LYRICS:
Squawk seven five zero zero mane. World in a barell drippin’ some blood. Three dead riders grippin’ the reigns. of Saturn in da last plastic cup. Couldn’t make me into a hero. Couldn’t turn me into a coward. Whatever history that you wrote blew away in the wind on your way down from your ivory tower. Your words lost their power. You can aim down, fire. We’ll be down here living how we want. Never coming back. Never coming back. Run into a smack. With a hand to deliver. You always see right through me. When i am lost and out of place. You always watch me stumble down. While you wait for me to drown. Of all the ways I’ve given in. I can’t believe it’s not enough. To satisfy my endless search for any form of love. So I will stay my course until you break my wrists. Do everything to keep my silent. You wanna start a war with all that I stand for? You always see right through my, my masquerade. I know there’s nowhere to hide. I’m cellophane. I feel like I’ve gotta change. I feel like I’ve gotta stay. All of the handsome fiction will melt away. And when flame burns brighter, evaporate. You always see right through my, my masquerade. I know there’s nowhere to hide. I’m cellophane. All of the
fabrication will melt away. And when flame burns hotter, evaporate.
Man I love the way this band does their heavy to soft contrasts. Personal favorite off the album here.
Definitely the best off the album I do like gospel burnout and every other song though.
Is this hansol the fire wizard?
Damn, who knew one of my favorite fire mage streamers also had incredible taste in music. Could 100% see you making a montage to this song, so fitting 😁
Hell yeah man, same here!
One of my favorite qualities truly
and now Andrew is the lead clean vocalist. bravo, Andrew🤘
yeah bit of a step down isnt it
@@BadDubII isnt
@@sega5785 Tis
Tilian better Jonny was the best 😅
Nope
Andrew fits into DGD so perfectly. Seriously hope they make him an official member and give him more vocal parts.
Nick Wojciechowski he got another song in the new album :))
boy do i have good news for you
@@baron1324 hahahaha this is a great comment to come back to
Well this comment aged wells
boy do i got news for you
Did you guys find the other easter egg? The instruments are playing a rendition of Burning Down The Nicotine Armoire (1 & 2) during the lyrical throwbacks. This band is something else
Shilo Murphy Really?!
man I barely even noticed until you pointed it out. it’s like a slower version
God, that was killing me listening to this the first time triying to figure it out. Highly underrated song off the Death Start album.
Every riff seems like a throwback in this song, its also the rhythm for the zoloft chorus. The buildup with no snare with Tilian after the first guest vocal is a strawberry swisher pt 3 type as well. Just imagine after that part the drum fill "bap bom boom; I-- was raised to believe.."
Obvi
This is by far the best way they've ever ended a song/album. Those quotes from past songs really stir up some emotions.
It really is. I'd put Man of the Year #2.
I’m reading the comments as I listen, and I’m a little excited for the ending now.
It was beautiful.
Luckys Tongue that was me asf
Same 😂😂😂
Ending gave me chills
me too man holy shit
Well don't it feel good?
Same... Unreal track
YOU GOT WHAT YOU PAID FORRRR
I love the song references, perfect ending
I was genuinely worn out from listening to this album. I felt every emotion imaginable. Listening to this album is an experience. A beautiful, amazing experience!
Indyphobic Casuals Are Killing Professional Wrestling it felt exhausting, but in a therapeutic way. Bloodsucker hit me hard because I had someone like that in my life. Music can heal and the more I listen to this album, the more I'm able to look at my own life and move on from the past.
This hits different now that Tim’s gone. RIP Tim Feerick.
And Tillian is out now….for obvious different reasons
Feat. Andrew Wells from Eidola BTW
What is FEAR alright cool, been thinking Andrew Wells of MGMT 😂 I was like, doesn't even sound like him lol thanks 👍
No problem my friend
I was wondering whose voice they threw in there. Thanks man.
He's their rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist whenever they go on tour.
Jesus, thank you. I've listened to it over and over trying to figure it out. But also cus it blows me away every time.
The feat is the vocalist from Eidola - DGD's tour guitar - another really amazing band btw
Mauricio Thomsen thanks I was seriously confused lol
Thanks! I knew I recognized his voice from somewhere.
I’ve never heard of Eidola! I’m gonna check em out for sure now!
Ooh so this is the guitarist who tours with them? I noticed he is a pretty sick vocalist as well when I saw them in Wien
Juny1spion he’s a great vocalist. I don’t get why he’s not a permanent fixture in DGD as yet another layer of awesome. You know, like this song.
Dance Gavin Dance is so underrated and it's such a shame. These guys should be so much more famous.
Bro they get millions of views, they're icons in this scene. I mean granted I too think they should get numbers like modern pop haha, this shit is so real. Cant believe its not tens of millions of views, but I wouldn't call it underrated.
They are perfect where they are
In my heart
They hit #13 on billboard with Mothership. I would not call them underrated 😀
I think it’s better that they’re not lol
Best outro ever!!!!
Juan Lagos cried bro
Michael Murphy yeah me too bruh :'c
Tilian/ Swann 2020 MAKE AMERICA DANCE AGAIN
hahahahaha
make, please
I'd buy that sticker
*2024 gotta be at least 35

4:18 who drains the blood from my head? I do, I do. Who accepts me as I am? I DO, I DO. Goosebumps every damn time.
I hear it lmao
Repeat repeat
YO THEY SAMPLED THEIR OWN MUSIC. That last verse is so hard :0
RIP Tim
They better play this song live, especially with Andrew.
Breaking Light i saw them live last night, but they only played the 3 singles released early. Was still a great set list tho
kcl902 They only tend to do two or three new songs on the first tour after an album release. It's only the next tour where they dig into the album a little more.
What were the new songs they played? They had four singles released.
they added it to the set.
This entire album. Summed up perfectly by this amazing outro. We dont deserve you DGD, thank you for another killer track list 👌
Robert Walsh Right, how did we deserve 14 new songs from them?!
Defintely wasnt expecting 14 songs, best surprise I could've hoped for 👌 this and Suspended In Disaster are my favorites but what makes it awesome is how hard it is to choose a favorite 😂
Andrew Wells has a killer voice 😌
Ya he does. He compliments this band so well.
Dance Gavin Dance makes me feel at home.
Makes me feel like a child and an adult at the same time if that makes sense.
This band has been a part of every chapter of my life since eighth grade. I’m 23 now. So much of this album gave me chills and made me incredibly happy (KURT TRAVIS!!!) But having found Eidola a few years back and seeing Andrew play with them live once I was brought to tears by his feature on this tune especially because the song has a very Eidola style to it on the breakdown. But the final section where they cycle through the generations of dgd on clean and unclean vocals honestly had me weeping. These guys are so so talented and so slept on. Crazy level of nostalgia with this tune. It has to be one of their best ever. If not for anything else but at least the outro. Genius. Keep doing what you are doing guys I will listen until I die
SmidgeMulah 🙌
let me say this, because i know it's going to be a repeat of what everyone else has said, but fuck it.
i've been listening to DGD since 2006, about when "whatever i say" came out. through jonny, kurt, and tillian, with or without jon mess, i have grown though my 20s and into my 30s listening to these guys, and to say the least, the outro to this song left me in tears solely because they recognise their roots and how they got to where they are now. in fact, my first experience with them live was in 2007 back in NJ when JC was still in the band, him and Mess made a comment about how since they always spin around each other, the cables to their mics always wrap around each other until its so tight that they bump into each other. fast forward 12 years later, and i'll be seeing them here in WA, still kicking ass as they did so many years before, but still staying true to who theyve always been. to anyone who has any issues with them not sounding like they did when JC was still in: fuck you. DGD will, and forever, always be a band that knows how to throw it down, and in doing so, will never forget what made them who they are now. thank you, DGD, i've never had so much confidence in a band staying true until you guys.
Very well said!
This is stupid. DGD prides themselves for experimenting. Invalidating your opinion.
When I saw them during the 10yr anniversary your, Jonny and Jon clasped hands and spun around during the intro and I'm not ashamed to admit it, I single tear of joy rolled down my cheek
This ending is EVERYTHING. 💜💜
That Ending has permanently been engraved in my soul!!!!!!!! You get what you pay for
The Alex English lyrics in the ending gave me chills
That lick by Andrew “ I can’t believe it’s not enough “ whew !
That outro at 3:56 doesn't ever get old...I still get the same chills when I first heard Jon and Tilian at the same time like that. Fuckin masterpiece boys. Hope I get to meet you guys and give you all a big fuckin hug you guys are beyond incredible.
This is the best song they made ever .
Its like all there best vocals in one song and in memory of the OG
3:56 STEP BACK, LET GO, STEP BACK, LET GO, I BELIEVE THERES MEANING, NO I BELIEVE THERES NOTHING from Jon while Tillian says You should of listened to your friends, you would've been over this by now" fucking incredible goose bumps every single time this band is UNPARRALLELEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
should have
should've
1:34 blows my mind every time
Ending lyrics (including songs):
Surprise! I'm From Cuba, Everyone Else Has One Brain “Step back let go”
Me and Zoloft Get Along Just Fine “You should’ve listened to your friends, you would have been over this by now”
Acceptance Speech “Who drains the blood from my head? (I do, I do) Who accepts me as I am? (I do, I do)”
Tree Village “What excuses do you make?” “Repeat repeat” “Our history”
The Backwards Pumpkin Song “For one good note”
Alex English “Well don't it feel good? You got what you paid for”
Gooood ass song, feel free to comment the ones I missed ^^
And the "i'm found" from times new roman
you're a god @Blader
Also We Own The Night was in there
"I believe there's meaning, no I believe there's nothing"
~several songs on DBM, probably specifically Cuba since it's with the "Step back let go" part
Times New Roman & We Own the Night were in there. Dude, this song to cap the album off was such a mind fuck for their fans. I love DGD.
The ending made me cry Q.Q so beautiful.
Loserrr feels good~ we got what we paid for!!!!
Well don’t it feel good!! 😭😭😭😭♥️❤️♥️❤️
I listened to the ending lik 20 times while tears constantly ran down my face. The way they were able to mash up so many past songs at the end is a real tribute to their musical ability! That and they were all of the hard hitting heart string pulling songs from the past!! Amazing! I fukking will always love dgd!!!!
The best album of 2018 yet!
JN Perez my favorite albums so far this year are reverence (parkway drive) and defy (of mice & men). I thought this album was mediocre besides a couple songs.
My personal favorite so far is I Don't Think I Can Do This Anymore by Moose Blood, but this is definitely up there.
Connor Martinez sorry, guess I'm not allowed to have an opinion. I respect whatever you or anybody else likes to listen to. No need for being a douche bag because somebody doesn't agree with you. The reason I'm not a huge fan of the album is because I'm not really into this type of pop-punk music anymore. I liked this band when I was a teenager, but now that I'm in my mid 20s, I still follow them because they come out with a decent song every so often, but that's about it. There's a way to tell someone that you have a different opinion than them in a mature manner, not like you just did. Reverence from parkway drive is one of my favorite albums by them, and if you think it's generic, then you should listen to the lyrics more closely.
Connor Martinez all good man. Yeah I'm big into the lyrics of songs because it gives them meaning for me and something to think about. Like the new parkway drive album hits me hard because some of the songs talk about corruption in the church and religion in general (such as "wishing wells" and "I hope you rot") which I find very interesting, being against the church and religion myself. And some of the instrumental breakdowns in this album are awesome. Whereas dgd songs typically don't have much meaning to me anymore, but they're fun to groove to. Like I loved their single that came out recently, midnight crusade. I'd rather ppl listen to something like this than some of the garbage on the radio.
Engineer DGD's lyrics are not meant to take seriously, especially Jon's, he uses his voice more like an instrument and just writes lyrics that sound good and rhyme well. But I agree with Reverence not being as bad as everyone makes it out to be, not generic at all imo.
2 years ago today, my heart dropped thinking this was the last album DGD would ever make. The last minute of this song felt like a farewell to all of their fans. I cried because this band has gotten me thru hell, and I didn’t want to see them go, let alone hear them say goodbye.
I was wrong ofc! This wasn’t goodbye, it was more of a homage to everything the band has been thru. An acknowledgment of their past as a group of rad dudes who really care about their fanbase. i felt what it was like to truly love the sound that Will Swan, Matt Mingus & Jon Mess created. The band as a whole is amazing without a doubt (past & present member included). This band will always be my favorite band in the world. The Beatles of my universe.
Preach 🙏
I Love Andrew's feature! anyone else listen to this like 20 times a day too?
You kidding I listen to this 40 times a day
favorite song off the album i can't stop listening to it
If DGD ever stop making music I will die. Best band ever. ❤️ Jon Mess
Who's accepts as I am, I Do! Do! Do!
Love it. Brings me back acceptance speech
Love it. Tillian gets respect.
tony assassin it's supposed to haha
That's the point.
Yeah guys I think we are all aware that it’s the exact same vocal part from acceptance speech
We love you dgd please never leave us… august 2024❤❤❤
There is not a single band on this planet, who's song gets stuck in my head as easily as Dance Gavin Dance. -w-
Been a DGD since Downtown Battle Mountain.
This song Beautiful, Will, Wells and Tim F killing guitars and bass, Tllian doing gods work and the OG drummer Matt always in his prime. One thing though the reference to the old songs ESPECIALLY "ALEX ENGLISH" got me emotional the fact that no matter whos in the band now they respect what got them here!
Andrew Wells has one of the best voices I’ve ever heard. I listen to (and enjoy) every genre of music and holy shit dude. Wtf????
Those final lyrics make me so emotional.
The outro gave me chills!
Listening to DGD for a decade now.....And this ending wraps up all feelings. So. many. feelings
It makes me so happy to see Andrew from Eidola teaming up with DGD.
So blown away from the ending at first that I come back and appreciate Andrew’s part so much. Killed it
When Tilian says "for one good note" Its fuckin beautiful. 4:35
Andrew from Eidola really getting it on this one. Good goddess, getting chills isn't a strong enough phrase.
Ese final es tan magico...
No pude con el, termine llorando bastante fuerte😭.
DGD se la rifo con ese outro.
El mejor outro que eh escuchado en toda mi vida♥
te entiendo
This album is the best yet. I cant believe a band could have this many good albums under their belt. Its been quite a ride for these guys.
I’m 28 now.
I remember seeing Jonny on stage
I remember having all my friends seeing Kurt and singing to every song from self titled
I remember my friend making us crowd surf
I remember Jon and Kurt doing rock solid.
I remember being kicked out for Tillian’s first LA show.
I remember my friends
They’re gone now.
I’m going this November with my girlfriend.... and
I miss you guys. My friends. DGD.
You guys were great. I only wish the party lasted longer
Evaporate reminds me of it all
Thank you Dance Gavin Dance
I may not have my friends anymore
But I will always remember how you made us bond... and this November... I will lose myself again.
I’ll see you. I’ll lose myself and I’ll become that same 21 year old that danced and sang to all your songs all over again
Will...
I will scream out your name in LOS ANGELES. Just know when you hear I LOVE YOU WILL!!! It’s me
And it’s because you’ve been there the entire time
You’re the greatest member of Dance Gavin Dance
Andrew kicks so much ass good to see him in lead
Marvel: Endgame is the most ambiguous crossover ever
DGD: Hold my strawberry swisher
Underrated comment right here :)
I'm assuming this was stolen from a comment by @commitdie on the "son of a robot" music video. Still a funny comment, but give credit where credit is due.
Andrew Wells.
this song makes my brain sparkle
literally me
😮
Okay but the fact that the unclean vocals sings cleanly in this song made my heart drop 😍 this is a fave of both myself and my boyfriend from this album, and the outros at the end fucking blew us away ❤️ WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH DGD!! YOU ARE A LEGEND! You brought us closer I swear, I’m going to play your songs at my wedding 😂😘
the screamer doesn't sing, it's Andrew Wells from Eidola, their touring guitarist atm
This song sounds like a heartfelt goodbye. Just all of the lyrical elements present- "never coming back" "i feel like i gotta stay". Playing with my emotions for sure. Either way if this is for some reason the end, what a way to go out. I only hope they keep writing and pushing the boundaries because this band is so unique and phenomenal.
and "you got what you paid for" ;)
Damn. Like DAMNNN.
ZERO. Damn Gavin, Damn
goosebumps every time at that ending
I'm crying, I'm actually fucking crying I love this entire album. Thank you SO much for such great jams.
Aggreed!!!!!!
Me too. Been a fan of theirs for over 10 years now. This song is such a throwback, a tribute to what made their fans their fans. So glad I got to see them live.
As a friend of the lead singer THANK YOU for making this possible!
YES MA'M!!!!!!!!!
I listened to the ending lik 20 times while tears constantly ran down my face. The way they were able to mash up so many past songs at the end is a real tribute to their musical ability! That and they were all of the hard hitting heart string pulling songs from the past!! Amazing! I fukking will always love dgd!!!!
this album is extravagant, such a masterpiece
this song is so good actually..
i love the end to this song with all the callbacks but also the guest vocals in this song made me find out about the band Eidola on blue swan records. their songs are dope too. this is the song that keeps on giving
This song is the shit. So much emotion. Thank you
I got my Pre-order a couple days ago and my mouth dropped when I heard the end, first off, Andrew Wells is AMAZING! Secondly, the ending lyrical mashup makes this my favorite DGD song of all time, it hits hard!
Godamn the way Andrew says BELIEVE in second verse is so good
Wow! It's cool they got Andrew Wells (Eidola) to sing on such a sweet song
That god damn bridge tho! 😩🔥
I thumbs up during the ad because it's DGD and it's new.
Who’s listening in 2024 🙏🏻
Me and Zoloft get along just fine
Andy from Eidola is such a ledgend...the way he strains “I can belieeeeeve it’s not enough” is so fucking incredible..one of my favorite voices in the genre
Nick Russo he sounds just like Jonny when he does that and I wish he was the dgd singer
this is one of the best song on the album along with Shelf Life bc Kurt Travis is in that song
Jared Kinney Kurt Travis is the best vocalist in the world.
Kurt's song is the best song on the album! and it's not just because it's him singing, his lyrics are excellent as well, instrumentally its a super beautiful track, and Jon Mess' lines on it are some of his best on the album
XanthelinHS couldn’t agree with you more man! Story of my Bros is a close second with this song because it’s so different it’s like Pop Punk
now I miss kurt even more!
It's Kurt's song
damn!!! the boys have gone and done it again!
THAT OUTRO YOOOOOOOOOO
This song on full blast is pure therapy!
4:04
I love the fact that it's
Tree Village - Happiness
Untitled - Downtown Battle Mountain 1
We Own The Night - Instant Gratification
And Backwards Pumpkin Song - Downtown Battle Mountain 1
Surprise I'm from Cuba Everyone Has one Brain - Downtown Battle Mountain
Me and Zoloft get along just fine - Deathstar
And Acceptance Speech from Acceptance Speech
Edit: I added Me and Zoloft get along just fine and Acceptance Speech and Surprise I'm from Cuba
Acceptance Speech is the first DGD song I ever heard so when I heard "Who drains the blood from my head" I almost had a stroke god damn I love this band
That ending feels like a farewell... i sure as hell hope not.
Tilian confirmed that while each of their songs is a (will) swan song in its own right, this is not the end for DGD, not by far.
lllg17 ok, good to hear
its a call back to the past.
i agree, the entire album strikes a nostalgic tone
They are currently recording (maybe finished?) a new album
The end of this song is peak tilian
yeaaa DGD fan de mexico
RUclips algorithm did me well on this one. 10/10
I'm getting heavy Plini vibes from this track
That “Me and Zoloft Get Along Just Fine” callback! 💜
Damn yo, when this first came out I really thought this was the last song ever. And that would've been fine. Glad they're still with us, but I'd be surprised if they ever make another song as significant as this
everything about this screams amazing
Best song on the album, maybe best DGD song ever.
Best pre work out song ever. Dec 2022 still playing this song every workout. F%^king favorite
Ya man. 1:35-1:50 is the build up. 3:55-4:58 is the payoff. I listen to the last minute of this song whenever I want to push through that last set.
Who squats these weights, I DO I DO
Hit PR today because of this song. +20lbs on bench press. Couldnt be happier.
yea bro LIFTIN AMIRIET
the best in the album
I really hope they make a music video of this
Morgan Karma agreed
Okay this might be the best album. How can you make 8 PERFECT albums??? How is that even possible?
But hopefully not the last. I'm hoping they make it to 10 perfect albums
Afterburner was meh but Jackpot Juicer felt like they got back on course.
Overrrrr thissss by nowwww
Patrick Mella yee
Everyone in this band deserves recognition..all talented! But damn Will Swan never disappoints
Outro:

What excuses do you make?
[Repeat repeat]
We Own the Night
[Repeat repeat]
[Our history]
For one good note
Well don’t it feel good?
You got what you paid for
They played this live last night for the first time live in their encore. Was great - loved hearing Andrew!
Andrew wells = pseudo Johnny Craig feature. Absolutely sick either way. Best ending to this album and best song on it. i saw DGD in philly live two days ago and Andrew was on tour, im pretty sure. so i wouldnt be surprised if they play this song now that the album released.
Daniel Mistry I swear, I thought it was him for a second but then I realized it was Andrew lol
Can't wait to see Andrew pull this off live.
I really feel like this was them writing a Jonny Craig-esque song and handing the vocals off to Tillian and Andrew. This song literally took me back to riding around my jeep, smoking pinners, back in 10th grade.
she/he/me that would've been really cool man since they had Kurt on Shelf Life
lol Andrew Well's has a much better voice then JONNY Craig.
So many songs in one day.
When I noticed the album was up, I immediately went here. I can't wait for the concert next week!
Shadow Wilson I’m gonna see them next week too at the Agora Theater in Cleveland, OH!
Oh shit boys me too
Instantly became one of my favorite DGD songs
Even tho I’ve listened to this album from the leak I was still excited for the actual release date anyone else?
HaRdCoRe 466 yeah bro
HaRdCoRe 466 already released on Spotify
same
HaRdCoRe 466 Nope, you're the only one.
Lol no shit
