What is the footprint of this frame? LxWxH I want to know if it will fit on my porch before I purchase the plans. It looks nice though. I really like the side table additions.
This grand is wanting swing for grands when they visit; however, during the cooler temps in a month or two, planning for winter garden. With the removal of the swing, the frame can be a huge cold frame with transparent tarp to extend the growing season. By summer it gets used again by the grands! Thank you for the plans. Even the cup holders can be tool storage. In the winter garden shed! Very creative!
Been a while since I watched some of your RUclips videos. Watching you is what got me started turning my garage into a workshop and now I'm making tables and other projects. I quite my job and went fulltime a couple months ago. Just wanted to say thank you and appreciate all the work you put into your videos.
Rather dancing in joints, this AW chooses to dance on the joints. Standing/dancing on projects is becoming her hallmark and a good test of integrity. Dance girl, dance!
I love the way you end your video with that wave of your hand.. love the way you do things simple yet intricate. Girl power is not just a phrase and you prove it with your work. Love from Canada..
Great video and very nice looking frame. One suggestion I would have is to ship lap the top support on the inside. Currently the racking force is trying to pushout on the lap joint and only the screws are resisting the force. If it were ship lap on the inside the racking force would push the horizontal member into the joint, not out.
There is something peaceful, even comforting about a porch swing, sitting in the shade, with a gentle sway, enjoying the breeze and watching the world go by according to your own agenda....
Those who live in wetter climates be sure to put your fastners through the underside of joints, so moisture drains naturally. The screw holes collect water and will rot out, even pressure treated lumber pretty quickly, especially if you get freezing temps.
I've found that, instead of using screw-type eyelets, and trusting the threads to carry a load, I feel safer drilling through the beam and using a welded eyebolt with a washer and nylock nut or two nuts jammed together. Especially over time, much less chance of the wood fibers holding screw threads getting stripped. Just my experience.
April thanks for all your great video’s since I have found you and your show I am amazed I am so proud of you I love being a student of yours you are a great person and teacher and you have a beautiful adetude.
I really enjoyed your videos and your little friends running around. I love woodworking and make stuff with my hands. I love your shop lol I want it. I do my work in a open born in my yard.
Ok..... Now I've gotta rebuild my swing stand now. Yours has a shelves for drinks and even to make sun tea if one desires such a splendid beverage. It looks great.
If you used screw eyes to fasten to the top rail I would suggest through drilling and using eye bolts with washers and nuts as they would be a lot more secure. the topcap could be marked and routed to conceal the bolts (and protect them from weather)
A coat of paint on exposed grain ends will about double the life of outdoor wood. Especially: grain ends that are butted to another piece of wood. Painting after assembly will not penetrate the joints, but water will, and it will stay to help the progression of rot. All the braces to my pergolas and gazebo had to be replaced after about 6 years (coming completely apart). Three coats on the ends now!

Good Morning. My name and juarez. I am from Brazil in the state of minas gerais in the city of cataguases. I'll follow you on youtub, I won't miss a video. You girl is an example for many women, I admire you very congratulations for the determination. I do not speak English I am typing in a translator, sorry for possible errors. Be with God a big hug.
Just built one inspired by you . You really really need a friend when putting that top rail in . I was trying by myself and the a frame fell and hit my leg . Its pretty rough .
There might be two thoughts on this. One if the ground is not level where it sits water run off will and take care of itself. The other is to add some sealer on the top. Adding a bevel would be for a good idea if the swing would be sitting on a level surface. All IMO.
Another great job April 👍👍, sure enjoy watching your channel and the great success you have accomplished !!! You’re doing a fantastic job 👍👍. Thanks for sharing with with us.

I ordered plans from you last year and never got anything.

What's the length of the legs?
I just wanna know what’s the cuts called that the top beem fits in

You're welcome! Enjoy the build! Thanks for watching.

The lap joints really clean up the appearance and add structural rigidity. Very nice design.
April's new dance step... The 4x4 hop! 💃
The A-Frame 2-Step.
@@A.R.B.J. I like that one better... You get to pick the dance names from now on 👍
Well, 4x4 would be a square dance...
This is beautiful!!!! You are my hero!!!
The little side tables are great! You could put flowers on them or citronella candles or even both! I think the added tables are a great idea!
Thanks, I do too. I love the look. Thanks for watching.
You have come a long way from working in your garage April. I like the way you smile, keep making videos 👍🏻👍🏻

I love the use of lap joints. Thanks this was a very helpful video for me.
Glad it was helpful!

I think I love this style even more than the roofed one and the end tables make a nice touch! Great video!
You could always add a covered roof on the top plate.
This is the best video I’ve seen. Very detailed and I love it, now i have confidence to tackle my project.
Glad it was helpful!

Another awesome job by the handy handed girl , great job April !
Loved it! I'm an amateur carpenter, I've always been afraid of cutting in angles, but you've inspired me, so I will try! Thank you!
Its great to see you are still uploading nice build videos regularly, unlike Jay and Nick who totally forgot about us, lol.
Absolutely killer April!
Por fin de vuelta no recibía video de usted
Nice job Like your ability working g with wood ... Stay happy and keep those timbers rocking..

Or better, using a bracket, to not weaken the wood
@@douglasflores1462 what kind of bracket?
Flower holder, your end tables. Great project! Be safe, be cool, Beach, NC
It looks great and I bet is used a lot. Take care and stay safe.
April thanks for all your great video’s since I have found you and your show I am amazed I am so proud of you I love being a student of yours you are a great person and teacher and you have a beautiful adetude.

So beautiful & useful
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
grate job April
Very excellent work
I love your Makita..
The statement you made while swing testing answered a lot of questions I had...
Looks great
Nicely done. A very well built swing frame. Thanks.
That chain popping on you was pretty funny. I have had that happen before and it can be quite startling. Nice build!

Great job, April. To get an almost endless supply of cheap wood come to Arkansas. Anything bigger than the local saw mill is considered waste.

once again nice work @AprilWilkerson

I like the plans
Love the frame and swing, and the side tables; great idea and awesome design.
Great video agan thanks 👍
Temper it and all is great!
Great project. For a structure like this I would personally go with something stronger than decking screws.
April next great job😁. I think I want one to my Garden😁
Nice Work… SUBBED!

The side tables will be great for picnics.
Beautiful
