Did my first 2 miles in these today and they are like night and day compared to the Nimbus. They were a pleasure to run in. Very impressed thus far. And it did have some response to them
if you have flat feet they aren't the best. Nimbus is for high arch.... I wore them not knowing this and I would get nerve cramps really bad. It's just proof that it's not just about shoe but also foot type. I love Nimbus -- don't get me wrong it's just wrong for me. @q20a08
I find it hard to find reviews in youtube how well these stability shoes really improve stabilty for those with flat feet, overpronators, and such. So I’ll give my own feedback as someone with flat feet and an overpronator. I chose the Kayano 30s from all the stability shoes out there I watched from RUclips mainly cause of availability. Also to try how much stability shoes would help me with running. Note that I’m just a beginner runner so I mostly run short distances at slow paces. I came from running with Nike Pegasus 37s which is a neutral shoe and my experience with it was painful. I run slow paces for around 3km to 5km for training and improving my distance. With the pegasus, in the first 1km to 1.5km I would usually feel pain in my sole in diff areas such as the arch and forefoot. The pain would be gone after running for a certain amount of time. Then after my runs i would feel pain in my knees. It also noticeable that my ankles aren’t aligned even just walking with the pegasus. With the Kayano 30s, most, if not all of these issues were solved. I don’t feel pain anymore at the sole of my feet all throughout my run. Less pain in my knees and legs after the runs. The 30s are my first Kayanos and first stability shoe so idk how it compares to other stability shoes. The support it gives is very natural. It doesn’t really have a restrictive or stiff feeling in the arch or other areas of the feet. The sole feels soft and a little bouncy. Despite the sole being soft i think the tech with the sole does its job properly. The sole is still firm enough to give proper support to the whole feet when running. I have wide feet because of my flat arch but my feet are more on the slim side. I don’t have any issues with the upper of the 30s. Also no issues with the toe area. Im in a tropical country so it’s mostly hot and humid but the ventilation feels fine to me, probably because I haven’t used anything better. Overall I like the Kayano 30s because it gives me the stability that I was looking for with a stability shoe. It helped me a lot and I really enjoy running with it.
100 miles into the Tempus as a slow, recovery, long run shoe and got used to it after 30 or 40 miles. Really like it. Can happily pick up the lick to around marathon pace without any bother 👍👍👍👍👍
Bought these today. 16K recovery run after a 10K road race today. I have 10 shoes in my rotation. This will be my slow long run + easy shoe + recovery. Will basically turn into my daily, will use my super shoes for workouts.
I used to use a Kayano but moved to Altra, and now, I will never settle for a toe box that squeezes my toes together unnecessarily. Waiting for the rest of the companies to catch up and widen the toe box!
I used to enjoy Altra for the same reason. After discovering Topo I'll never go back to Altra. Give them a chance the next time you're in the market for a new pair of shoes.
Great review, thanks guys. I wonder if Mike is more sensitive to medial posting hence the discomfort? As a long-term Kayano user I’m wary of buying this 30. I am an overpronator (by 13 degrees) and need the correction that previous iterations offered. I’m wondering if this direction by Asics to appeal to a broader base of runners is going to alienate those who need biomechanical support from the first step of a run. As such, I’ve moved over to Brooks Adrenaline and Mizuno Wave Inspire which offer a guide rail system. Maybe the 30 does the job, but at £180 I don’t know if I’m willing to risk it when the likes of Brooks continue to improve the Adrenaline but also stick to a tried and tested method of correction for overpronators (and at a much lower price point).
Kayano gel 30 my first and the only running shoes for now, just started running a month ago. At first I feel little pain at heel, i dont now if it because untrained running form or else, but I dont feel it anymore. Im really enjoy it now
I just got these and have worn them once, I also had the heel pain issue and was wondering if maybe the shoe wasn’t for me. Glad to hear it wears off though! I agree it’s probably untrained form or just not being used to proper gait being that I have flat feet and have never used a supportive shoe. Gonna keep using them and hopefully the heel discomfort goes away for me too!
New runner here too and also felt the heel on my first use, is like the shoe forces you to land on your heel or something. Is getting better overtime though
I still have not decided if I will go with this Gel-Kayano 30 or a more nimble GT 2000 12 ( would replace my beloved Kayano Lite 3 )to replace my extremely used Gel-Kayano 29. Would be cool to have this new Kayano, but it would be pretty much like my Gel-Nimbus 25 ( that I got !) with more stability and maybe with a bit more bounce/nimbly. Hard decisions, since we got so many great options available !
I went in yesterday for my gait analysis and it wasn’t helpful they advised on the nimbus but my right food was pronated and flat but these kayanos were perfect for flat feet
I've got about 500 miles on mine and I think they might be getting close to done at this point (they have been a great shoe). How many miles are people getting out of these?
It helps you run more than what you usually run with normal shoes. These shoes do take the pressure and distributes the weight so yes, you can run for more distance than other shoe
I purchased the Kayano 30 and I got ripped off . Only 9 months of use just walking and the front part came apart. They did not want to change it. Very Disappointed such an expensive sneaker

As heavy runner/walker (I'm 101kg and over 6ft) should I trust my Souconeys to last 300 miles? I've done about 260m in them so far and the treads are looking slightly worn but not sure if I need to change just yet?
If you're not sure you could get a second pair to rotate with so that the next pair are almost ready to go when those are done. If your seeing the sole creasing, wear on the sole (some shoe brands have soles that have wear lines), or the shoes no longer look straight when beside each other. It's time to get new as you want to enjoy your runs. I've had a huge difference in time for different shoes (my onclouds vista lasted 200 miles and my sauconys peregrines did 1000 miles before being retired, I don't recommend that though).
DISAPPOINTED with the Asics Gel Kayano 30 I've been a loyal user of Asics Gel Kayano series for years, but my recent experience with the Gel Kayano 30 left me utterly disappointed. On the day I received the product, I embarked on a 10km run and noticed severe blistering on the tips of my middle toes and the inner side of my heel. I decided to give it another shot after a 5-day break once my feet healed, but unfortunately, the same issue persisted during another 10km run. It's quite a letdown especially considering the hefty price tag of 5499 TL attached to this pair, which is supposed to represent its high standards. I genuinely hope Asics takes a hard look at customer feedback and prioritizes satisfaction to match the high financial expectation set by their pricing. The comfort and stability that were the hallmark of the previous models seem to be lacking in this latest iteration.
It's sad how Asics is evolving into looking just like any other modern running shoe... so much blown rubber at the bottom it looks so boring like the typical Nike. They've made Kayano Lite the main model... they should make new line for the last Kayano design.

Which Nimbus?

I found these to be quite clunky and offering nothing in the way of response. My feet did feel cushioned and hugged and though.
Grow a pair dude

Thank you, that was a very helpful review. How is the kayano after 6 months of use?
Whats the point in reviewing a stability shoe, without an overpronator in the testgroup..
Ohhh so sad 😢for you! I have a spade to get the sand out of your VAG 🎉 if you need!!
Ok VAG boy 😢
These have changed so much, I prefer the old style

Agree overpronator to review please

Depends on the cushioning level. GT2000 12 is going to be amazing for many.
These are very similar to Kayano Lite in my opinion. Just a little more responsive.

I bought these off Amazon and they killed my feet. I was hurting in 30 minutes. I really dont understand it.
Buying from amazon is more likely you will be buying a fake pair of shoes.

Wow, this video is so repetitive. It’s about 5 minutes of content stretched out to 20 minutes
Less shoe than previous models and for more money. Less and less material in each ‘update’.
