I love how COPPA gives these two an almost dystopian universe, they can’t say certain things and need to deflect, saying someone was removed for “unrelated performance issues” cannot express certain things, they have to keep their conversations easily understandable and mundane, it’s almost like animation with COPPA is an actual dystopian future

That part about "assuming custody of my [NOTHING]" really kinda hit hard for me. I seriously think that's a nuanced line - he says that as if it's *expected* of him to have some sort of thing to ask his trusted friend to look after should he lose his job, but the grim reality is that besides his job, what _does_ he have? It's clear his life has fully formed around being a just another "block" (hence the character designs) in the corporate world.

A dystopian world where the people above control what civilization does, say, or think and if they were to do anything that steps out of line, they would disappear and erased from history.
If Carl and Perry somehow goes down a similar route, I’d love to see them become aware of the situation and try to tear down the messed up society that they live in and was caused by the higher ups/COPPA and they become their own people and be who they wanna be. Heck, I’d love to see what the two would look like if they no longer had to “obey” COPPA’s standards.

Honestly, as much as I love Something About...
I'm way more appreciative and excited towards Carl and Perry. It's a really good way to help filter out the viewpoints and perspectives. You ever heard of the whole gimmick, where you flip a coin to help you pick between 2 choices, and while the coin is falling and is close to landing, in that moment right as it reaches the end, you figure out what you really wanted all along? Or rather as the coin falls, you find yourself realizing what you're secretly hoping it lands on? And how the coin lands is irrelevant because you're using the coin as a way to figure out how you feel?
Carl and Perry is sorta like that for me. As I have to fill in the blanks myself, it helps me become more clear of my leanings and gives me the opportunity to reassess if these feelings are one to be held or challenged. It's a good mental exercise and these videos help spur that along. I honestly hope for more of these over time rather than such strong focus on Something, but alas I know better lol.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, this is actually kind of terrifying in a way. The last video made me feel that way, and this video made me feel the same. The random instances of the world glitching, such as the car that randomly starts floating in the background at 1:31, and the appearance of color for a split second during the scene with the advertisement in the background, and not to mention the end credits scene. All in all, the world that Terminal Montage is creating actually feels like a proper horror/Dystopian setting, and I can't wait to see more. My new favorite series lol

His [NOTHING] is in reference to his pet. I’m episode one, Carl has a pet and censors it, calling it [NOTHING] instead. That’s the only thing that would make sense. Carl doesn’t want his pet to die if he can’t take care of it. Being loaded up with drugs to make himself happy and being scared that the one thing he remotely cherishes won’t make it without him. Carl’s nausea has even prevented him from eating (as seen in EP 2). I wouldn’t think it to be far-fetched if being terminated from your workplace would equate to certain death. I also wouldn’t be surprised if this is from Carl’s perspective, the world slowly deteriorating around him as his list of prescriptions grows and his psyche is whittling to its last bits due to workplace stress. The building with an eye might even indicate that Carl believes he’s being closely watched. He know what corporate did to the other guy. Now the only thing stopping them is him. He’s their next target.

TM has always been known for his hilarious comedic setup skills and animation style, but damn he's a master at setting moods and maintaining a tone throughout his videos. Everything agrees with itself thematically and it's a simple technique but it gives so much to the content.
Edit: the best example of this being that everything in this particular installment is made to be very rigid, flat, and mundane. Lack of color, everything being made up of sharp-edged polygons, even the music being a dead ambience with no other significance than it filling the silence. TTS voice generators, this is as plain as it gets. And that fact is what makes sequence breaks so much more impactful. I.e, the flash of color about 2 minutes into the video. Cool to think about.

It's really interesting how things slowly have started getting more bizarre and interesting in a world forced into dullness like this one! from the flash of color on the billboard, before quickly being overtaken by the dull blandness of advertisement, to the floating car that is still refusing to break from its ever-marching path, despite any physical thing to stop it from moving as it wishes. Finally, that giant all-seeing COPPA-eye on the skyscraper is both foreboding and could be wonderfully meaningful!
Imagine if Carl and Perry start showing emotion and care to the point that this eye fully notices them, and they have to push back to the point that they become truly unique, turning back into what they truly were (Carl returning to their existence as Kirbo, and Perry perhaps becoming someone new? maybe Luigi, considering how close the two are connected, as well as Perry's greater height compared to Carl.).
Maybe the two will remain as they are, yet still let themselves... be themselves. Nothing to truly hold them back, but not becoming someone else entirely. Carl would truly become unique and separate from the Kirbo they were made from, rather than a blanded down facsimile of a person they were forced into being.

I can’t explain it; I’m captivated by this video. You’ve always made awesome content, but this is the one singular video you made that I’ve had to rewatch immediately after seeing it the first time, and then rewatched again to see if the magic was still there. I think it’s the blanks you left that drew me back, as the first time you watch it, you’re just observing the conversation of two people talking about work stress and problems while remaining very vague about all the details that mattered, but after watching it again, I just replaced those blanks with things that would apply to me personally, and as the conversation went on, it became more surreal and dreadful, as it indicates that this is the road that ALL of us are going down. That this is a conversation that is going to happen, if it hasn’t happened already. The line where Carl mentions his superior, where it’s a distorted sound effect rather than a blank hit me especially, because I’ve had bosses that I never wanted to think about during and outside of work, and that even their name was enough to instill dread for me. It’s so apparently dark while still holding on to the comedy of two shapes talking about apparently nothing.

I’m invested in this world now. The friendship between Carl and Perry, the eye that watches from above. I want to know MORE!
But seriously though, this is really cool what you’ve done with your rectangles that weren’t even supposed to be characters who are now in an interesting dystopia with their own problems.

idk what it is, but something about this video... It's simultaneously soothing and comforting, and eerie and creepy. Like it hits a weird gap, in more ways then one, it's indescribable, and almost unreal. And though this is just an animation, consisting of very basic ideas, shapes, and speech, it feels like anything but that. Bro this thing gives me chills in ways i didn't think were possible, like a glitch in the matrix, a broken piece of reality, almost as if I have ascended in some way.
Bro idk what I'm even on about, but I find this series of pictures and sounds to be enjoyable, please continue to produce, as I would like to experience more.

I just realized when Carl asked if Perry would take care of his [Nothing], it's censored like that because he did have a pet in the first episode, but because COPPA didn't allow conversation over pets, it disappeared and he referred to it as nothing.
