I saw a factory supercharged gt 350 back in 90. It was in Illinois, roselle dealership show, red, the guy had a ton of paperwork backing it up, the setup looked exactly like the car in the video. I remember it very clearly because it was the first time I saw a supercharger mounted low like that (i had only seen roots style up top before), I was in my mid teens at the time. I have talked about that car before and I was mostly told it had to be a fake or something, thanks for the video, it lets me know I wasn't hallucinating the entire thing.

If a work order came up and someone went to put the paxton on , a quick glance at the only other lime gold cars number and 2293 could look like 2213 and it was the same color, so someone got 2213 without the paxton ,that is documented and perhaps 2293 owner got a surprise with his Hone-o-drive GT350??? .Also has anybody ever seen a 67 with a spoiler on the front like this one? • @ehsnils
      @ehsnils 7 дней назад +3

I think that the combination of the overdrive and supercharger is an indication that this could be a genuine car. Adding just a supercharger isn't that hard, but adding an overdrive gearbox is a bit more complicated since it has to fit both to the main gearbox and a shortened driveshaft. The rear axle gear ratio might also tell if this had the proper overdrive gearbox or if it was a later change, however that depends on if the rear axle gear ratio is different from the stock gear ratio. An overdrive can allow for a lower gear ratio at the rear axle for better acceleration and then the overdrive compensates for the lower gear ratio in the rear axle.
I did an overdrive gearbox change on a mid 60's Volvo once, and the gearbox interface was totally different from the standard interface there, so even though not the same brand the principle is the same and the headaches involved are similar.

If the list says, 2213 is suppose to have a super charger and it's also lime green........and the real car never had one.....and 2293 is lime green and has a super charger and isn't on the list.........It's got to be a typographical error. He never mentioned anything about any additional parts going with it or also being for sale, so I don't know for sure if there were any. Side note: the same seller also sold at a later date a really decent survivor original 1968 Cougar "S" Code. Came from Denver originally. We were told the cars were stored outside in a backyard in Phoenix with the hood up and windows down for around 20 years or so - hence the rough shape it's in (though thanks to dry Phoenix, it could have been much worse). It and the Cougar both had tons of leaves and debris throughout. They didn't really know any more than that. The auction house folks are very nice and run a great business, but they really didn't know what this car was and were surprised by the attention it got.

That why Shelby paid the warranty?

I bought a 93 cobra that had a Paxton SN92. Its the same as the SN60 that the Shelby's came with except some of the materials were changed to make it last a little longer. Its a very high maintenance unit. I had Craig Connoly at Paradise wheel rebuild mine. For what they are they make good power and spool up quick but they get so hot. Even with the Paxton oil cooler its still hot. Its a planetary drive that works off friction. Almost like a Centrifugal clutch.
It's a self contained unit with no drain plug. New they came with what looked like a turkey baster with a brake line attached and that's what was used to remove the fluid. I jerry rigged an Evac pump with a brake line attached to remove the fluid. Far from ideal. I changed the oil every 1,500 miles.
Good luck with your endeavor and i hope it all works out for you. That black Paxton you have is the exact same color that they used on the few Avanti R2 that came with a Paxton SN60.

I personally have seen numerous (over 10) vehicle titles with WRONG VIN numbers. I've also seen numerous vehicle repair invoices with the wrong year or wrong VIN. If a dealership and a state run DMV office can both make errors in data entry, then CERTAINLY a manufacturer can make a single digit VIN/Serial# mistake on their paperwork. If everything else says the man is right, and that one manufacturer shows a car with a single digit difference out of 2 possible cars, then I'm going to believe this guy is right. Side note: The Gothams used to own 160 acres of Manhattan, including where the NY Stock Exchange sits.
It was taken from them through imminent domain (along with proprty belonging to family members of Prince Edwards). and given to an organization that immediately divided it and resold it for way more than it was worth when they took it.

If the original owner wanted the OD unit, ostensibly because of high numerical gears, why wouldn't he want the Paxton at the same time, as well?

Common practice back in the day was. I work for a Pontiac dealer in Washington DC Blank Pontiac. I was schooled GM School for auto Transmissions. Back then car warranties were handled haphazardly to say the least. Can't tell you how many Transmissions were rebuilt under warranty and I never saw the car. Service manager told me take some old parts for warranty so when the warranty manager comes around you can see those parts and sometimes several times. My guess is that's supercharger was used in the same way they knew the car did not have miles on it as it was going to be brand new coming down the assembly line. So on the warranty tag you put enough miles to make it believable and that you were not going to get tripped up for the same problems slipping on shifts. My guess is that's how it came up with a Paxton Supercharger new. Done all the time back in the day LOL

Fred had 2 gt500kr convertibles, 2 gt500kr coupes & a Perrywinkelt5. A 79 f350 & a starsky & hutch car. Plus he had a mustang performance shop at the time. He had so many prototype nascar parts that filled an entire garage. He would know this car if he was still alive. Great Memories! TY!

Bill Kolb Jr (The Man who moved Muscle) was the sales Manager at Gotham Ford from 1966-1969 after Iacoca arranged to have him transferred from Larson Ford to Gotham, he sold more Shelby's than anyone in the country. He became the sale manager for Hory Chevrolet in 1970-1975 - where he sold 30 Black Corvettes in 1973. My brother owns one of the vettes and talked to Bill - he is in a retirement home in AZ.

I once bought a lime green VW golf (rabbit) .
It was a run of 20 right hand drive models in the UK .
Unfortunately the chassis number ended in 21 on the registration document instead of the 20 on the chassis plate .
I had a police man friend run the document number and it came up as a white car in a nearby town , we went to the owners house and explained what the issue was , his document had the same vin number, his car had a vin number ending in 21 .
So it was a typo of someone either at the dealership when registering the car or DVLA making a mistake.
(My vin did not come up as any car on the UK database)
After a lot of hassle convincing DVLA it was just a clerical error the car was inspected and a new V5 registration document issued .
I sold it and the new owner promptly crashed it into a lorry😂
What a lot of work for the car to last less than 2 weeks on the road.
It ended up at a scrap yard in broxburn just next to the fence where it stood out like a sore thumb in it's lime green paintwork slowly being stripped for all it's useable parts .

I know there is a 66 gt350 that I worked on in the nineties that isn't a real Shelby. The original was snuck out by a plumber and put sideways in to a telephone pole. The shop I worked at took another shell and vin swapped it , did a good job , the only tell was some of the spotwelds looked to nice in the rear . All off the books to preserve the value of the car . Now if you bought a 66 gt350 Shelby blue and white out of the Houston area , that might be your car .

His comment about not knowing if the auctioned supercharger came from the same estate as the car makes no sense. Every auctioned item has a Lot number. The auction house must have a detailed index of every item and where it came from /amount sold for accounting purposes. Should be a no-brainer to figure out.
