Hi, I was the owner of Gulfstream Jeep in Lantana FL for years we restrestored numerous vehicles over the years. I've been dealing with cancer for the last few years and only think it's been bearable watching your videos which I've now begun having to watch many a second time. This post has been without a doubt one of your best if I can say that. I enjoy the food at the end of most posts since I've been on a feeding tube the last few months. Thank you for giving an old car guy something to look forward to each week.
Keep up the good fight there buddy!!! Get yourself some massive doses of medical Cannabis and kick that cancers Ass!!! Wish you nothing but the best Broski!!!
Hello Mr. Mitchell. I'm Greg and I live near Orlando, FL. I retired a couple of years ago and was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinsons. I just want to say that I will keep you in my prayers and wish you all the best as you fight the cancer that has done a number on you. Dennis does have a love of the cars we loved back in the day. I appreciate his knowledge and passion every week. May God bless you and your family. Take good care, sir.
The fact that Dennis always pretty much buys the whole menu at those small mom and pop restaurants shows he is not only buying cars but helping these businesses out
The dudes you bought this from are so impressive. Their knowledge, their in depth research efforts and care for not only the car but all the parts is tremendous. I would trust these guys in any deal. The fact that you have built a reputation that led these guys to sell you this car has to be fulfilling. Hopefully one day, we will all be able to hear you fill in the missing story of this beauty. You have been finding great cars for years and now a great car has found you.
Dennis, this is a long shot but back in the 90s I worked for Al Vanderslice at Speed Frame Engineering in Farmersville CA. The way Dennis treats people is incredible! Unlike others who beat people up on their price he always treats them fair. I love how he treats them and his crew to dinner,, he really appreciates how hard they work. And he shows It. You get a lot more out of your employees like that. A lot of the other shows they don’t do that just give unrealistic deadlines. I would rather have it done correctly. Even if it takes a little longer. I would like to see some of the shop work when their getting restored

US 30 Dragstrip was always advertised as being in Gary Indiana. Up until 1971 it was actually in Ross Township on Clay Street about a 1/4 north of US 30. In 1971 the area was incorporated into the town of Merrillville Indiana. The dragstrip closed down in the mid 80s because people started to complain about the noise since new home started to be built. Sunday was race day and the announcer always said Sunday Sunday Sunday. Remnants of the track are still there including the IHRA painted logo at the starting line area. If you Google map US30 and Clay street Hobart Indiana ( the area was annexed by the larger city in the late 90s ) and follow clay street north you can still see the drag strip on the left ( west ). Back in the day Don Garlitts, Don the Snake Prudome and I think even John Force raced there. There’s quite the following for the track by the people that raced and attended races there. I live about 5 miles from the track and grew up in the town from 1976 until 1987. It was cool to see the sticker on the windshield.
I have similar memories of Fontana International Raceway in California. Every big name raced there. Mickey Thompson owned the track. Art Arfon Green Dragon was there as well. They
@@Telluridepilot i live a couple miles from the track and yes the remnants are still there. It was definitely listed as Gary Indiana back then as well as it being an IHRA track. Most of the 70s and 80s the radio ads announced it as Merrillville. Also it is a Hobart address now. I believe the annex in the 70s was Merrillville to Hobart?
Thanks,, I fell for, those 61 & **62 PONTIAC 421/SD,409s, etc… driving to and from AVILLA, US30, Bunker Hill DRAG STRIPS,etc in Indiana….I HAD hang out Garages WOLF LAKE ( NOBLE COUNTY, my High Class of 1965), N WEBSTER IND, & Warsaw ,etc.
I absolutely love this find. I am a Mopar lover, I mean I bleed Hemi Orange. But I was actually excited when y'all was talking about this one being the missing Shelby. The history of the build and how she came to be. How it hasn't seen the light since 70 and was stopped mid build because of rule changes. I know nothing about Shelby's other than what I have learned from your channel but this is such a incredible find. Congratulations brother, Outstanding.
While I like Chevelles a lot (owned a 69 SS 396) I have come to realize I actually love all the other American makes too ...as each brand has it's own deep racing history, odd factory race cars etc. I find it all damned interesting .
Incredible attention to detail! You can tell that they wanted someone who would care about this car and that this person was Dennis. Let's hope that there is a part 2 to this story. This car needs to be living and breathing again. If you go back and watch again, you can see that Dennis is not just listening, he is absorbing every detail including some of the stories of where this car has been. Great way to start the year!
What a treat to watch. Shelby car history and an Italian dinner to finish it up. Thank you so much for what you do with these cars. As stated in the video, when the old timers pass on, the stories and history go with them if not preserved by people like you. This is true American history.
Hi Brings back great memories at 68 nice to remember high school days . One of the local garages guys son had a 68 gt50 white it was just hot perfect dream just to see and hear. I worked at a pizza place on the main drag through our town and he would use the car to pick up dinner. A rainy day pulls up leaves the car running the pizza shop had full floor to ceiling windows and we made pizza the guy walks in and no sooner they he got to the counter a drunk just ran into the back of the car smashed the hell out of it. To say what a sad day . I went on to buy a 65 fast back 289 3 speed all ways dreamed of getting a 350 but such is life it stayed a dream. The real sad part I sold that car for $250. Oh my God what did I do! LoL hiow many stories about selling cars like that for nothing. God bless really enjoy watching your channel
Hey Dennis awesome find , I personally live about 5 mi from where that race track was can't say I remember seeing it race at us 30 but there's a place in schererville Indiana that holds the US 30 dragstrip reunion every year it's called whites pit stop on US 30 I go there every year to show my cars they display a lot of old pictures maybe somebody there can give you more information on this car
I lived in Merrillville for years. Had some work done by King Speed Shop of Torrence in Lansing "back in the day". They still have car shows at Simon Sez Drive-In, The Square in Crown Point, and at Big Top Drive-In in Hammond.
I did not know Dave passed away sad like you said awesome guy last one I went to was 2019 then the Cron came along I know they canceled the show figured it would be back this year but unfortunately looks like it might not but if the business still operates maybe he can make a call I'm sure they must still know people maybe point him in a good right direction, I feel they should still hold it and just rename it Dave's memorial us 30 dragstrip reUnion
Built & Modified for one purpose only, the Drag Strip. Just when you think there are no more rare ones, Dennis makes this Mustang appear. It’s what you call an Have To Buy. 😎👍🇨🇦
Amazing that rare cars are still being uncovered. This Shelby is so uniquely cool and original. Thanks Dennis for purchasing as it needs to be seen again. It’s expensive but guys like Dennis keep these cars alive. If I had the funds I’d do the same thing.
It was interesting to hear the name Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick brought up. I grew up in SE Iowa & the local dragstrip was in Cordova, Illinois. Arnie was a local legend.
I just LOVE this Shelby! About 45 years ago in Royal Oak, Mi. was around a 68- 69 Mustang shell (as I recall) that might've ben an early funny car or AFX car I could've bought for around $2000.00 it had a one piece tilt front, engine set back etc... But as a kid I had no money to buy it & then it was gone.
My old boss used to tell me stories about this car, if I recall right there was only 2 of these built, I can get him in contact with you, he knew who bought it new.
The first 200 +/- '67 Shelby's had red lights on the upper scoops. My GT500, #203, did not have the lights, but the wires were indeed there from the taillight harness.
@@kobra289 Ya I don't know why he started talking about early production cars and then revealed they thought this car was #1444. I would think by #1444 the harnesses would no longer have those side light pigtails.
That is why people call Dennis. His knowledge, passion and fairness.Name the toughest price negotiation you've seem him in. Dennis almost always pays asking price. He knows value and knows what he can make. Just a true car guy.
What a great start of the new year. The Right car in the right hands, from the right previous owners, who did a OUT STANDING RESEARCH JOB.This channel is the best,it's my favorite.
Just because it hasnt been certified yet doesnt mean it wont be. They also said they ran out of leads to people to gain more knowledge and info. Dennis has more ties to more people and that is what they wanted to happen.
As it seems happens so often with a car like this one, some imbecile decided it was time to spray her over with black paint. Never understand why so many people resorted to this. Dumb? Cheap? Lazy?
I look up old picks of us 30 drag strip. I think I remember that car back in 68 or 69 being out at us 30. , I have a number of buddies who race there on Friday nights , I will ck with them to see if they have Any picks of that period of our life’s , we are all in our 70s now . I will let you know if I am successful .
Dennis you absolutely positively have to keep us up-to-date on what you do with that car I know it’s gonna be a while but updates from time to time would be outstanding!
By far the most incredible finds that you have come across. Wow. I retire in a few months and want to know if can I come work for free just to get a chance to wash cars like this. Lol. What a way to spend a retirement. Keep up the good work Dennis you are truly a class act.
Im happy it’s going to Dennis and his team to figure out more about this Shelby. I’m scratching my head about this and learning as always about this car. This is more than just a Shelby it’s history. I can’t wait for a update about this car and please make a video.
It’s a real one. It was a stolen one from new. This. I know. Yea. Look. I know a bit more but can’t say. ..Carroll got this one back. .. that’s a part of Carroll people don’t know about him. ..he was A big deal to me. .. be nice to see Dennis. Get it running. .. it’s spent. Years. Hidden away from the world. Like I said. /I know this car. @marcus

Sean , looks like he’s saying “ Dennis stfu and let me get this thing loaded to i get down the road” guys I’m uk 🇬🇧 so I’m guessing this is a 2 day haul maybe more?
Words cannot describe. Shelby, Drag Car, Beyond Cool. Please, Please shows us from time to time. I for one really like to watch, listen and most of all learn about Old Car Histories. Drag Racing most of all.
What an awesome episode. The fact this car was literally 2 minutes down the road from my house is mind boggling. I literally drive past this building everyday if not twice daily. Wish I could of seen it in the flesh.
Dennis I love everything you guys do but as I sit here beside my 4 year old watching this, I just wanted to say...thank you for keeping the language clean! That means a lot these days.
One of my favorite videos. Dennis is a first class guy. I look forward to his videos. I’m not sure if this one can be topped. I need a part two. More history on that car. Some old pics maybe. Keep up the great work. Love you guys.
Well Dennis I think starting off 2022 with a top 5 find is a good start!! Cool guys you purchased it from. Can't wait to see more videos on this amazing find. They did it right contacting you for sure. We all know you will do her right can't wait!! Outstanding car sir!!

The details and love by them is incredible....what care and professionalism. The Professors at work....DC is cool he let's others share their knowledge and listens.....and now I want Italian.
Dennis . I'm not sure what's the most impressive . The Mustang or the amount of food you all ate !!!!! Have to say these guys were very passionate about the car and knew nearly as much as you .......nearly ! But there's only one Dennis Collins !!! For me , that was the best restaurtant l've seen on your show ! Belissimo ! Thanks Dennis !
Incredible find and buy. The guys who sold this to you seem to be detail orientated in providing the correct information and sharing what they know and love of cars. Would not touch the paint, looks awesome.
Dennis is a good gentleman. Not many buyers, comes buys the car and takes everyone out too dinner. No questions asked. Rawlings can't wait to steal from yas and get outa there.✌🇮🇪
Grew up in this era and loved anything Shelby. Used to go to the dragstrip where my older brother raced and spent much time hanging around the tear down garage/inspection area. Those old guys taught me much about cars. The only disappointment with this video is that we couldn't see more of this garage. It appears to be loaded with awesome old racers...
Wow that is an amazing, beautiful, badass crazy piece of history. As beautiful as it would look with fresh paint the patina is so sick. Find of a lifetime and I really hope we get to see an update on this one. Would be so awesome to see you driving this in a later upload!💯👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤
YES, that seems to be the holiest of grails (at least in my book) of a find. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! Please update the progress, and most definitely get that thing back on the strip!! 💚💚💚💚💚💚
If this is a US 30 car and spent that much time on the south side of Chicago you need to get a hold of the Messino family. They were the builders and still owners of the Shake Rattle n Run a 1957 gasser. I’d be willing to bet that have run across this car. You also might want to get with some of the old Dukes Drive in folks….
The 67 GT350 I owned was #2188. It originally had inboard headlights and it was hit in the front drivers side. The front drivers side inner fender was replaced losing the factory number on that side, and the rear inner fender had a small dent in it. The radiator support was brazed back onto the front cross frame section, and a spot of the support clearly had a weld cut that once held the bracket to mount the inboard headlights. Shelby's are lots of fun looking for tell tail signs of their youth. I thank God that the passenger front inner fender had the original factory VIN number proving my GT350 was authentic.
Another great coffee walk video and a great start to 2022. This car is now in the hands of the proper person to put the story together to tell its history. What a great find for the Shelby community.
Hey Johnnie, they say you miss 100% of the shots you dont take. Itd be great if you would check out my automotive channel and consider subscribing. Trying to grind and get 1k subscribers!!
While I have great love for old classic cars , a profound respect for the builders and innovators of the past such as Mr. Shelby and especially his mustangs , I wish there were more people CREATING legends than just trying to preserve what has already been done . These cars were created for a purpose : go fast and capture the public imagination . I would love to see what Dennis could CREATE in this spirit . Heck , for that matter what ALL of us car lovers could create ! I appreciate the efforts to preserve the past but I want tire smoke , the sound of rolling thunder , the feel of the open road lit by headlights with a functional hood scoop framing the view . No disrespect intended but what I DON'T want is an obsessive compulsive hours long discussion on what part # should go where or if it belongs . Get that beautiful piece of machinery out on the road and let it breath the fire it was created for ! Thanks gentlemen and have a nice day !
What a time capsule you have just bought my favorite car from the past. My first car was a 1965 mustang when I wasn't breaking parts it ran fast. Your the perfect gentleman for this car Dennis congratulations. Let the fun begin I can't wait to see your finish baby...

Love coffee walks like this one, saving history is what I am all about. So if that car was ran around the greater Chicago area you may want to talk to some of the folks at Grand Spaulding Dodge ( Mr Norm) maybe they remember competing against this car or some of the big Ford racers from Gaudin Ford or Tasca Ford maybe they remember this car. Just a thought. Thanks again Dennis ford saving history !!!!!
As someone who grew up in Gary I probably went to at least a hundred races at US 30 between 1965-75 and this car is not remembered by me, not saying it never raced there but definitely not a regular.
Dennis you have some of the best automotive content on RUclips. I thank you for your passion to preserve historic cars. I’m grateful for you sharing your automotive passion with the masses. Love what you do!
License plates = Helenor ,man thats Sick !! what an Awesome Car !! Thanks Dennis And also Many Thanks to those guys for taking 3 Years of their lives to research this car too. So Much Respect for your Efforts.
Dennis, I'd like to hear more about this car. A date correct 289 with a blower and hilborn injection with a 4 speed would be awesome in that car. Please Dennis please, I want to hear more.

Back in the late 70's a guy that I worked with his Dad worked for Shelby when they built them at L.A. airport. When his Dad passed away he said that the amount of memorabilia they he threw away was staggering. If he had only known that there was gonna be a thing called e-bay he would have made a killing.
I'm a Mustang guy, specifically pre 1968. Had I known this car was under 50 miles from me, I would have already been there and absorbed some of that nastalgia. Amazing piece hidden so close to home. I'm on the Stephenson County Line south of Freeport Illinois.
I'm more of a GM guy... but have seen and welded on some Ford things from that era... If that group or any PO faked you; they're Blue Collar Need Their Own Show level. Lost of funk, lots of accuracy, lots of real. This thing FEELS right. I want to see it hook on a track one day soon!

They
You are correct sir I am 20 mins from where it was never heard Gary but yes it is located in Ross township
@@speedtrapp219d2 It may never been announced as Gary but I’ve saw posters and flyers with Gary, Indiana on them.
As aFord Man. You have found some of Wildest Cars. Thank you so much.
Congratulations brother,
Outstanding.
@Martin love the nostalgia
À away,ooollk
While I like Chevelles a lot (owned a 69 SS 396) I have come to realize I actually love all the other American makes too ...as each brand has it's own deep racing history, odd factory race cars etc. I find it all damned interesting .
Dennis. A friends grandma may have owned this Shelby. Her husband was Cal Customs the fiberglass guy. Just finding out. Will get them to email you
Incredible attention to detail!
A part 2. Be cool.
What a treat to watch. Shelby car history and an Italian dinner to finish it up. Thank you so much for what you do with these cars. As stated in the video, when the old timers pass on, the stories and history go with them if not preserved by people like you. This is true American history.
What a gorgeous car! I’m a Cop, around 75 miles from there. My best bud and are from the West Palm area, he’s got a restored GT350r car. Enjoy!
Hi
Brings back great memories at 68 nice to remember high school days .
White's no longer is doing the US 30 reunion. Ain't the same since Dave passed. That was my guy. Awesome dude.
Don’t bother, they don’t respond
I did not know Dave passed away sad like you said awesome guy last one I went to was 2019 then the Cron came along I know they canceled the show figured it would be back this year but unfortunately looks like it might not but if the business still operates maybe he can make a call I'm sure they must still know people maybe point him in a good right direction, I feel they should still hold it and just rename it Dave's memorial us 30 dragstrip reUnion
I doubt Dennis replies to posts. Just about the money.
The All Original Factory Shelby Mustang Drag car that never got to run. IMO that's Priceless
Yah. I live in Morrison. He is a legend here.
I got to meet Arnie about 25 years ago at a dragstrip in Virginia. He's one of the all time greats.
Met Arnie at Union Grove, Got an autographed shirt and Hat, Great Person he is !!!!!!!!!!!!
Owning a pristine Shelby Mustang is one thing but that car oozes cool exactly as it is,just about perfect. What a find!👍
Trouble is that 1444 is nowhere near an early production car.
Dumb? Cheap? Lazy?
@Martin Jesus you have a very difficult time reading between the lines. It will be worth millions when Dennis is done that is all you need to know.
@Martin Continue to live in ignorant bliss. When the car appears at the Barrett Jackson and sells for millions you can think of me. Later dude.
Chasing the story, relaying the story and showcasing life experiences of America through cars is golden. Thank you.
I look up old picks of us 30 drag strip. I think I remember that car back in 68 or 69 being out at us 30. ,
I have a number of buddies who race there on Friday nights , I will ck with them to see if they have
Any picks of that period of our life’s , we are all in our 70s now . I will let you know if I am successful .
That was my favorite coffee walk yet. I never knew about that car.
Bloody. Unbloodybelievable. ( In. The. Words. Of. The. Car. God’s ) lol.
@marcus
@@simon.houseaccount4807 Huh?

@MartinWhy stolen vs wrecked?
What a wicked looking Shelby. It may not be right, but it’s certainly not wrong.
So glad these guys realized what they had. Couldn’t be in better hands with you. Love the old Shelby’s. I owned a ‘69 GT 500. 👍🏻
Hell yeah.. how old are u
Nice i know someone who owns 71 gt350
@@AlejandroP1980s insane..... old ones correct???
I worked at the San Jose plant in Milpitas in 66 thru 67. This vid brought so many memories flooding back. (-:
I'd kind of like to see a day in the life of Sean doing the long hauls. With the Coffee Walks he just appears with a trailer wherever he is needed just like magic :)
Sean , looks like he’s saying “ Dennis stfu and let me get this thing loaded to i get down the road” guys I’m uk 🇬🇧 so I’m guessing this is a 2 day haul maybe more?
@@stephenpalmer741 Let's just say it is from Manchester to London & back 3 times.
Dennis drinking a coffee .....the other guy drinking a beer 😆. Another Great video 👍
Dennis had a coffee cup, we don't really know what was in it.. But yes, great video/content.
One of my favorite videos. Dennis is a first class guy. I look forward to his videos. I’m not sure if this one can be topped. I need a part two. More history on that car. Some old pics maybe. Keep up the great work. Love you guys.
The work that was done in that time period is amazing. No computers, just hard work and ingenuity.
Well Dennis I think starting off 2022 with a top 5 find is a good start!! Cool guys you purchased it from. Can't wait to see more videos on this amazing find. They did it right contacting you for sure. We all know you will do her right can't wait!! Outstanding car sir!!
YES, these two gentlemen who found this car. WILL go down as LEGENDARY. 👍😉
Please keep us updated on the history of this build. This one sounds like it’s going to be epic story line.
Knowing what Shelby it is is the goal but the history and the investigation into it is just as exciting
Dennis Collins is a true AMERICAN ICON - he makes it special to love vintage American iron. Keep up the great work - you are such a youtube asset and an auto enthusiasts best friend!
I like how everyone they know showed up for the free Dennis Collins supper.
If there's a Dennis Collins video, it's an outstanding day!
Very cool Shelby, fortunately I’m old enough to remember these cars when they were racing back in the day . Thanks for keeping the era alive.
From a ford guy this is my favorite! but i do enjoy the jeep info. Love it all
Can't wait for the update on this car when U get it....... The history, the legacy.... OMG love it.....
You can just tell Dennis is a genuinly good dude. Great coffee walk and great car. Keep us updated.
Hey Johnnie, they say you miss 100% of the shots you dont take. Itd be great if you would check out my automotive channel and consider subscribing. Trying to grind and get 1k subscribers!!
Dennis we have to see this thing on the road with you behind the wheel 🙏
Its an absolute must and non-negotiable 💯👍👍🔥🔥🔥❤
This quality of history and content is what makes Coffee Walk special.
Great find and a piece of Shelby history and it’s in the rite hands it’s people like this that find the stuff that’s been lost and keep the history alive of an era that is AMERICA for all car guys
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK DENNIS
This is what freedom is suppose to look like no masks and enjoying a meal with your friends. I'm a corvette guy but have a soft spot for early mustangs. Enjoy your meal gentleman. Semper fi....
The quality of this Vlog is amazing. History channel should put up this great channel.
As someone who grew up in Gary I probably went to at least a hundred races at US 30 between 1965-75 and this car is not remembered by me, not saying it never raced there but definitely not a regular.
I’m not an expert but at 70 years of age and a drag racing fan, I don’t remember ever seeing the FF/X class. Maybe someone else will ?
Dennis you have some of the best automotive content on RUclips. I thank you for your passion to preserve historic cars. I’m grateful for you sharing your automotive passion with the masses. Love what you do!
Dennis at the Restaurant, "what are you in the mood for?" Dennis holds up the Menu "all of it!"

what an Awesome Car !!
Thanks Dennis And also Many Thanks to those guys for taking 3 Years of their lives to research this car too.
So Much Respect for your Efforts.

So true. Real gentleman. Not like that Gas monkey idiot.
he's the type of friend you should try to be to your friends.
Dennis, Thank you for rescuing this important piece of Shelby History - this is an automobile from my late teens. (Born1948)
What an incredible car. I feel lucky to even see it on utube. Please keep us informed with what happens to it.
Dennis, I'd like to hear more about this car. A date correct 289 with a blower and hilborn injection with a 4 speed would be awesome in that car. Please Dennis please, I want to hear more.
When guys truly know and love what there talking about great conversation 👍
It's good to be the King.
Dennis your life is every Hot Rodders / Car Guys dream.
What a cool shop, look's like a lot of bad cars & bikes hiding in the background. I'd love to take a tour of that shop.

Great episode. I’d love to see the team build this car.
Friday, Dennis, Lost Mustang, schooling and amazing food. Perfect combination ❤️
I can relate to the guy's t-shirt " JUST ONE MORE CAR I PROMISE "
1st comment [as I'm watching this superb episode for the first time] Love "The Little Trinket" Bike that's got the Evel Knievel and Hot Wheels design factor.
