Emoni Bates biggest problem is that as a kid he was never actually coached, and what I mean by that is he was so good that his coaches just let him do whatever he wanted. Same thing that happen at Eastern Michigan. The issue for him when he got to Memphis was that he had to become a "system player" and has never in his life ever been asked to do that because he was always the center of attention his entire school career. Being asked to stand in the corner and wait to shoot 3's was the moon to him. Not to mention he was also pretty bad a defense.

He’s not bad. His game is a lot closer to Nick Young than say Kevin Durant, but thats still better than 99.9% of humans. His story is a testament to how important development and patience is at lower levels; he wouldve been drafted much higher had he played all four years of high school then played for Tom Izzo as originally planned. Having an entire AAU team built around YOU is also probably an issue, it takes away that hunger and the growth that comes with having to fight to be the top dog on your team. His jumper is pure and he has the size to grow in whichever direction he so chooses (I think he wants to become more of a point forward with the balls in his hands a lot, I think he his best served however playing as an off-ball SG who takes a ton of threes and defends on the other end a la JR Smith, Kyle Korver, and those types).
I would love to see this kind of video done for Amari Bailey as well. Bates is clearly talented and can have a good NBA career if he keeps improving like he has.
He’s either going to be the next Nick Young or MPJ. He reminds me of Bol Bol, and why he doesn’t get minutes. Both have skills, but those skills don’t translate into the flow of an offense. In Bol’s case he has above average recovery to make up for defensive mistakes, but he still gets out of position.
It actually makes me mad because people are acting like he was supposed to start right away and the Cavs are so dumb for not playing him😭 we all know his offensive skills but he lacks strength and needs to progress on defense. The Cavs were the only ones willing to take a chance on him, and they are taking the right route by developing him.
Glory to God in the Highest. Emoni Bates need to be honest with himself in reference to his weaknesses. Do a self examination, practice with professionals who encourage but hold you responsible for on and off court activities. Except honest criticism. Makeup your mind to allow your actions to express, that I want to be the best. Be accountable, surrounding yourself with people that epitomize the charteristics of who you want to be and comit yourself. Don't talk about it, be about it! "I am self disciplined" God Blessings Jesse Hines
Of course he can, he's just a baby. If I were him I'd start with conditioning by hitting the iron pile, running hills, sprints, core exercises . He's tall but doesn't look strong or athletic. Even though the NBA has changed, you still got to be strong especially at his height A couple of years getting into shape and staying in shape, watching film to find his shots and learning the team defensive schemes👍
Been saying it for a while: a lot of this young generation can flat out SCORE, but can't play pro basketball. They don't know how to move without the ball cuz they never had to do it throughout high school and AAU. They don't know how to read defenses, don't understand pace, spacing, angles, don't know how to pass etc. There's more to basketball than just 1v1 skills.
I said the same thing. Getting beat defensively off the dribble 30 feet from the rim by a 7'1" player and offensively settling for bad shots because he couldn't get to the rim. Bates peaked as a high school sophomore.
It’s never been a talent issue with Emoni, but extreme mismanagement. It’s always a red flag when pops tries to create his own academy and cash in on his son’s name. Let your boy have his moment. Reclassifying was a big mistake and also the college program he picked doesnt have nba level nutrition and strength training. Wishing Emoni the best, his story is not over
Every other player who put up a decent stat line is being called a generational talent. This word has lost all its meaning. There’s more generational prospect than there are draftees in the NBA draft ffs.
You’re overhyping this guy. We saw this same child prodigy track in LBJ-EXCEPT he lived up to and surpassed the hype. All this “unheard of” stuff only means YOU haven’t heard of it. It’s the same thing we heard about Wilt, Kareem and LBJ, just to name a few.
Wasn't his car, wasn't his weapon. Only thing he is guilty of is the traffic infraction, which was minor. However, there's no way my Cavs would've sniffed drafting him in the 2nd round without the setback so, it is what it is...

Already won the summer league title…
NBA title for Cleveland coming soon
Dreamland in Cleveland 😂
He'll be trade bait at best
bro this final fantasy music you had going on at the middle made me laugh
At first I wanted the Pistons to grab him, especially with the Duren connection… so glad we took Sasser instead though.
EDIT: I say that as a MSU alumni and a life long Pistons fan, but to be clear he is a Michigander and I’d love to see him become and all star someday
Ya and u guys are the worst team in nba history right now
@@nickkyy3383 Bobcats finished with 7 wins, we already have 8. Not sure you know what "worst" means.
@@TenThumbsProductions doesnt necessarily count because you guys had like 68
@@nickkyy3383 Will have more wins then the 04-05 Hawks, 86-87 Clippers, 09-10 Nets, 97-98 Nuggets, 92-93 Mavericks and the nine win 72-73 76ers… we won’t even have to have the lowest win total this season.

What’s crazy is that the Cavs need a scorer like Emoni at the 3 🫠
He’s not bad.
Yeeeah. Getting arrested for possessing a firearm, while stoned af is NOT normal part of adolescence.
In the south yeah it is
@@releasesasuke2001ignorance
depends on where u from lol😅
He’s either going to be the next Nick Young or MPJ. He reminds me of Bol Bol, and why he doesn’t get minutes. Both have skills, but those skills don’t translate into the flow of an offense. In Bol’s case he has above average recovery to make up for defensive mistakes, but he still gets out of position.
You can't place these kinds of expectations on a 14 year old kid. I hipe he can grow into these expectations but doubt it will ever happen for him.
This kid has crazy game. Probably would work well under pop with Wemby. Whoa!
Bro played like a rec random
Dump Garland and give that kid 24/7 development at PG.
I concur
It actually makes me mad because people are acting like he was supposed to start right away and the Cavs are so dumb for not playing him😭 we all know his offensive skills but he lacks strength and needs to progress on defense. The Cavs were the only ones willing to take a chance on him, and they are taking the right route by developing him.
He's a strange anomaly in that he has short arms for his height.
Bingo!!! His length has come into play, terrific height, but the length ain’t there
Compare his G League stats with all the rookies in draft class and see where he ranks???😮😮😮
He peaked in HS. It happens. Moving on.
Facts.
No.
He didn't peak in high school. He got in the drugs and that's what drug him down.
I love how highly touted players go to small schools. Why be just another player when you can be the man
Glory to God in the Highest.
His apology f up was top notch
He’s got a dead, empty look in his eyes always. He’s gonna do something horrific and get kicked out of the league.
thats ridiculous dude. you are ridiculous.
What kind of dumbass statement is this?
Love your videos
Thank you! Really appreciate your support. Let us know who you'd want to see next!🏀
Bro still cold, its merch
When shit hits the fan is you still a fan
This is basically the KD show on Apple TV
Of course he can, he's just a baby. If I were him I'd start with conditioning by hitting the iron pile, running hills, sprints, core exercises . He's tall but doesn't look strong or athletic. Even though the NBA has changed, you still got to be strong especially at his height
A couple of years getting into shape and staying in shape, watching film to find his shots and learning the team defensive schemes👍
He is a special player it will show soon
Exactly.
I thought is game against chet exposed his limitations.
His
I said the same thing. Getting beat defensively off the dribble 30 feet from the rim by a 7'1" player and offensively settling for bad shots because he couldn't get to the rim. Bates peaked as a high school sophomore.
Chet is a star level NBA player. pretty sure he exposed the entire NCAA
This just shows how great Lebron is
If he stops smoking, he might get his chance, but those lips get darker and darker each year.
He is a great player he is developing
He’ll be fine keep getting better put on some mass he’ll be in the league by 22
He should hire a butler just to hear him say, "Good evening, Master Bates."
I feel like some of these players forget this is a job and have to put in the work
I don’t think it’s fair to say how bad he was when he never was bad
It isn't pronounced Y-P-S-I, it is pronounced yipsy which is short for Michigan city Ypsilanti.
The media didn't find Jordan nor Kobe in Highschool.
That 3 spot for the cavs is up for the taking, i believe in emoni hes gonna be nice and he should get some opportunity soon
Insane upside for a 2nd picks. Has a chance to be deadly bench scorer for the Cavs
He could be a good player in the nba. I don’t think he’ll be an all star, but a possible starter at some point would be his ceiling.
Emoni will be a problem when he gets his full chance💪🏾.
Bradon miller is who we thought bro was gonna be
It’s never been a talent issue with Emoni, but extreme mismanagement. It’s always a red flag when pops tries to create his own academy and cash in on his son’s name. Let your boy have his moment. Reclassifying was a big mistake and also the college program he picked doesnt have nba level nutrition and strength training. Wishing Emoni the best, his story is not over
He'll be fine be patient
Every other player who put up a decent stat line is being called a generational talent. This word has lost all its meaning. There’s more generational prospect than there are draftees in the NBA draft ffs.
You’re overhyping this guy.
We saw this same child prodigy track in LBJ-EXCEPT he lived up to and surpassed the hype.
All this “unheard of” stuff only means YOU haven’t heard of it. It’s the same thing we heard about Wilt, Kareem and LBJ, just to name a few.
I still remember when they said Mikey was better LMAOOOO. Emoni really like that fr
Emoni is proof that making these kids famous at such a young age isn't good for them long term
Wasn't his car, wasn't his weapon. Only thing he is guilty of is the traffic infraction, which was minor. However, there's no way my Cavs would've sniffed drafting him in the 2nd round without the setback so, it is what it is...
Cool Video🔥🔥🔥
Yall reaching!!! EB will be AN ALL-STAR
People gotta understand the nba is the next level watever flew in high school n college wouldn’t fly unless got the right body n get use to that schedule n the physicality hate when people put pressure on him to be da next kd instead of being the first emoni bates
Emoni talent isn’t in question and isn’t the reason he isn’t getting time. His off court issues made him drop heavily, then by luck he went to a good team. Unfortunately(and a good thing at the same time) that his team is guard heavy. It’s some good names to learn behind but no chance he would have gotten playing time over Mitch, Garland, Levert, or Strus for different reasons hence why he signed a 2 way
@@334ben10 No No no
He wasn't ready for Division 1 basketball at all.If he went to Michigan State he would be coming off the bench and schedule and conference would have exposed him vs being AAC and MAC
Stop the cap🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@greggcrawford124 he wasn’t ready at all but yet avg 19/6 on overall good shooting his 2nd yr? He wasn’t ready at all but at Memphis was avg almost 15/4/3 and in around January started to fall off(when off the court started going on too)? Him coming off the bench mean he don’t have talent? Wtf are you talking about you acting like I said he was a top talent prospect or something🤦🏽♂️😂 y’all just wanting to talk “stop the cap”🤡😂
@@334ben10 No No and more no
That 19 and 6 came at a Mid Major with with a record of 8-24. The team is currently 9-13 right now. At Memphis his game was exposed after the Brooklyn Tournament vs Iowa State. He had good game here or rarely their before apparent back issue . Again he was not ready for college ball. The whole EMU offense was given to him. Big 10 is a different breed from the Mac and AAC. Stop being a coconut.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣
@@greggcrawford124 your just being dumb your not disproving anything I said. Fool why are you acting like was making him out to be elite or something. What I said WAS FACTS. Now your goalpost moving again because your point is wrong. He would not have put up the numbers he did if he wasn’t ready, the TEAM record isn’t a indicator of skill of a individual dunce😂 idc if you think he is good my point still stands he dropped because off court stuff OBVIOUSLY teams still believed he has potential
Who thought he should be the PG, like what was the coach thinking and what was he thinking that was the role for him.
bro what are we doing with this title and thumbnail man
