This animation really points out the fact that Pokémon only evolve in dire situations regardless of age, that’s why you have really old Pokémon who never evolve simply because they never needed to
Or unless they really really want to. Which it makes sense that that is an uncommon thing to occur because most people (and I'm assuming this would go for Pokemon too) wouldn't want to lose their sense of self and become someone else.

@@kizzy2888 I was talking about an actual fire, where the fire is still technically burning, just not visible to the eye. Some campfires I didn’t put out properly went back to burning after a couple minutes even after dumping a bucket of water onto it

@@1nfinitune533 I'm going only off of memory, but I think that was an episode in the Orange Island arc when he had Squirtle attack a trainer's Gloom with water gun and Misty yelled at him for doing that since he was essentially "watering a plant." I believe it was the episode when Snorlax's Poké Ball broke, but as I said, it's all memory from watching the first two seasons over and over again as a kid.

I like how it incorporates the fact that Charmander’s Pokédex entry taken at face value (flame goes out, Charmander dies) makes no sense, but taken with one grain of salt (flame is heart monitor, goes out if Charmander dies) makes more sense.

My interpretation is that the flame is part of its respiratory system: if its flame goes out _for too long_ it suffocates and dies.
It is his lifeforce so It literally sugests that is tied with charmander's strengh of soul but in the definition of lifeforce It fits more with "the force or influence that gives something its vitality or strength" so It going away means DEATH It wont recover It means charmanders body is so weak It cant function so It is dead and no rain is not enough to kill It It just makes lots of steam so in the anime rain killing charmander is bs or because It is too weak
