I never thought I'd like Mr. COLLINS. But getting to know the real Dennis through these videos has changed my mind. I have so much respect for him now. I suffer with depression and watching Mr Collins really helps me. His enthusiasm for cars is amazing. I love cars to, especially American cars. Thank you Mr. COLLINS, you really help me. Cheers, Dave.
I love the 73 but I am biased, I own one and have for over 30 years. I hate to be 'that guy' but I want to point out that there is no such thing as a Convertible Mach 1. Mach 1 had its own body code, even separate from the 'fastback'. The hood is often referred to as a Mach 1 hood but it was known as a NASA hood when they were being produced. The hood could be ordered on most of the models. I put one on my convertible and I really like the look, I also did the front spoiler. I am not trying to discourage anyone from putting the Mach 1 stripes and such on the car, I think they look great. Thanks for the video!
I just purchased a 1966 GT coupe 4 speed from a one owner family in original condition. It’s been a great car, a ton of fun getting it back on the road, and starts a-lot of conversations. I don’t think you can have more fun for the money.
I bought my 1st car at 12yrs old by mowing my neighbors yard. It was a 76 2dr Chevy Chevette 4cyl 4spd. Before I got my license, my dad told my little brother to pull the pick up over and jump start my car so I could mow the barn lot. Well... After he got it started he went to back up & had his wheels turned and hit the car. It spooked him so bad he nailed the gas instead of the break and it drove up the fender, A-arm & back down the B-piller area of the driver's side. Needless to say,I never got to drive it to school,it was totaled but I sure put a lot of miles on it out in the feilds doing typical things boys do at that age,donuts.... So I wound up buying a 73 Olds Delta 88 2dr (friends called it "the land ark" cus I could fit so many in it on cruise night)
Thanks Dennis for all you do for the car World. Rescuing all the old car’s without you and your team they would be lost forever. Again thanks for all the awesome content y’all make. It’s good clean videos.
Back in '78, my new wife and I traded her yellow 65 Mustang Coupe, 200 "Sprint 6," Automatic in on a 72 Mustang Convertible, 351HO, 4 speed, Posi rear, AM/8-track, power top and power brakes. Grabber Blue (I think that was the Ford name of the color) with a white top. It had a white and black interior with houndstooth pattern fabric and white vinyl seats. We traded her 65 Mustang Coupe 200 "Sprint 6" Automatic.
_My first two cars as a sixteen year old kid were an early '65 coupe(late 1964) in the 200 C.I., and a '65 convertible in a 289 Hi Performance 275 HP(also in the same color blue as this car Dennis). What a find on the '73 convertible too! (I also owned a '71 Mach 1, then a '73 Grande). By the time I turned nineteen, I discovered Corvettes(initially owing a '74 t-top, then a '75 convertible), yet somewhere in the mix I never owned a '71 to '73 convertible. Whoever buys your 1973 convertible will be one lucky person. (I mean the car has so much potential, especially since it hasn't been on the road since 2002). Great channel, and always the very best finds._
Well done and excellent advice. Dennis is making the car hobby accessible to everyone with this video. You don’t need six figures or even high five figures to get a cool car.
Got my 71’ Mustang with a 351W Vin number is showing that it was built at the Ford plant in Mexico, very cool car with a lot of history. Cool to see people still having interest in the last great big mustangs.
What I like about those old Ford Mustangs is the smell when you get in that just the Classic smell makes you want to drive the car. Thanks for showing these cars.
I bought a 1971 convertible Mustang for $400 back in the late 70's, best car I ever owned. Like a lot of us, wish I never sold it. Great video clip on RUclips of James Bond in Mustang in Las Vegas.
Another cool video. My first car was in 1973. I bought an old eight-year-old car, which happened to be a ‘65 coupe with the 289 high-performance, for $500. It had close to 80,000 miles on it. I put another hundred thousand on it and sold it for $500 around 1978. It was such a solid car with just minimal maintenance. Thanks for rekindling those memories.
That Scrambler is looking good. I can't wait to see it once it's fully done. Those Mustangs are nice project cars. Lots of potential. I would bring the convertible back to new condition and keep it original.
A sad day for Mustang enthusiasts, the two magazines dedicated to Mustangs, have been deleted, "Muscle Mustang's and Fast Fords" and "Mustang Monthly" RIP......gone but NOT forgotten!
mike stang My feelings exactly. The powers that be at motor trend SUCK. To kill of 19 magazines right before the holidays really takes some kind of a-hole.
@@TommyRibs you answered your own question, used to read/back in the day.....this is why magazines are gone, everyone used to/back in the day, now ya'll (including me) are watching videos. no money in the mags
Watching from the UK, hate to see cars with important history and rarity, recommended to be "pimped". Seems the fashion in the US but an absolute No No in the UK and Europe, (apart from safety upgrade stuff). Originality is King. Love the channel, and impressed with Dennis's knowledge of the Brit stuff.
"pimped" ? what cars or vehicles have they recommended be pimped ? maybe a few but NOT ALL. Dennis loves originality, plus he also likes to resto mod them. you do what sells and what you like when you are going to add them to your collections !
On that 73, the only changes I would make are: Put a New Manifold and a 4-Barrel carb on the 351. In ‘73 the compression was low and even the mighty 351 was detuned and low on power. A manifold and Good Carb would help a little bit and wake it up somewhat. I would address the rust issues, and since that is a rare color, I would repaint it. Full brake job, and that’s it. No spoilers, no stripes, and probably not even a Mach1 hood.
Morning Dennis, I'm new to your channel, you are a wealth of knowledge in the vintage muscle car market...I know you from Richard Rawlins, Gas Monkey Garage....don't really want to say anything bad about him....anyway I'm a early mustang guy...we have had our 65 fastback for 30 years, it has progressed to a full chassis drag car, wish I wouldn't have done that...but to late now....be safe!! God Bless!!!!
Dennis the 200 hp car has the potential of being a sleeper. Rebored to a 240 with pop up pistons and ground head and polished. Replaced carburetor to a holly eight fifty. Replacing the single third member with a positive rear end. A friend of mine and I did his mercury six cylinder 200 hp. Unbelievable how much you surprise the big blocks stock factory cars. SEMPER FIDELIS
I bought a 65' in 1972 for $650.00, my first car. Dark blue with a white interior ,289 three speed. 55,000 miles .Wasn't very good in the snow in Indiana because the rear was so light. I aways kept an eighty pound bundle of shingles in the trunk for traction.
Your washable mug, excellent, that is more ecologic than the paper ones! I like this channel, in the future I will love to get one of those CJs, I learn to drive on a CJ here in Costa Rica!
for washing underneath try Original dunk engine cleaner (Not citrus) and diesel 50/50, that way the diesel works on the oil and grease and when hit with water, the dunk washes it all off.. no residue
Great video! I used this same info to by my first classic, a '65 Mustang almost exactly as the '66 shown...including the hubcaps! 20' paint job, but I did all the right things to make her a very strong runner! Had a good time at a bunch of Montana car shows with her! I found my '70 Cougar and sold it to my neighbor on the block and he had a good time with it! He had the 5 lug disc/4 wheel disc upgrade done, I put in new seats in the proper style/color. Now he found his '66 (Nice Mustang) and the '65 is up for sale. I always liked/still like that '65! Thanks for sharing Dennis!
My first car was a 67 mustang base model ,green , 289 V8 ,it looked almost exactly the same as that 66 wish I still had it .maybe I’ll get another one let me know if you find one. As always Dennis love to listen to you learn a ton ,you have a fan club in Vietnam!
My first new car was a black1965 mustang coupe, 289 3 speed limited slip rear axle. It had red interior which doesn't show as an option. Wish I had it back.
Dennis just a little clarification would be when you said you owed a 48 F100 , the F1 are badged trucks ( 1948-1952 ) they are designated F1-F2 F3- and so on , the 100 badged fenders started in 1953 ......did I catch the master of info....lol . I have had three base model mustangs over the years all 66 models and currently only have a 289 motor and four speed out of a 66 ..2+2 fast back that will go into a standard shift 66 base model build .
Dennis, I'm surprised that your coffee mug wasn't a 'tall' mug o' coffee and didn't have a 'safety lid'. It probably should come with a wrist band as you keep leaving it every where. Lol. Great find.
Awesome very nice car's, all you needed to do year's ago was just put nice mag wheels on and drive it but didn't really have much choice of wheels back then as you do now, sometimes had to do the shocks and lower springs, the 6 cylinder car is great to just changed to a V8 351 or 305 as their is plenty of thow's old motor's around and nice wheels 👍🏼👍🏾🤙🏼
That cool 1982 I was going to buy a 67 notched back mustang. $2,000 black inside and out, body straight body only. $2000 crome motor rebuild. My dad said no, I wish he said yes.
