Jeff is one of my Neighbors on the lake east of Eureka Springs. I was in his garage last last year and drooled over that blue supercharged Shelby. I was there after he'd put it together--not sure it was finished, but very complete. Spectacular. The car's value is shocking.

This is BY FAR my all-time favorite body style Mustang, and to own a factory Paxton supercharged 1967 Shelby Cobra is just overwhelming. I really don't believe that I could possibly own and restore a car like this because I have ADHD and OCD badly, and I would obsess over having the correct screws, nuts, bolts, and all fasteners to make it absolutely correct and pristine. Yeah, this coming from a guy who obsesses over horsepower and engine swaps, but this car is special and when you're restoring a historically significant vehicle like this, you almost owe it to Carroll Shelby to do your absolute best to make this car just as it was when it rolled out of the factory. You're restoring a piece of history and doing anything other than how it was done from the factory is almost like sacrilege. Bravo gentlemen! It looks absolutely beautiful!

i careless about OEM parts if i had this car i would put a 4-5 speed transmission in it . to me a car should be how new owner want it to be it not about how the car was build . and would put 4 way disk brakes and updated the suspension make it safer . i cant stand OEM fan boys just saying

@@funtyes1970 that would be a " Restomod", I'd even go farther remove the ICE and make it a B. Electric, oh , and store all those old ICE parts in drums with WD40 oil for future full restoration , just in case & for the sake of history.

Great car and story as usual from Jerry. I worked at Brizio street rods back in 98 to 2000. We had a customer who had a 66 Shelby Mustang with a factory supercharger that he bought brand new. I saw it with my own eyes and touched it with my own hands! He drove it to the shop one day for us all to drool over! I knew it had to be stupid rare , but I had no idea it was one of 11! He was pretty old then , so I'm sure he's no longer with us , but he was a super nice and very intelligent guy. I'm sure he had a plan for its future after he was gone.

Many do not know that in late 66-67 Shelby had problems with fiberglass suppliers. What really needs to be done is WHEN each was built because both are based on production dates and more importantly WHAT WAS ON THE SHELF in the parts room. I owned a 67 GT500 for 24 yrs.. amazing what you discovered Shelby did to get cars out the door. Like the nibbler on the back panel and two different rear fiberglass taillight panels. SO did the blower car also have side scoops from a different maker?

PS I had a 1994 T-Bird with the Supercharged V6. I bought it for $500 about 8 years ago. The guy and his son had bought it and dumped a crazy amount of money in it. Ex:-lowered, pAint, new carpets, over 3.5 grand just in suspension work, he detailed everything. I also got 10 Rubbermaid totes full of other parts. An extra supercharger plus almost a complete motor, the list is endless. Well these years were famous for blowing head gaskets and he parked it cuz he could smell antifreeze burning AGAIN he says as he had already rebuilt the heads prior. His son found out due to medical issues that he wouldn't be able to get a license so they decided enough was enough and just wanted it to go to a car guy. Well I towed it home put in new battery and since I figured the motor pouched anyway why not start it. So I put some Barsleak in it and fired her up. Still driving to this day . There was a crack in the line for the heater return dripping on the heads. Ie:- the burning smell!!! Best buy I have ever done in my 50 years of buying and selling LOL.

Awesome find! Seeing the car has 27K miles and factory ordered, check that the Carter fuel pump is correct for a blower car as the top half was cast special to accept pipe thread for a nipple & hose that went to the back of blower to keep pressure on diaphragm from "fluttering" under acceleration!
My '66 blower unit was serviced by the Granetellis in North Philly in '83!
A daily driver, had fun scaring away big block Chevys after they heard the "whistling" from under the hood. 👍When completed, DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!

    *Jerry!*
Even this old Mopar guy can watch Jeff doing his thing with an "unobtanium" Ford/Shelby car and
just be mesmerized... my jaw slack for about the entire video.
This is true benchmark, legacy stuff. Incredible!
The mind races with questions, of course. Why did the previous owner never attempt to put it back together?
I mean, any of us who have gone through the process of rebuilding an old car know how much work is involved,
sure....but this rascal seemed to be all about the "Hemmings boogie" of parts buying, not so much the actual
assembling of the car. Looks like long on cash, short on free time? Who knows...
Regardless of however Jeff found it - and obviously, he *knows* what he's doing - we know it WILL get
assembled now, which means our friend *Jerry* WILL revisit the car - and we all get to SEE it back together!
Jerry, these are heady days my friend. As always, *thank you* for bringing this all to us!

This is absolutely remarkable that the past owner cataloged all these OEM parts for a true one of a kind future restoration. This mustang was originally built before I was born and the 67-69’s are the Mustangs that I like. Documenting the unpacking of these parts while articulating the history will forever be part of the car’s nostalgia.

    • @Rogue_Wave5150

What year did the last owner buy the car? Why buy all the parts. They were all missing?

    • @slagletoby
      @slagletoby 19 дней назад

@ The previous owner was going to restore the car but did not. Then it was sold as-is with all the OEM parts. The previous owner spent 20 something years buying parts. I think it was like 25 years of buying, cataloging, and storing parts that were never unpacked and remained sealed in the original packing with shipping dates, shipping costs, and where they were shipped from. Some of the earlier packing dates were from the mid-70’s. This means he was buying parts from 1975-2000 timeline. Remarkable!
You quizzed me after watching it once so I hope I got all this right. 😉

I appreciate your positive feedback. This edit took 4 weeks and over 200 hours to fit the content into an entertaining inside look at the find and components of this factory supercharged Shelby Mustang of 1967.

Who is the narrator? I keep hearing a young Ned Jarrett. Perfect for a video like this.

And actually, John Atzbach just sold two factory supercharged Shelby Cobras at Mecum back in 2020. One was the legit first supercharged model from Paxton, produced in 1965 (5S425), and the other was produced in 1966 (6S2265).

The red supercharged car in this video was John's car. I photographed this '66 model at Mid-American Shelby & Ford show in Tulsa and wrote a feature on this car for Mustang Monthly.

@@thewriter2549 That's so awesome bud. I have been a car nut since I was a kid and I'm 39 now, but I never knew that Shelby was working with Paxton and some of his earliest models came supercharged from the factory. This opened my eyes some today and I loved the learning from the experience. Thanks Jerry!

Even though those rear tail lights are 67 and 68 cougar, if you look carefully at the tail light part number exclusive to the Shelby's was the letter "S" in that part number which made it an official Shelby tail light and not the cougar tail light lens

    Cool car !
They also made factory supercharged gt 500s and those are even rarer.
