The 666 Anthem

- I extended my stay in Iowa to check out the runner-up of the poll, The Heretic Anthem. As explained @1:42, you'll be hearing the live version of the song in this video, but I was hearing the album version when I made this. For some reason, a band that is very much NOT SLIPKNOT was claiming the rights to this song, so I swapped it for the live version instead. Weird.
**This was accidentally posted Saturday night because I'm a moron. Hope some of you enjoyed the early access! :D
I can't put this off any longer. This needs some tweaking, I think, but time for the Top 15:
1) Snuff the Magic Corey (if this is ever missing from this spot, assume someone has hacked into my RUclips channel bc that's the only way it would not be here.)
2) Nero Freaking Forte (same for this one!)
3) Vermilion Pt. Obsession
4) Sympathy for the Devil in I
5) Not Long For This World
6) Colin Firth is Pissed
7) Malice!
8) Little Orphan Annie Taylor
9) Vermilion Pt. OG
10) You Can't Always Get Unsainted
11) The 666 Anthem
12) The Drum Solo Exists
13) Fire + Caffeine + Nicotine = -1
14) The Collector
15) Dual Eye Pushing

Happy Maggot Monday! The video is officially posted now. :) Thanks for watching.
The sound of broken glass at the end is Corey throwing something out of anger after recording the song. And the echo of someone's voice is the producer trying to calm him down
Yes Jim and Mick are usually panned to one side. I think if I remember correctly that Jim is on the left and Mick is on the right, except for the Iowa album I’m pretty sure they are switched around.
yeah it's like where they stand on the stage, except on iowa it's the other way
You should find a way to notify slipknot's management team that someone else is copyright striking their songs... that isn't ok. It isn't their song.
555 is the california area code. They are talking against the entertainment elite in this song and effectively saying 'if you are an entertainment god, i am the opposite of you.'
I thought it was a fluke, so I uploaded it again. Same thing. Best part is, I disputed the claim, mentioning it's not even their song and they rejected it. It's some band called Carnifex. If you go to other reactions for this song and scroll through the description box, THIS BAND is listed. So they're definitely cashing in. True, they did a cover of this song, BUT THIS AINT IT. :)
@@MusicCatsandCoffee i would hazard a strong guess that slipknots representatives would not be happy if they learned about that. Sounds like theft to me.
There's no 555 area code in California, hell even in the whole USA, it's a fictional number that Hollywood industry used in movies
@@Qliphirot as a non californian, that would explain my confusion lol, i always thought it was the real area code
When I started watching your channel, I never thought I'd see a song like this get into the top ten. You've come a long way young lady. This is one of my faves out of all their songs. Live in London 2002 is a brilliant version and there's a brilliant drumcam video from that gig as well. Nice tribute to Sir Joey of Jordison one Monday. Epic song, good reaction. Cheers m'dear. And I normally listen for the bass in a song but with these it's the drums and guitars first but there's so much going on that I just crank up the volume and pick the bits out later. Oh and Left Behind is a stonker off this album. Cracking song and a possible video reaction of the future. Enough rambling.....ta ra for now.
It didn't quite make it. Ha! It's number 11 right now. :) I definitely prefer the album version to the one I used here. Thanks for being an awesome Mega-Maggot! :)
@@MusicCatsandCoffee have you recently reminded us of your current top ten? Or has it not changed recently?
I was fortunate to see them in 2001? When then we’re doing a smaller club tour in the Northeast. I saw them at a club called Lupos in Providence RI. Maybe 250-300 ppl there and it was life changing. They played most of the Iowa album. I’ve seen them many more times since then, but that gig was easily the most energy coming off the stage I’ve ever witnessed. Thanks for this one🤘
Two drumming highlights, in regards and with respect to Joey's tragic passing...
1) During the "Everybody defamates from miles away but face to face, they haven't got a thing to say" - he admitted in an interview that he deliberately modified the beat of the snare to match the cadence of Corey's word delivery - because he liked how it landed so much. Usually when he started writing/composing a song, he pretty much knows how the drums will sound like, but this was an improvised exception
2) That double bass drum fill right after the 2nd chorus - that's a straight tribute to Slayer's "Angel of Death", one of Dave Lombardo's iconic moments (right down to the tom beat back into the guitar riff)
1) That's my favorite part of the song for sure, and one of my favorite Slipknot moments, actually. Love that.
I’m a guitarist but Joey and Jay on drums always stand out for me in every song
I'm a bass player so when I listen almost any song for the first time I pay special attention to the bass and drums.
Before the video even starts, this is kind of a perfect song to listen to in honor of Joey.
RIP. :*(
So funny that you mentioned HIM. I went through a HIM phase as well. But, I've been a maggot longer. This is in my top 5 Slipknot songs, and is great live, and has some of the best "maggot moments" in the live shows. Been loving your reaction videos, and stoked you are loving discovering all that Slipknot has to offer. Keep up the great work, and look forward to your next reaction video!
Mine was pretty much a HIM obsession. Good times though. This song would definitely be awesome to see live. Thanks for watching! :)
“32nds, 16’s, 8th’s, 4ths, I havent the slightest….” He is talking about notes. 32nd notes, 16th notes, 8th notes, and quarter notes (4ths)…. Talking about how the press always would ask things like “how fast does joey play the bass drum” “which track has fastest bass drum part?”…these questions were always getting asked of them before the writing and during the writing of this album. Just a sly line that fits haha
Metabolic, Only one and No Life… my favorites
Pls consider reacting to Gently, it off the iowa album and it is so aggressive!
If your 555, them I'm 666...WHAT'S IT LIKE TO BE A HERETIC!!! There is a great Joey cam of this! RIP JOEY 🤘🤘🤘
You're sure taking to Iowa way more than in your initial Disasterpiece experience. This was the song they sent out as the first single from Iowa, it's obviously just a big "F off." Definitely, definitely, definitely watch the clip of them playing it on Conan O'Brien. It's a freaking killer performance and I believe it was the night Max Weinberg introduced his kid Jay to Slipknot.
To answer the question, what I notice/like the most about slipknot songs are the way the rhythm of the guitars and the rhythm of the drums blend and mix together.
I'm really glad that you enjoyed this track! It's a staple at live shows and is one of my favorites to experience. Honestly, if you've finished your reaction to the "Iowa" track, then you've pretty much finished all of the tracks that I think you would consider scary. There are a lot of great tracks left to explore. I think you'll really like "My Plague", which you heard partially live on the "funniest Slipknot" video.
I've had My Plague in my head for days, but only the part in the video since that's all I know. So like 10 seconds or something? lol
@@MusicCatsandCoffee HA! That sounds about right. The chorus is catchy... Like a plague.
The fact that this video originally got copyright claimed by a cover band when it wasn’t even their audio is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard
Yeah, it wouldn't have made much difference with my video, but the top 2 reaction videos for this song are Pastor Rob and Alex Hefner with like 150k views and if you look in the description box, it's saying the song is by Carnifex. It's just an automated system that catches the song you use when you upload a video, so that's fine and nothing the reactors did wrong. But I happened to catch it and disputed it. And Carnifex kept the claim anyway. It's like, dude, that's not yours. lol
It’s probably gotta be the guitar parts (both Jim and Mick) for me because (I think I’ve said this in another video) I’ve always wanted to play guitar but having Cerebral Palsy make my left hand not function very well makes that basically impossible.
I listen to drums and guitars first for most songs. Ross splits KoRn's guitars into separate headphones as well.
Skin Ticket, Eeyore, GET THIS OR DIE, and Everything Ends
If I am not wrong This concert must be from 2003 to 2004 cause you can hear Corey's is weird a few times. As during that time he blew out his voice due to intense screaming in the iowa era.
A lot of times there are “maggot moments”, it’s usually clown and chris doing the screams, like in this song. Also they performed this song on the Conan O’ Brien show in 2001 and the stage was so small they were all squashed on there and clown and Chris didn’t have their big drum sets so they were just standing there head banging with mics.
it's always the beat that gets me if it be the drums or guitar at the start of a song like Skin ticket which has my favorite opening beat from slipknot Every time that song comes on i can't help but slam my fist on something in rhyme with the beat which is the drum opening i have hurt my fist a few times because of this LOL i can't help it that drumbeat is so damn infectious
Maggot Moments are the best!
Don't know if anybody has mentioned this but this is about their record company who were hoping for a more radio friendly follow up to their debut album. They got this instead.lol
Personally I listen to the guitars cause I play guitar. But you really can't miss out on the rest of the band.
Seems like my prediction of you loving IOWA is coming true lol, cause what's this like the 3rd song you like off Iowa? 😂 Honestly the Heretic anthem is one of the heaviest songs on IOWA so if you're good with this, you're gonna do great on the rest of the album. I just can't wait for you to hear the 15 minute atmospheric masterpiece that is the song IOWA.
I'd like to request left behind, an awesome song from them
huh because i already got the notification when u posted it on Sunday it didn't give a notification again on Tuesday
hmm ok youtube
The drums really stand out to me alot, also all the guitars, I like to listen to slipknot and listen to all the elements of the song, but drums and guitar stands out the most to me, in certain songs, bass guitar stands out to me the most
This song was made to the music industry after they told the band to make “radio friendly” songs
I mostly listen to the guitars and drums, YES maggot moments are a real thing and Corey LOVES it when the he can hear the crowd. At a Stone Sour show (in a super small venue) during Bother half of the crowd sang lead and half sang backup without prompting and he just nerded out like it was the first time he’s heard someone else sing his lyrics!
An easy get-around to the top 10 would be the concert set list. Lol ok I’ll shut up about that.
Keyboard warriors suck, and quit apologizing for pausing and reacting. This is a reaction channel, I’m here for your reactions.
I feel like you’ll like All Out Life for similar reasons.
That song you didn’t know from one of your recent Slipknot moment videos was Circle of Vol. 3, lots of “talking Corey” in that as well as Spiders.
i always listen for the KEG
:D
It's kind of hard to whisper during a live show because of it coming through the speakers it will sound like he's regular talking
I seriously have to recommend Gematria. If nothing less because I don't think any song commemorates Joey's insanity like the speed and transitions in Gematria. It is in my opinion a technical and lyrical masterpiece from the whole band.
You wanna know what "30 seconds, 16, 8, 4" is about..? I haven't the slightest. ;p - Sounds like a countdown to me.. But i think the most interesting lyric in the song is "If ..."
My favorite slipknot sound is angry Corey
Technical term for that "maggot moment" you're referencing are "gang vocals." Like, a gang of people singing at once. Popular with hardcore and hardcore punk bands in particular.
Hold on, I'm pissed. What band filed a copyright claim on a song that isn't theirs? I mean, I'm sure it was their POS label that did, but still. That pisses me off.
Tough question but its just depends on the song I hear, sometimes it's the drumming sometimes guitars etc. I cant pick 1 major sound cuz I love all the sounds that they put in thier music
Has anyone else spotted the paradox? Lauren used to be into HIM, but now Corey's on the scene she's into HIM instead!
I may just be overthinking this tho......🤔🤯🤘🏻🤘🏻
Edit: its gotta be the keg Lauren, the sound hits you like a high five to the face!
You know Ville for the band HIM doesn’t like slipknot? Lol I was also obsessed with HIM and one day I decided to watch an interview for Ville for the first time ever and the interviewer asked Ville something like “ what do you think of bands like slipknot “ and he replied : what’s strange is before they try to learn how to play instruments they prefer to learn how to put make up and are afraid to show their faces they want to wear like “ silly masks or whatever “ it’s ironic because Jim root and Mick thomson were named best metal guitarist in 2019 lol and i was surprised because that was the first interview I saw of him, oh hell nah I became so uninterested in HIM ever since lol. And for your question I usually focus on the “ layering “ as james calls it it’s so interesting to me to listen to Craig’s little touches on the songs
I probably heard that at some point. But it's gonna have to take more than that to make me dislike Ville Valo. lol Haven't listened to him in a loooong time but they were everything. :D
Pornoholic and suicide parties are real things like the cult who drank poisoned Kool aid together and died.
This is 100% a top 5 song 🤘🤘
I try to listen to Chris feins drumming and clowns drumming and tortulaman's drumming
Lol not sure why Carnifex thought it was ok to strike your channel- they’re a deathcore band if you didn’t know- but I agree with everyone else they don’t own the rights to the song. Sorry you had to deal with that Lauren :/
All of my vids get a copyright claim, so I"m used to that. I don't mind when Slipknot does it but I wasn't about to give some other band credit for this. lol
There’s a Joey drum cam on Heretic Anthem in London 2002… Just sayin 😜
Good idea. :)
We Need The Devil In I, Before I Forget, Critical Darling and Spiders
Song reactions for Critical Darling and Spiders, yes eventually. But the other 2, I've already heard. Devil in I music video will be coming next month sometime though. :)
And if rain is what you want
How did someone who did a cover get copyright on the original song??
Already? Nice :D
For a few minutes, yes. :D
@@MusicCatsandCoffee It was enough for me to watch on sunday :D
Can't help it i see your notification i click it.
nice we at 133 likes! btw that's craig's (pinhead) nickname bc of his sampler
good to know that you listened to the album version because this live version sounds awful wtf
I liked the part when slipknot played music 🎶
What version of that song is this???? It made me laugh bro😂😂
Bro, listen @1:42 or read the video description. :)
@@MusicCatsandCoffee aww man i feel bad for laughing but this doesen't sound anything like the real heretic anthem 😂
It's definitely not as good as the original version. :(
"It's not about HIM anymore.....it's about ME" Steve-o and BAM on jackass number two (not a fan of jackass obviously....my username lmao) I use to be into HIM in my mid teens. I'm 31 now
Jackass is such a guilty pleasure of mine. :D
@@MusicCatsandCoffee I'm really excited for jackass forever. Sadly no BAM though
"If man is 5 then the devil is 6" its a biblical reference
what passage?
Corey got the rona recently and im going to see them with mudvayne and rob zombie. I hope slipknot can make it.
:(
Also the song got blocked cause A COVER BAND flagged this????
Ha this would make sense for the song itself LOL. The song is about how the music industry is shitty in so many words lol
Not blocked, just a copyright claim, which I get with every video I post. It's fine when it's from the actual band, but this wasn't cool. lol
Tool army has left the group
1) This is Maggot Monday, not Maynard Monday.
2) Jambi will be posted tomorrow.
:)
@@MusicCatsandCoffee 😁😁👌
@@eyal4463 the tool army won't be missed 😇😅
