The 2nd half is actually what I enjoy most, because of Corey just letting it all out and pretty much blowing his voice out. I love the anger/agony in his voice. It's so legitimate and vilifying/cathartic.

I've read a comment saying that this was the first song which they recorded for the iowa album, and it sort of led them into making the rest of the album just as heavy.
If you love The Heretic Anthem as much as me (and I think you do) then you've got to watch the Joey drumcam from the Disasterpieces dvd. Be perfect for a random Slipknot reaction. It is epic. In fact Heretic Anthem, Disasterpiece and People=Shit are all worth a look. Joey at his best.
I love all the improvisions corey does...i always love those corey moments of agony...i relate....i kind of thought you would come around to those moments but its all good 👍
I think on the Iowa album the closest song to this one in vibe and atmosphere is probably Gently. Not sure if you reacted to that song yet. Also, New Abortion is underrated but the best version of that song is actually the live version from the Disasterpieces dvd.

You should really look up “Corey Taylor therapy” and watch that. It’s not too long of a video but it gives you insight into his past and really helps you relate to him better, and therefore relate to the emotion and pain in the music more
