We are famous for it! No matter how early we set the alarm we never seem to leave before 11am! Rich is Self employed and also books his first jobs from 11am! bugt we are happy to ride until Late too so it sort of works out! We are too casual for our own good!
I too had a pair of Forma adventure boots and they leaked as well. Superbike store swapped them for another pair and it happened to me again. I ended up changing them for Sidi Aria boots and touch wood, they’ve been perfect at keeping out the water. As you say, no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear. Of all the bike gear available,I’ve yet to find a pair of totally waterproof gloves, that’d be the holy grail!
Yes ewa has Sidi boots that seem to be holding up much better. Like you we have not found totally waterproof gloves, we always have two or three pairs with us so we can change them throughout the day if needed. The RST paragon gloves are the best we have had so far and heated by battery
Hey Rinkydink! thanks for joining us again. I promise you, those last couple hours were miserable, all our batteries had died and for some reason i think because we were avoiding tolls, we were on a never ending main road with no lights or cats eyes and no service stations, just pull offs for lorrys to park for the night. we had to call it a day when we were shivering and wet through but we hate to quit

The home, of Black Forest Gummy Bears.... what I like about where you live is, you can get into another country, easily, for me I have two boards, (One I'll never cross) Mexico, But, The Canadian Board is 1467 miles to the north of me. (on back roads) as I refuse to drive on the highways here. Nor, pay tolls.

Tip put Plastic Carrier bags in your boots & with your sealskin socks dry as a bone . Did a tour of Southern ireland & it was wet in buckets at times .Had scott pro wet gear over my jacket & the leggings bone dry. But everyone has the fav's

Some days are harder than others! but we love to do it just the same! Us bikers are a special kind of crazy! Time was against us on this tour, youll see on our other Tours on the channel, we much prefer the slow scenic routes and rarely do motorway if we can help it. How do you find the seat on your Africa Twin?
@@ontheroadadventure I like the seat , even it is a little hard. But i think you have to get use to it. (I almost made a joke, about how i find the seat...it is on my bike..but i can understand that you're not in for a joke after such weather) I hope you have more time on your next trip.
haha thats the sort of thing id say too! We often get in trouble for our sense of humour! I have found mine hard for long distance, i will look for some sort of cushion or cover i think. Also we will be looking for a tubeless solution too after the tunnel situation@@StephanCRF1100
@@ontheroadadventure That was really a disaster at the tunnel with the flat tire. I hope it is a ones in a lifetime experiance for you. I have seen on the i-net some solutions about tubeless rims. Or making them tubeless, but it is not reliable. Only option is to buy the adventure type rims. Unfortunaly.

@@ontheroadadventure most counties of the UK have their best biker roads, but Yorkshire has the scenery to go with it, once you get out of the major cities. But, yeah the downside is the weather, especially this time of year. If it's not the storms, it's the leaves falling off the trees and rotting away making the roads greasy. Then when the temperature drops, the gritters come out and spread salt everywhere, which caused me corrosion in the past, so I've stopped riding in winter these days....so of... maybe 😁
@@AManAstray I can’t bare to be apart from my bike for more than a few days, Every winter I promise myself I won’t be here for the next one and il be riding somewhere sunny! Last Jan we flew to Sicily and hired bikes, you may of seen that tour on here? That was a great winter plan
Germany looked great and that rain looked absolutely delightful! Many many years ago I drove from Ebern in Bavaria all the way home to W-s-M non stop, as one of the guys in the car had a case of food poisoning (hardly cooked bbq pork!). I was probably on the same roads as you and know exactly what you mean about services, we just hit the truck stops every couple of hours, fuelled up, I grabbed a coffee (which was excellent, from a machine for €1.50) and we smashed the miles back to Calais.
Fair play mate its a long old slog! We made the mistake of stopping in one of those truck stops once for a pee stop and was scarred for life lol, so we cracked on lol
@ontheroadadventure I'm down in South Wales & ride a kawasaki ninja sx. Love watching adventures and picking up some ideas. My wife passed her test in January and we have already covered 1200 miles in spain a few months ago. My wife rides a honda nc750. nothing better than a bike trip👌🏼 keep up the great work👍🏼
Peter, We are made up for you! Ewa booked her test after we started dating having been on the back a couple times and loved it. 4 weeks after her test she followed me to the alps to Stelvio. You will have amazing times together on the bikes. Your lucky to be in wales, one of our favourite places to ride and have quite a few videos there now@@peterregan6088

Hi, Yes our gear let us down on this trip for Sure, We will look into this brand as we have not heard of it. Ideally we want something that can go on over the adventure boots without removing them in the rain
Cheers from Norway. For us it is difficult to travel in the eurozone and the uk at the moment due to the relative strength(or weakness?) of our currency. As you say, it used to be a cheap way to travel but not anymore. All the best and have a safe journey home.

Yes I suppose we cannot complain as we have a lot of nature and a reputation for being rich. However the common man may struggle here also. Anyway, at least we're not in Ukraine or Palestine. Check out some of our earlier videos youll see the highlights of the uk and Devon and Cornwall where we are down south. Sadly the cost of living has hit normal working people like us hard here too. We will cut back on most things but not our riding. I had a CRF250l, one of the most fun bikes i owned, it would go anywhere! Next year we do plan to tell people in advance where we are touring, we would love to meet like minded people on our travels@@runeburdahl7141

The boat was a Falmouth cutter or working boat that I built myself. If you come here we must meet for sure. I Rode the Thruxton RS Chrome Edition on a Demo day, Review is on the channel if your interested. Now i love bikes like this, the look and style..... However, they are just not suited to doing distance in comfort. The Africa Twin is a perfect Touring machine and with the honda reliability... so far we are in love with ours
If Pennies allow get a used Africa Twin as well as your Thruxton, the Africa twins are known for reliability, the 2017 models are before all the TFT tech and are now very affordable and every bit as good@@baileykingtv1562
Yea there’s lots to see we do a few rallies each year which are good fun and a challenge one of them not far from you guys it’s called the South West Peninsular Road Rally and that’s always a full day out it’s just like a treasure hunt I’m sure you two would enjoy it. Firstly you got to have a good tent,wild country by terra nova is my choice,I dried out my boots by tying then to a picnic bench upside down with my trangia under them, cheap £15 waterproofs over my bike clothes kept most of me dry,hand dryers in toilets,but I will be honest in saying that when I got home from 9 days up there I swore I would never Moto camp again in July I was again on the north cornWall coast widemouth. Attracting lots of attention by my culinary skills. I’m 55 & just got myself a Bmw r1200rs for yep more touring.
So we have a Camping Dilema..... Two of us, and our kit in a small tent seems like a bad idea? Our thinking was we needed one big enough to stand up in and room to move. The downside is its bloody massive and 10kg on the pilly seat... We are thinking to buy a small tent and try it. We are also now looking into cooking kit, we need a stove and some flat plates etc, looking at sea to summit stuff? is there some sort of heater safe for in the tent?@@neilwilliams9844
@@ontheroadadventure most of my gear is back packing gear,they tend to be very compact & light weight,as mentioned I cook on the trangia excellent bit of kit. Good sleeping bags are a must I have 4 ex British army systems which are excellent too. And a £15 pound multi mat to sleep on, the best I’ve had. The sleeping bags are4 different ones for different conditions.
I share your pain riding long distance in rain, and I think the worst roads to ride in rain are Belgium motorways! they seem to hold a lot of water so the spray is worst than the actual rain. am enjoying travelling with you both from the comfort of my armchair.
Hi, Yes we did carry Chain cleaner and lube. I checked the chains when we discovered ewas oil was low. They didnt need adjusting but i did have the tools to do so. Luckily that Africa twins have centre stands to make life easy
B500 is not very good it's over rated with mega slow limits. But if you turn off the b500 there are some excellent roads around through the forest. Great video guys
You are not wrong, I got Flashed in this area last year in a small town. The Speed cameras are everywhere around here. Where would you suggest to ride in Germany? We really like Germany and were thinking to head here again in 2024

If you go back to Italy the col de sommelier and jafferau, col du parpillion, assietta.are all great off road tracks no too hard . You will be higher than any tarmac roads . . Born in Hampshire, my Dad was a Londoner and my Mum was Belgian. They decided to emigrate to South Africa when I was a kid. But I’ve traveled to family in both countries, regularly over the years. I consider myself a Brit Belgian Saffa…culturally enriched! 🤷♂️🙈😂🇬🇧🇿🇦🏍️👍

Hi, Yes our gear let us down on this trip for Sure, We will look into this brand as we have not heard of it. Ideally we want something that can go on over the adventure boots without removing them in the rain

Cheers from Norway. For us it is difficult to travel in the eurozone and the uk at the moment due to the relative strength(or weakness?) of our currency. As you say, it used to be a cheap way to travel but not anymore. All the best and have a safe journey home.

@@ontheroadadventure Hi! I would love to see the UK on a motorcycle. I have sailed around Great Britain once. And I love fish and chips:). Yes I suppose we cannot complain as we have a lot of nature and a reputation for being rich. However the common man may struggle here also. Anyway, at least we're not in Ukraine or Palestine. Check out some of our earlier videos youll see the highlights of the uk and Devon and Cornwall where we are down south. Sadly the cost of living has hit normal working people like us hard here too. We will cut back on most things but not our riding. I had a CRF250l, one of the most fun bikes i owned, it would go anywhere! The boat was a Falmouth cutter or working boat that I built myself. If you come here we must meet for sure. For now the pound is 40% more than normal for us so we will will have to see when I get to travel to the UK again. Cheers

I Rode the Thruxton RS Chrome Edition on a Demo day, Review is on the channel if your interested. Now i love bikes like this, the look and style..... However, they are just not suited to doing distance in comfort. The Africa Twin is a perfect Touring machine and with the honda reliability... so far we are in love with ours
I absolutely adore mine but it’s not comfortable for anything more than one hour. Need something that does everything

If Pennies allow get a used Africa Twin as well as your Thruxton, the Africa twins are known for reliability, the 2017 models are before all the TFT tech and are now very affordable and every bit as good@@baileykingtv1562

Yea there’s lots to see we do a few rallies each year which are good fun and a challenge one of them not far from you guys it’s called the South West Peninsular Road Rally and that’s always a full day out it’s just like a treasure hunt I’m sure you two would enjoy it.

Yes it found it’s way there and took a ride for probably a good thousand miles lol Didn’t have the heart to throw it away, we became attached over the miles 😂
Great stuff,I feel for u getting cold& wet,reminds me of my Nc 500 trip in may,day 3 fort William to John o groats last 50 mile I was shivering on the bike, & my digs was my trustie 2 man tent,I lit my trangia,got in my army bag, & had an early night. Keep it up guys look forward to the next one.

Firstly you got to have a good tent,wild country by terra nova is my choice,I dried out my boots by tying then to a picnic bench upside down with my trangia under them, cheap £15 waterproofs over my bike clothes kept most of me dry,hand dryers in toilets,but I will be honest in saying that when I got home from 9 days up there I swore I would never Moto camp again in July I was again on the north cornWall coast widemouth. Attracting lots of attention by my culinary skills. I’m 55 & just got myself a Bmw r1200rs for yep more touring.
So we have a Camping Dilema..... Two of us, and our kit in a small tent seems like a bad idea? Our thinking was we needed one big enough to stand up in and room to move. The downside is its bloody massive and 10kg on the pilly seat... We are thinking to buy a small tent and try it. We are also now looking into cooking kit, we need a stove and some flat plates etc, looking at sea to summit stuff? is there some sort of heater safe for in the tent?@@neilwilliams9844
@@ontheroadadventure most of my gear is back packing gear,they tend to be very compact & light weight,as mentioned I cook on the trangia excellent bit of kit. Good sleeping bags are a must I have 4 ex British army systems which are excellent too. And a £15 pound multi mat to sleep on, the best I’ve had. The sleeping bags are4 different ones for different conditions.

I share your pain riding long distance in rain, and I think the worst roads to ride in rain are Belgium motorways! they seem to hold a lot of water so the spray is worst than the actual rain.

Hi, Yes we did carry Chain cleaner and lube. I checked the chains when we discovered ewas oil was low. They didnt need adjusting but i did have the tools to do so. Luckily that Africa twins have centre stands to make life easy
Do you recommend Black Forest ? I understand you been there before ?
Yes, Germany is a great place to tour on your motorcycle, Black forest is Beautiful but watch out for the speed cameras in all the towns

B500 is not very good it's over rated with mega slow limits. But if you turn off the b500 there are some excellent roads around through the forest. Great video guys
You are not wrong, I got Flashed in this area last year in a small town. The Speed cameras are everywhere around here. Where would you suggest to ride in Germany? We really like Germany and were thinking to head here again in 2024

If you go back to Italy the col de sommelier and jafferau, col du parpillion, assietta.are all great off road tracks no too hard . You will be higher than any tarmac roads . . I could send you a map marked up. Keep up the good work
