For me that feeling of dread, that something really bad is going to happen really soon was make or break of the whole experience. And as you said - in Reload it's just not there.
Reload is definitely much more easy to pick up after something like p5, but FES literally feels different.

Great video man, i agree with almost everything! Except on the hangout events at the doorm. Speaking from experience sometimes i played a game or watched a movie with someone in a dorm i wasnt clise to and it felt normal, not best friends or anything. Plus the dorm events mikdly fix the issue of having nothing to do at night so there's that

I gotta say this is kinda my same thoughts on reload, and kinda my same experience with P3 overall. Just like you, I’m not really sure if Reload is necessarily my favorite video game of all time.
However, my personal favorite persona experience ever, in the whole entire franchise, is when I first played P3FES with major gameplay and graphic mods. It single handily became my favorite Persona experience period, and I wanted a future remake to replicate it - which Reload kinda does.

Idk locking the awnser (which was free in FES) for 35 dollars dosent seem that good... (also this game is 70 dollars jeez....)

I definitely get it, but I think having The Answer as dlc makes sense when remembering you originally had to buy a whole new game for it if you played original Persona 3
As for the pricing… yeah it’s not great but at this point I’ve accepted how expensive video games have gotten :/

    Hard disagree here.
Personally I felt that P3R actually _removed_ a whole lot that I used to enjoy about the original while instead adding an entirely different sense of style more in line with P5 instead. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing as such - P5 was stylish as hell! - but it really ended up being a way less atmospheric experience in my mind.
Where the original was creepy, intense and at times intentionally uncomfortable, this version is just... kinda overall pleasant and cool to look at, I guess? Where's the ongoing tension between the party members that never really goes away completely? Where's the in-your-face Memento Mori (RUclips doesn't like the actual term here, don't want my comment to get auto-deleted) imagery that is so relevant to the mythology and theming? Where are the disorientating stylistic choices in the cutscenes?
I don't know, P3R was really disappointing for me. It certainly plays more smoothly (arguably it's been made quite a bit too easy, even) and looks gorgeous, but it has lost _so_ _much_ character of the original release. Hell, I think I actually prefer P3P still - that would be the one I'd recommend a newcomer play first, tbh.
That said, _man_ that OST slaps hard.

I actually fully agree with all your complaints about P3R but I personally value gameplay a lot higher than presentation so Reload is just the version I like better.
That said I definitely did undersell how important the atmosphere is to the Persona 3 experience, & it was disappointing to see it be a lot worse in Reload. If Reload’s atmosphere matched the original it would be a near perfect video game in my eyes.
Also yes, that OST slaps hard.

@@DrewskiRose You know, that's an interesting point there - I generally consider myself someone that values gameplay over presentation as well, but now that I think about it, the Persona formula specifically is only really at its best in my mind when all aspects of the experience fire at full force.
When I want good gameplay in this style, my mind immediately goes to Nocturne, Strange Journey or SMT IV instead. Which is probably unfair - I think P5 and its remarkably low difficulty has led to some sort of disconnect in my mind.
I ought to give a Merciless playthrough a go at some point, maybe I'd enjoy that more, in P5 I just found that difficulty pretty tedious.
