Good on you to pick up All-City. I have the Chameleon Green Gorilla Monsoon. I love the attention to detail on AC bikes, so cool to have a bike that is super capable and looks great doing it.
I felt the same way about that Shimano front derailleur when I first started working on them. But now, I like them. You can get super precise adjustments and no chain rub. But, it is 100% over-engineered as many things are in the bike world.
Tiagra in Blue, I believe! That'd be an interesting comparison video--I don't really know the virtues of these two group sets on these two models.
Will you’re correct. The Tiagra bike is blue. I’m quite sure the finish on the GRX is nicer. Components aren’t something I fixate on too much. Cable disc vs. hydro? My druthers on that topic are well established.

I had an older Space Horse. Miss that one, as I do most of the ones I have moved on from. I need a smaller frame which back then they only offered in a 700c even for the small frames. My tourer is now a Joe Appaloosa which was definitely the right move for me. It’s not nimble, but I can go anywhere with confidence.

Front derailleurs. They have ONE job, and they can’t do that right. By the way, that’s the same cable routing as Ultegra. That’s no excuse, though.
It’s horrible. I just can’t see a reason for all that.
@@ThePsychicDerailleur It has some good reasoning from my understanding. The longer arm versions that preceded it were able to make contact with wide (think cx knobs) tires when chainstays were short - a hazard. The other reason is related if chain lines were getting pushed outward by disk brakes with the old parallelogram layout having reach limitations. This new-fangled one however it works is more capable across more frame configurations. It's mechanism is baffling to a degree. If front derailleurs don't disappear all together we may all get used to it and come to appreciate it.
