- In the last month, I’ve been taking the Superblast for long runs, tempo runs, and even a marathon. This shoe has been one of my favorite speedy long run shoes, and it’s time to talk about after 100 miles. And yes we’ll also talk about the price.

disclosures: ASICS sent me these shoes to review, so I did not have to pay for them. I was also included as part of the promotional materials for this shoe. And I’ve also done a lot of work previously for ASICS. However, no one has paid me to use this shoe or race in this shoe.
Adidas: I bought the Adidas shoes mentioned in this video.
Saucony: I bought the Saucony shoes mentioned in this video.
New Balance: I recently ran New York City Marathon on the New Balance bib. New Balance provided training gear, shoes, and travel and boarding expenses for that trip.
Hoka: Hoka provided the Carbon X3 mentioned in this video. I bought my Rocket X that I mention in this video. I have worked on a couple of event with Hoka in the past, most recently for a Bondi launch event in San Luis Obispo, California, in collaboration with Running Warehouse.
Nike: It’s been a while since Nike and I have talked. But, we used to do a lot of work together. They provided a 2018 Chicago Marathon bib for me, and in 2019, they not only provided a 2019 Chicago Marathon bib, but they also provided coaching, training gear, shoes, and travel accommodations for the 2019 Chicago Marathon.
I purchased the launch colorway of the Next % v1 that I mention in this video. Nike provided a pink Next % v1. I bought the alphafly v1 that I mention in this video. I have not tested or received any Next %2 or Alphafly 2.

When you have a shared bank account with your wife and come home with another fresh set of kicks: "This is a pair of shoes I bought with MY OWN money..."
my wife's eyebrows always raise whenever she hears me do a disclosure
Secret separate shoe account and a second side line to pay for the addition.
Bro, I subscribed with the Pegasus 36 video, since that, all your videos touch that special spot between emotions and inspiration like NOBODY ELSE. All your marathon vids make me cry. Thanks for that!
Value is different for each person- If it is that unicorn shoe and just works really well for someone that gets you out the door and keeps you excited about running without issues then price is worth it I think, regardless of what technology or the lack of it.
I only have 20 miles in superblast and they are growing on me - they are expensive but so far I don’t feel I wasted money as I think I will be grabbing and using these much more often than my other similar priced plated shoes.
Mike, surprised you didn't mention the Triumph 20 as companion to the Pro?After watching your review of the Prime X Strung and Prime X have been trying to snag a shoe in my size... thinking it may be the unicorn long run shoe 👟
hands down the best review of the superblast, love the format comparing use cases with the competitors, for me especially with the SC trainer as I love it for long runs.
Thanks Mike, these are helpful & very well produced. Shoe Co's are collectively mezmerizing us into paying more & more, so I appreciate that you appreciate that almost all of us have a budget and we try and get the best benefit to our spending and joy of running & racing, thanks again.
This is the type of content that makes you the best in "the game". Refreshingly transparent and with great knowledge. I've been following pretty much all the big running related vlogs recent years and your channel is imo the only one that's been consistent in terms of quality. Really like the way you approach the running industry and how you operate between the consumers and the brands.
Appreciate your work sir! 🙏
Thank you 🙏
the commitment to journalistic integrity and stone-cold realism with which you approach running shoe comparisons is on another level 😮 keep up the good work Ko!!
I appreciate that. 🙏
I won’t claim to be a journalist, but I strive to navigate the space in a way that feels right to me. And even if I fly too close to the sun, I’ll always let you all know what’s up.
I agree, thank you!
I bought a pair of Superblast at the very first morning that Asics put them on the shelf. First of all, I'm satisfied with Superblast. I have ran 3 times with Superblast, 6k easy run, 15k distance run and 30min treadmill run. Superblast is quite comfortable and stable when going up and down, lightweight and breathable. However, I'm afraid it's not quite friendly for people with narrow feet and low instep, like me, I'll recommend thick socks to them. Another surprise to me is that I got a little injury and haven't run more than 10km for about 2 months. I ran 15km on Sunday but I didn't feel uncomfortable or tiredness on Monday.
Thanks for the helpful review! Based on my conversations (in Tokyo, where Superblast has yet to be released), a lot of people who already have Novablast 3 seem to be wondering if the Superblast is different enough to add to rotation, or if this is more like an ~USD 80 upgrade that can help perform faster and maybe longer (?). Personally, I am considering getting one of them initially for longer, easy/slow runs, and it sounds like the Novablasts would be a better fit. Anyway, just my “2 yen” and appreciate the insight!
really appreciate your effort in comparing those shoes. great work!
Next Sunday is my birthday 🎂 I will be buying this Asics Superblast and wear them in my first race 🙃🥰🤩
Thank you for all your content and inspiration 🙏🏻

Loved this review ! Great extended disclosures 😋…
But more important the honest and balanced review including comparison ! 💪🏻 rocking ! Wish u always good health .
I'm glad someone appreciates the disclosures
@@kofuzi :P
Great review as always. It would be fair to mention Adidas sales. They regularly have 30-40% off almost everything. I regret not picking up the Prime X Strung for $140 in early December.
I have been watching many of your videos. I love how you try to be as honest as possible regarding a possible biased perception. And then when you do a review, I can see an honest attempt at being as unbiased as possible. Keep up the good work.
Thank you
Nice overview and I agree the price would be nicer at sub-200, but three cheers for inflation 👎. I've been super impressed with the Novablast 3 and the Metaspeed Edge, mashing the two together sounds amazing. Think I'll wait for spring and then get the Superblast as a nice birthday present!
Wow this was one year ago and is still incredibly helpful. Looking for some new long run shoes soon and this was by far the most helpful video I've watched so far
Have you picked any shoes in your mind?
Shoes are getting more expensive these days and as consumers we hate that. However I dont know why people are complaining and pointing fingers at you for sharing informative videos. I'm a big fan of you and i really like your honest reviews. It doesnt mean i always agree with you but in most cases I do. Definitely superblast is expensive but who knows it will be on sale just like prime x strung soon after. So keep up the good work and dont get too irrated from others comments especially among the jealous ones
Great video Cuz and love the “Overpriced “ part to really make sense between brands on a similar level shoe. 🤜🏾🤛🏻!
I usually dislike talking about price (prices changes all the time, and different regions can have wildly different pricing and availability). but based on the comments in the first Superblast video I made, I felt like it really needed to be addressed.
Seriously great review .. all the questions I had were answered. Thank you Ko!!!!
thanks for watching!
Your disclosures are always welcome and I appreciate the extra details of this one. We appreciate how you attempt to be transparent in the midst of a fairly complicated (but also amazing) relationship with a company.
Completely agree!
This was a great review
From what I understand the FTC has tried to make requirements for social media influencers to disclose this information. I don’t know what the consequences are really, but still Kofuzi is one of the good ones. There is another popular running RUclipsr who puts no disclosures at all, for example.
I think it would be safe to assume that when social media influencers talk about a product without any disclosures, they are being compensated (or comp’d the product at a minimum).
After a lot of back and forth I've just picked the superblast up for £160 from kellarsports. I was considering the prime x strung which I could of got for £150. I'm hoping not having a plate will be a game changer for me as my feet do fatigue on longer runs. But finding the superblast at £160 was the deciding factor as I wouldn't of paid the £220 it is at most places. Thanks for the review on helping me with my choice.
As I commented on one of Emily's reviews, we are approaching the point where $200 will be the standard for a serious running shoe. And that's nuts.
When/if that becomes the standard, I will perpetually be buying year old models of shoes when new models come out. No way I would pay $220 for this shoe.
I agree. I am a new runner and am struggling to keep up with the latest and greatest! Is there a ceiling in sight?
even before everything else in the world starting getting more expensive, running shoes were already increasing in prices. I'm not sure where this goes.
@@kofuzi I've been out of the loop. Didn't know there's $300 shoes now with the adidas prime x. Last year's models are still cheap at least.
At least there's no problem at all finding great running shoes at 30-50% off. But I agree the prices are crazy!
This is why we love you … honest and transparent and very insightful 👊 it’s the wrong price 100% 🤦♂️ great review as always I’m loving it after a friend of mine told me how to use it 😜
Great video and appreciate the cost comparisons across brands. Regarding the Nike Tempo Next%, I’m probably in the minority that liked this shoe. After all the early poor reviews I was skeptical and only gave them a try while killing time at a Nike store. I would argue don’t knock them until you’ve actually given them an honest try.
that's definitely good advice. and yet, I can't get myself to try them
This is a brilliant and original way to do a shoe comparison. You’ve managed to not make simple price the focus but rather used it as a unique way to avoid “just another shoe comparison” 😊I did try the SuperBlast at the CIM Expo and was impressed. I already have the Edge+ which I enjoyed for the HM relay, and have the Saucony Pro3 in a box with BOS in mind. If I bought the SuperBlast I’d be wanting to use it on my LR’s-which are going to include MP miles. I’m a midfoot striker (not as forward as you) but get wear in the same rear lateral spots first. I’m sure I heel strike when tired. Wondering if these would be good for this use case. About to break out my 1st NovaBlast ever, v.3. BTW, aren’t the laces on the SuperBlast instantly long? Also, did the “scratchy” upper material fray your socks?
Very good review…everything I wanted to know…thank you!👊
thanks for the feedback!
Hmm... I bought a pair of Next % 2 for USD 137 couple months ago and was so super happy. Since then, I’ve decided to only buy discounted running shoes going forward. Don’t care who makes them. No more shoes over 200 bucks for me.
I like the “ is it overpriced” section of the video. Great vid KO
I just want to be a game show host
I agree - Great review. Was using the 1st and 2nd versions of the Invincible Run but the 3rd version did not work for me and just got these for $170.
Great review. I just did the Dublin marathon in them. If you want a really fast AND comfortable shoe that will not destroy your calves and achilles - then I recommend them. what is most noticeable in them is that you recover from your long runs so much quicker and therefore you can train harder in the week. Dont let the price put you off as the gains outweigh it.
Have your tried the Asics metaspeed sky+ I'm torn between the 2. As I'm a relatively new runner. Had my first half marathon past sunday
Maybe a bit late but i own the metaspeed edge paris and superblast and i use edge for speedwork/race day and superblast for everything else, the superblast is amazing even for easy pace
@@Xtratwink i got the superblast a month ago! Great shoes!! I also got the adios pro 3 instead of the metaspeed!
I recently run a half on the Boston 11 because I use to run my long runs in them. I regret that decision since at my half marathon pace, the Boston 11 are HARD. I'm looking at other brands outside the Adidas' and the Nikes. Asics is definitely a brand that I want to try more, I currently only own the Novablast 3 which I've enjoyed so dar. I might give Superblast a try for my next half or perhaps the MetaSpeeds
nice review and comparisons, i wish you would also compare it against the Novablast 3 though.
Just bought my first pair Kofuzi, I'm in the lucky position to be able to buy the shoes I want and, with my running club discount, got these for £176 in the UK. Excited to try them out and use them as a companion to my (many) carbon plated race shoes!
I love my Adidas prime x strung, it's my daily commuter running to work and back. It just makes running easy. Stairs, overpass, underpass, frost, rain, wet leaves, no problem.
If only they had one available in multiple sizes 🙄... cannot wait to try it...bought it once but need to size down one entire size
Interesting way to compare - I cant make the comparison but I have loved the SC trainer (probably my favorite shoe of 2022) I find myself reaching for it all the time so its hard for me to feel that anything could make it feel overpriced especially compared to a $220 shoe. Howevere I find myself often feeling similar to you on reviews so I may have to give this a go. I am curious if you saw Ginger Runner's comparison between the Superblast and the Novablast 3 as well
Love this review so much, dude! I can’t think of a better way to spend 18 minutes to say a shoe is overpriced. Maybe. Great points all around. I’ve enjoyed the Speed 3 and Carbon X2 this year. Maybe try ASICS for Grandma’s next summer…
In my defense, the first half of the video is a 100 mile review that does not mention price once (except obliquely to say that the upper isn’t my favorite given the price).
And the first thing that I say when I get to pricing is that I think it should be about 11 or 12% cheaper.
So it didn’t exactly take me 18 minutes to make my point
@@kofuzi 11-12% cheaper is only a tad over half the discount I get from Milestone Running in SD. I can’t emphasize enough what loyalty to an independent running store can earn.
You can let Adidas know I bought the Takumi Sen 8 after watching your most recent video on it. It’s super weird they don’t treat you nicely!
I think the comparison to the Vaporfly is spot on. I've been lucky to consistently find the next % for the $175 price point in my size over the last year. At that value, I'd stick with the Vaporfly. BUT. If the Superblast was discounted to $175, or even $180 I would probably consider it.
I do love the fact that it does not have a plate. My belief is this shoe is going to challenge other companies with their future designs and modifications. 😎
Really good video and enjoyed your thoughts and honesty! Thank you for it!
Great vid !
hey kofuzi! big fan of yours :) question, you mentioned you're generally a size 9. what's your size in Superblast and how does it compare to Vaporfly?
Bought mine and will arrive today, can’t wait to try them. AND also uses Nike Winflo 7 for the last 2 yrs 😂 But it has given me some PR so yeah. 5km at 23:46 and 10k at 51:51. I haven’t had any long runs. All short distances and will try a 15km easy run tomorrow evening 😊
In my rotation for a year now (320+ miles) and feels like there’s a few miles left in them. Ordered my 2nd pair, cheers to another year.
I love Hoka Carbon x3! I prefer them when I run 21km, tempo running. My personal record (I am 49 years old) is one hour and 34 minutes, with Hoka Carbon x3. What I actually wanted to say is the price of Hoka Carbon x3, here in Germany, I paid 90 euros from SportScheck. I'm a customer and I got some discounts.
Hey! Was wondering if you had any insight as to how the Superblast might be for those suffering from back pain/prone to lower back disc herniation.
Brother!! Amazing videos!
Glad you’re enjoying them!
G.O.A.T THIS IS THE BEST RUNNING SHOES IN THE WORLD ASICS YOU ARE CROWN THE KING FOR 2023 CHEERS!!!
I agree with all but the SC Trainer as 180 felt like the most appropriate price for this shoe, maybe 185 just like the Nb’s. I got my SC Trainers on BF for 50% at my local running store, and obviously for $90, it can’t really be beat but even at full price if I already have a race day shoe, the Superblast doesn’t make much sense for the price.
I have both Prime X Strung and now the SuperBlast. One comparison you didn't mention was the Strung has carbon rods, while the SuperBlast doesn't. I am an Asics guy, so shelled out for SuperBlast.
I like it for a long run shoe. I wouldn't use it for anything else. Not a race shoe for me. I think if Asics priced it at $200 or below and sold it (Asics marketing has usually sucked, and they have improved, although the intro of this shoe wasn't great). Thanks for the comparisons. A very good and detailed video as always. I appreciate your honesty.
I also didn't mention that the Prime X Strung also has a heel plate or a second layer of carbon in the energy blades. The point is not the tech but the result of the tech. But I think you've reached the result that I think I lot of people who like racing with carbon would reach.
I'm eager to know what the running community makes of these new marathon trainers. Sometimes I want to run distances not too far off of the half marathon mark, but find that a daily trainer tends to be a little uncomfortable after around 15K. However, with raceday shoes, I feel you need to be on your toes so to speak, in order to feel the comfort that they provide at their intended pace, and sometimes you can run yourself out of that distance and end up calling it short. Would you say these new marathon trainers are a good balance between the two? A must have?
@@scottwoodcock2779 I too tend to feel it around 12 miles and more on LR’s when I don’t have enough support or cushion in a shoe. However, re: being on your toes, we older runners who exert the same effort but at a slower pace are not running on our toes-rather (ideally) midfoot, but 99.9% of runners do heel strike when they’re tired and/or running slow enough. Even the Kenyans. Likewise in the late miles of a marathon for we mortals. I’d love to know if the SuperBlast is better or worse for this scenario of LR’s at least, compared to say my NB 1080’s or the NovaBlast 3. Feedback welcome
What is the best between the Prime X and the Superblast for long runs with blocks at MP or even faster?
Nice review and comparisons. I’m glad you’re up front about the brands.
Unpopular opinion: I think sauconys lineup is overpriced (perhaps most brands). As for the ASICS superblast, it looks great. I’m still in the camp that asks does one really need a $200+ trainer when something like the ASICS noosa tri 14 works just as well for $130. Sure, the noosa doesn’t have the same foam, but I still can run 20 miles in it and the next day 11 miles in a different shoe. The new foams are great, but they are no substitute for strength training, decent diet, training, and sleep.
If you get 700+ miles in this shoe then $220 doesn’t seem so bad.
Or Glideride. Lots of alternatives even within Asics lineup. Or SC Trainer if softer Fuelcell foam works for you. I’m guessing Kofuzi has a healthy relationship with Asics since he’s about the only reviewer who goes as far as making price justification videos for them.
Hi Kofuzi,
Thanks for all the work you do!
Could I ask for your opinion?
A. what do you think about the quality of removable footbed/insole of Superblast? I think they are of poor quality. In my case the Superblast text on the removable footbed, was worn out after 5 miles. all small white pieces in the shoe. Footbed itself also has light wear after 5 miles. Never experienced this with other top brands from US or EU.
B. I would like to replace them. any advice?
Thanks,
I found an Alphafly at a Nike outlet on the refurb rack. The outsole had zero wear on it and there was a minimal scuff on the side. It was the only one on the rack and it was in my size for only $83. I never had an easier decision in my life on whether or not to buy a pair of shoes
Sorry, @kofuzi doesn't care about Nike anymore, he doesn't even compare these to new versions of Nike shoes.
@@aviswabharat most in the industry hate Nike. Nike treats people like garbage including their retailers which is a big part of why very few Run Shops do well with Nike. Also race shoes aside, Nike is trash.
@@davidrosenthal5795 I am not trying to defend or promote nike here. I do not know about retailer treatment but as a consumer, Nike has an amazing return policy, which is good in enough for me. As per non-race shoe, Nike has very good shoes aprt from the racers, like peg39 or the invincibles.
@@aviswabharat he literally compared the shoes to the Nikes 😂
@@aviswabharat i dont understand how he doesnt like nike. He should have a disclosure on his bias
Great video made it all the way ! I think I will skip this shoe however my shoe of the year fall in this category I think. The Puma Deviate nitro 2
thanks for watching!
The SC Trainer v2 looks like it will be a much more versatile shoe so I'm looking forward to seeing comparisons between that and the Superblast.
what I hope from the SC Trainer 2 is that if feels more cushioned in the forefoot
@@kofuzi As a forefoot striker, you probably notice that a lot.
I already have novablast 4. Is that worth to buy superblast?? What do you think? Wanna hear your opinion. Very great review BTW, Thanks!
Great job on video
Thank you for the feedback
how would you compare the sizing against the glideride 3? I found the gliderides to run a bit shorter than I would have liked. thanks!
Kofuzi never misses, thank you for another great review, I will definitely consider these shoes as a next everyday trainer.
thank you for the support
Thanks for sharing, dude! But yeah these shoes getting expensive..
thx a lot! do u think vapor fly 2 r better than the superblast? (not considering the price). i got the superblast and enjoying them a lot for running and marathon, but never tried vapor fly 2 and wondering if they might be better.. should i try them?
Excellent content! Looking forward to get the Superblast - Greetings from Argentina 👋
I am looking for a marathon long run workouts. Especially long runs with blocks at marathon but also half marathon and faster for some km....will the superblast be the best choice? I am keen on them but maybe the prime X would be better?
I usually love Asics and hate Adidas shoes though....
Hard price comparison when paying full price which shoe reviewers have to do to stay ahead of the game( not run testers though). $180 for prime x is a bargain (my price). Like the price/value comparisons. Do more of these please.
i try them in store today and they seem very good
I really enjoyed the use case price analysis, it was something that I have not seen before. I personally think all the shoes you compared are overpriced but that's just my cheap side talking.
there's certainly an argument to be made for that (that they may be all overpriced, not that you are cheap)
@@kofuzi My problem may be that my first pair of Addias I bought was in 1971 for I think $17 and the boxes were still in German.
The Novablast 3 has set an extremely high bar for me, I’m having a hard time imagining myself running in anything else right now to be honest. It’s just so versatile and comfortable - I own 4 pairs, got my wife 2 pairs and even got my son a pair (very fortunate ASICS has such a great Veterans Discount)!
Thank you for your honest review, as always, Mike.
I bought a kids version for my older daughter, but that version does not have FF Blast + (or any version of flytefoam, unfortunately)
Hi Ko. I previously run half marathon in Novablast 2 and Hoka Carbon X3. This year i plan to make my full marathon debut. I'm a slow runner, i do a run walk alternately...so my target time is between 5 to 6 hours. I'm considering Superblast / SC Trainer / Prime X Strung right now. I plan to do long run training and race in the same shoe. Let's just say price is not the problem but i can only buy one. Would love to hear some advise from you. Thanks 😁
Was just on vacation in Japan and picked up a pair from Asics flagship store in Tokyo for 20,000 JPY ($142 USD) so I’m pretty excited to start running in these.
Nice souvenir
Prime X is gonna last forever. I have 125 miles on one of my pairs and you can barely tell they have been run in. $150 for the Strung version for me was the best buy I got in 2022. PS My daughter bought me a pair of the Zoom Fly 5 at the Nike outlet for $41US. She got ripped off! 🤣
I have had mine for 6 months. Running once or twice a week. They feel great. I normally burn shoes out where they feel spongy after a few months. They are worth twice as much.
I just might have to try the Superblast
Hello Kofuzi, firstly i wud like to extend my greetings from India.Have been watching your videos and have to confide that your contents motivate me for a healthier Lifestyle. Its been 3 days since i have started running again after more than a year as i went through 2 very bad ligament tear experiences .I have gained weight and havelow confidence in myself,if i can ever run for a stretch of 30 minutes continuously. But still then i want to try again and would like to ask you which shoe should i get for my runs?? My ankle still hurts a bit sometimes but i can't make this an excuse anymore. Please advice- Kaling Tamut, Arunachal Pradesh.
Hi mate I've entered my first marathon in oct and aiming for 3.20, a need sum new shoes my novablast 3s just hit 700miles so need sum new ones, i was gona order a race shoe and a daily but tbh i cant afford it, Do you fink this would be the perfect shoe for me to train in daily and run the marrathon.
If not do you recommend something else
Cheers
$220 seems fair considering you could buy the Novablast 3 and Glideride 3 to do the same type workouts and they would cost $290 combined.
I love the Prime X (aside from almost rolling my ankel from time to time haha) - But they are pretty much at the end of thier life. Would you recommend the Superblast as a replacement? Or something else? I feel like a need the Prime X with a wider base lol
Been a die hard vaporfly 2, but I have fallen in love with the Superblast. Rolls great, toenails are doing much better, and always surprised with my pace.
But is not a legal stack why get used to it !
@Dansar57 Cause I run for fun, and love shoes.
LOL, your shoe comparison was ridiculous but also funny. How many shoes do we have without any plate priced north of 200$? „My wife is the most beautifull girl in the World, Gisele Bündchen? Nah, any Miss World? Nope, nobody comes close to my wife“
BTW love your energy level 💕
thank you, I think?
Fully agree with your assessment
and i, yours
In Thailand, I got a super blast around 156$ after discount. So I think after I watch your video its kind of make sense to run in super blast 💥
nice
Alphafly v1 is a great value indeed if you can find it. Endorphin Speed v2 also merits consideration for value.
Thankfully I bought a second pair of the AF1. My first pair is my go to for tempos and intervals. 130 miles going strong. While the other one has 20 miles!
Nova blast 2 is my favorite shoe ever I love it and I have bought 3 of them
Have you tried version 3? That is my favorite novablast so far
@@kofuzi I think I will when my 3rd pair of 2s get old
I’m taking them for my long run tomorrow :-) looking forward to it.
hope you have a great run!
I bought cheap running shoes once, kept them too long, and got plantar fasciitis. Never again. These shoes are not for fashion, these are equipment designed to prevent injury. I've been running on Gel Kayano for years but am considering a shoe with more cushion, so this video was interesting, thank you.
I remember those early days when Nike even gave you some commemorative gold (?) plated shoes. Hopefully they weren’t upset with you expressing concerns during the Salazar scandal. Regardless, keep on staying true to yourself.
Well done analysis. At the end of the day, it remains subjective based on your goals. I chose the New Balance SC Trainer because I prefer a long distance cruiser, prioritizing comfort. It's also great at slower and recovery paces. In that sense, what is better?
yeah, if you change the question, the analysis changes. I'd probably pick the More v4 honestly, but the SC Trainer would win between SC Trainer vs Superblast in your scenario presented.
@kofuzi I actually have the more v4 too. They definitely overlap in use.
I tried on the More4 twice, with long slow runs in mind and can’t put my finger on why I disliked it. Is it because I’m so light and petite that it feels like way too much shoe even though it’s light in weight?
@Lev and Martha Polyakin-Aarons it's possible. I love the more v4 for recovery runs but prefer the slightly firmer but bouncy SC Trainer for long runs. If you are looking for soft and squishy but the more is too more, try the Novablast 3.
Recently got a larger sz alphafly at discount: $78. It has a very scratchy upper fabric not noticeable in my early models.
kofuzi, can i ask about what shoe roation should i buy with my superblast?
Fantastic Review, Coach K. THANKS!!! Question: I saw you running in snow with these shoes? I also saw your video clip a while ago related to Peregrine. What’s your commend for winter running when it snows say in downtown Chicago? Would SuperBlast work? Do I get Peregrine? Norda? Thanks!!!
Both shoes can work in the winter, but if it’s more than just a little slush on the ground, like if it’s icy, I’d probably reach for something with more grip and/or adjust the workout (or the workout calendar).
Living in the mountains of CO I agree with Mike that if there’s ice even under snow almost no shoes are safe. I bought the Peregrine and it works great on nice snowy surfaces. I found them to have ample traction going both up and down fairly steep snow covered hills. They’re fairly safe for walking carefully over ice patches but I’d never count on them for running on that sort of surface. The outsoles are quite tacky to the touch.
@@levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 Thanks to you and Coach K. Will think to get peregrine ice+, is that what you have do I get it right? Was thinking of Runshield and Believe in the Run website had a review of peregrine. Thanks!!!
I just bought a pair of vaporflys for $136 from flight club to be a training companion to my alphaflys. So depending on your size, check the sneaker resellers.
So I'm late to this video, but thank you for such a great in-depth review. I've been thinking about switching to the super blast as my long run, everyday trainers but I was concerned it wouldn't have the snap needed for tempo work. I've got Saucony endorphin speed fatigue - had a few pairs but didn't love how they responded to faster efforts. I have a dedicated tempo shoe but need something more versatile. You think this is better than the hoka Mach X? I've been doing long runs in the Mach 5. Thank you!
My hypothesis is that people who loved the Mach 5 will be underwhelmed by the Mach X for speed work
On the other hand, people who found the Mach 5 a bit too unstable or floppy will love the Mach X
For price and sale, depending on region and time, vaporfly and alphafly are my choice over superblast. However I would pick a non plate shoe for training rather a plate for race day. Too much plated running weekly is not suited for my mechanics. I had too much injury from the past. I think if you comparing rrp many shoe are over price. I am certainly not a rep person. Time will tell when distributor discounts this to reflect market price expectation.
The pricing is way below retail if people use ASICS occupational discount, which gives you 50% and 30% off of this shoe respectively.
This video has aged well, especially now with the Superblast price dropping $20 and the masses embracing it as the ultimate super daily trainer.
I have a 9 in size for the Vaporfly, what size is then recommended for this shoe?
I love the Superblast.
Hi Kofusi, very good review, what do you think about comparing the asics superblast VS the nike invincible run 2?
I ask you because I am hesitating to renew the invincible 3 or try these superblast for easy long runs. Thank you.
If you only want easy long run, Superblast is probably not what you want
@@kofuzi thanks for your answer
@kofuzi How about slow LR’s but many of which will include GMP miles which MYCOACH has been introducing big time for my Bos training block? And take into account pls that I’m tiny as you know!
When Nike "air" first appeared in the late 1970's it was the Tailwind which I got to try on in a shopping mall type store. It was "retailing" for about $100 dollars which was fairly astronomical then so I passed. But I scored a pair at a running specialty store which had been "returned" for around 50 and I soon found out why. The Tailwind was the worst designed show ever, a rigid footplate with a small air pad under the heel. KInd of narrow, the designer must have been a canoe inthusiast. I bailed quickly, can't remember what happen to the shoes, but my knees are still factory made which would not be the case if I'd continued with the "Tailwind." Anyway, Mr. Kofuzi, I as a lifetime runner I think that you have the best job in the world.
Hi Kofuzi, what do you think about saucony triumph 20 compare to Superblast? I still confuse to decide to buy these two. I want a shoe as daily trainer that suitable for easy long run. May you help me give your advise to choose between triumph 20 and Superblast. Thank you for advance.
I use them very differently. The triumph 20 is a max cushion shoe. The Superblast, I use for workouts
Great comparison. Sounds it's the most versatile elite trainer out there. Here's one for you: you have to choose either the Superblast or Metaspeed Sky/Edge for your next marathon. Which one do you take?
I mentioned specifically in the video that I missed having carbon at CIM, so I would prefer to race in the Metaspeed Sky Plus.
I also enjoy running regularly in carbon, which isn’t the case for some runners
@@kofuzi Missed that. Thanks man!
Hi! What would u choose for half marathon training and race day between this and the adios pro 3? Surprised i found an option to get the adios pros for cheaper than the super blasts haha
I like racing with carbon
Fairly new to running. Currently have the novablast 3 for easy days and Hyperion max for speed work and 5k races. Would you be against running a half marathon in the superblast? It’ll be my first race at that long of a distance.
I think it could be great! I also think the Hyperion max could be great
No heel slip on this shoe for you? I tried runners knot but I still struggled with it
Do you know if Asics will be releasing more colors anytime soon?
I heard there will be more colors, and all you have to do is look at the number of choices with the NovaBlast3 already to know there will at least be more options soon.
