
It’s states on the video you can but not recommended as 6x6 will last longer. Not sure what John is talking about
Looks good, where can I get those screws? is it ThruLok ?
Where are u located? If close to Conticut I'd like to hire you both to build me one
I listened several times. Maybe I missed it. How tall and wide is the pergola? What size (in length) post did you use? Will 8 feet posts work?
The width is 10x10 and the posts are 8ft above ground and you will want to place 2-3feet down into the ground. we used 12ft for the vertical posts and 10ft for the horizontal beams.
Thanks!

How long is the 6x6
We started with 12ft 6x6s and put them 4 feet into the ground.
This arbor lacs artistic design elements. It should have done pergola style.
That would be a nice improvement! Thanks 😊
That's the part where your individuality and style comes into play. Use your imagination!
😮
can you build one like that in my house? I will pay you!
What’s the perimeter of that square (ground)?
Nvm, 8 feet apart. How high is it tho?
We have it at 8 feet high. It’s on a slight hill so a few are higher than 8ft to keep the top beam level.
Nice but damn your fire would have to be 6" high only or you will burn your shins and the swings. Definitely way way too close by atleast 1.5-2'
Can I hire you to do the same for my backyard?
I would consider it but sadly I am limited to just the area I live. Thanks! 😄
No material list... Sad
Sorry about that! Thanks for watching!

100% agree that way too many swings and way too close. Maybe they have never actually sat infront of a Bonfire before to know how hot it is??
