As much as I love DGD, they have strong AOTY competition with Capstan, Limbs, Shields, and if they release their album this year, Invent, Animate.

Shane Crampton None of those bands have as many monthly listeners as DGD on Spotify or Apple Music lmao 😂. They’re way off DGD’s radar. Also Invent, Animate’s lead singer left the band so let I,A’s struggle begin because that ex-vocalist was talented and will be hard to replace
Bengal Music uhhhhh I love DGD as much as the next guy but when did amount of listeners on a streaming service = quality of the music? Does this mean that Cardi B makes better music than DGD? 😂😂😂 I have no doubts this album is gonna blow my mind, I was just stating that DGD isn’t going to be the only ones releasing an insane album this year, and that they have more competition than usual for my personal album of the year.
Also to clarify the I,A statement, I’m sure they’re doing just fine lol. Especially since Trey posted a picture on Instagram that showed two folders titled “lp3 instrumental” and “LP3”, which means that they do have a new vocalist + that they should be dropping music/revealing him sometime soon. Will he live up to Ben’s standards? That’s definitely a possibility, and he may even be better than him. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Tillian's voice is sounding great on this album. May just be years of going hard on his vocal chords, but I'm loving this gruff grungy sound he's got.
TheRubbaRazza yeah somehow he sounds better now, his live performances are better than ever.
Tilian sounded more like this in Tides of Man. Check that band out if you like his vocals, and especially if you don’t like Mess (though I do).
Not liking Jon Mess is a sin. But that's funny you say that after I commented, that "Empire Theory" song played in my head and I realized he used to sound like this more. ET is one of my favorite ToM song.
Apparently he recorded this song and a few others while recording from a flu or something and he liked how his 'sick' vocals sounded and kept them in the album ha
Honestly when I first got into DGD a few years ago I didn't like Jon Mess's screaming, but now years later I see how it works. The throat shredding screaming shouldn't work, but it just does somehow, in my opinion.

@Booraad Coheed has been my favorite band since I was a kid, but I have never considered them to be part of this "scene" or really any "scene". Coheed came out in the 90s as Shabutie. They're not in the same group as DGD.

in my opinion this is the best song of the three that they have released. this is the sound of the DGD that I found so iconical (I haven't heard anything like this before) the combination of the Mess voice with the harmonic of the instrumental and the way Tillian's voice sounds along the music is incredible I really love the way that this sounds sincerely

One of the most consistent bands of the genre. Them and Silverstein are pretty much tied for number of albums with all of them being amazing and very consistent in sound in the post hardcore genre.

Call it an unpopular opinion, but will's rapping wasn't that good, mainly lyrically. He did, however, know how to make it work with the music, which makes sense considering he wrote the main riff for that part.

This is probably one of their best songs yet, like holy fuck the instrumentals are amazing.
Gotta be honest, this song was REALLY polarizing to me at first, I was in love with certain parts but questioned others. Call it what you will, but with every subsequent listen, the cohesion really settled for me and it's currently my FAV DGD song. That's actually sayin' somethin!!

Every time I play this song I like it more. It's got so much depth, my god.
And the contrast between the change-up in the middle (1:48) and one at the end (3:08) is just freaken incredible. Blows my mind how differently each of those two parts take a turn but they each give me chills in a different way. So great! Just found DGD but I've been listening nonstop.
