Leaving Death Valley, watched a Class A burn to the frame, at Stovepipe Wells RV park.
The owners watched helplessly. Thankfully they survived. But they stated that barely got out with their pets.
You have the "been there, done that" experience.

Speaking of dog friendly, how many amps does the a/c pull? I travel w/ my dog and am looking for an a/c that can be run while the vehicle is off and that doesn't pull a ton of amps

@@kristyb3714 All AC units use a ton of juice. Even the smallest units need a huge battery bank and over 1,000w of solar. You need to do a lot of research to figure out the math.

My dad full timed for awhile in a class A and I I have to say your van is better thought out and equipped than most RVs I've seen! One of the biggest challenges of RV life is moisture. It looks like using marine grade materials is going to work out very well. I wish you many many safe and fun miles in your new rig!

Great build - congrats. One tip for you to consider: MAKE SURE CAMPERS CLAWS CANT GET CAUGHT IN THE SIDE STEPS. A lot of them have holes that allow a dog claw to pass into a hole and get torn off by the dog’s momentum getting out. Extraordinarily painful injury for the dog and takes them out of commission for walking and hiking for weeks. We glued a bit of indoor/outdoor carpet onto the side step of our 4x4 Sprinter to keep our dogs safe.
I just bought a 22 170 4x4, and the first time my dog jumped in the side door, she stuck her back leg into the gap where the door slide goes. As much as I've looked at the van, I've never noticed the gap. I'm getting a ramp for her because she injured her back even though I was right there and grabbed her so she didn't break her leg. She's doing great on the meds, and the vet said she has a muscle strain and no broken bones. Now I'm looking at everything to make my van dog safe.

I obsessively planned my build for 3 years before actually buying the van and starting the build. I'm very proud of how thorough my plans were and how well it works for me. After seeing your new van, I know where the bar actually is. Fantastic build!! I'm sure it was very expensive but worth every penny. You and the builders did an amazing job.

As a van lifer myself (Revel), I am so happy for you Nikki!! I started watching your channel years ago when you were in your Prius, and you have been through a lot and have found your way from the sardine can to the van! :). During the years you had your Prius, I always thought you needed a Van JUST LIKE THAT. Now you got it!! I love your custom touches also, I've been around and seen a lot of custom builds, and yours is over the top! They could take your van and offer it up as the "Nikki Model" and I bet they'd sell them like crazy. Looking forward to your future adventures! No go break that thing in!!

I have a genuine question, when having break downs and stuff do you guys usually have some general knowledge of what to fix/replace , idk I have terrible luck with cars I feel like but would love to Try the life !
@@bobbyg5236 This is a brand new Mercedes Sprinter. For Nikki specifically I can't say for certain but I don't think she's a mechanic. However closing in on 700k subscribers I'm sure that routine maintenance won't be an issue to keep this going strong for many years. When her Prius started throwing check engine lights and codes she still drove it until she could get it to an actual professional. Eventually you can only push a Prius as hard and far as she did.
Wow Nikki I'm seriously impressed by your new van build. It has everything that a person could need and your input really shows. Love the queen bed, the storage and closets, the shower, the pet friendly upgrades, the kitchen, the tanks...OK just everything about it including the color. It's literally the best build that I've seen yet.

They should offer your build as a standard package and call it the Nikki D! It may be tailored for you and Camper but has the versatility to suit almost any serious vanlifer. I see many awesome adventures in your future with this beautiful beast!

Have to say this one the best builds I've seen to date. Can't see anything that was missed and love some the custom elements (i.e., pullup bar), especially the shower! Kudos on that one! The only things that weren't completely visible were those handles on the back. If they aren't reinforced, they might break over time or if someone larger were to pull on them. Otherwise, that's about it. Looking forward to the periodic updates on how all the equipment is functioning, especially the air conditioner and battery system. Safe travels!

Great job by them, but also by you making sure they got all your touches. The compressors, the lights, the winch, the indoor shower, the kit to charge onboard with alternator, good amount of solar and batteries. Honestly thought of everything and in the 144 making it maneuverable. Love the color too

This is the ultimate Van ! I was so glad you pretty much have a full bathroom on board, toilet and shower were huge ! Now you don’t have to do those truck stop showers.
After that Prius, you and camper must feel like you’re living in a mansion. And you still get to wherever you want. Enjoy all your adventures in your new rolling mansion !

I love new custom built Class B RV tours, and this was a good one. The highlights are the Victron system, and that "no extra space" shower was the star! For those complaining about no bathroom, a cassette toilet is actually a great option, the are very convenient.

14:44 finally someone has done it.👏👏 i've been watching van life videos for two weeks now and theorized the best shower is somethign close to the kitchen sink and a van door. the curtains though, too light and flimsy. I have an idea how to make the curtains better but saving it for myself until i monetize van life.😅 free tip: the fix induction stove is still a bad idea, not only has higher risk for breakage, you will not able to utilize the stove for cooking outdoors.

What an incredible use of space and an actually practical layout for full-time living. The shower setup is perfect for occasional use when you just can't get to a gym or truck stop shower, and honestly, an "emergency only" toilet is probably a good thing. Who wants to drop a deuce where they cook & eat on the regular? LOL I know some will disagree, and are willing to give up valuable real estate for a permanent shower/toilet room, but you clearly put a lot of thought into the design to meet YOUR needs and travel style. Very well done!
