Thanks for your knowledge. My unit has worked fine since September 2015. Unfortunately, the box is struggling to power on in 2021. The light blinks red and then I have to wait an hour or longer for green light! Maybe I need to update the firmware?
Well at this point you may have some sort of hardware problem but you don't have anything to lose by trying the firmware update, you never know, it might fix it up. Great video thanks. Did the update include a fix to switch military time to standard time and time zone issues? Seems my new unit is an hour ahead which is going to make recording things a pain.
Great video! Have any idea why the 180STB won't record more than two hours? Timeshift set at 4GB, USB drive 64GB and recording in one hour segments. Info button shows PLENTY of storage space. Thanks so much! The Sailor.
The UK market is much different than the American market. I would email Mediasonic support here support@mediasonicusa.com and see if they have an answer. I did note in my search for info that Amazon did sell the unit in the UK. Thanks.
now I got to ask you was the upgrade worth it? what was supposed to be improved? what did you notice was better if anything? As you know there is risk in firmware upgrades!
There is a small risk of failure if it does not go correctly but it is minimal if you follow my instructions. If the power were to go out during the flash it would certainly brick the unit as well as if you have a faulty USB device (do a FULL FAT32 format). I have noticed that the unit is a little smoother in transitioning from screen to screen and functions. I read that the firmware upgrade also fixed bugs on "bad frequency", date and conflict events but I have not had the unit long enough to experience those issues. Now that the firmware is updated I know I will not. For me it was worth it upgrade as I now know I am running the latest most bug free version. I do wonder if media sonic support will send me further updates in the future as they do now know my serial number, version and email address. Thanks.

Richard something strange happened. The box said the unit was a V10 but the info system screen said V3. I was sent 2 zip file and they turned out to be kodi 7.1 installs. Kodi is for streaming not ota. I have a bad feeling about this.
Don't do it. I suspect you were shipped a returned unit. Some one bought it traded it out with their old unit and sent it back in the new box for the refund. Can you send it back to your supplier?

Just got one. Haven't did this yet but turn off DST and then my time and date was correct (except 24hr time which is ok for me mostly)

Now it's saying USB flash drive not good for the recording purposes..best is external HD..

will it work on samsung tv usb as firmware update or will if mess up the tv?
You have to get your firmware update from samsung.
