Anyone who thinks this is a terrible performance must not be very familiar with Julian or The Strokes. This seems pretty normal to me? I've been a fan for going on two decades and they've always had a "too cool for school" vibe - they are definitely not a band that will be crowd surfing or being super interactive with the audience. Julian is always kind of mumbly and weird on stage but that "detached cool" is part of the NYC music scene they came up in, inspired by guys like Lou Reed. Seems to me like perhaps the audience that was there just didn't know what they were getting and thought it was a different sort of band?
First of all he came 30 minutes late and didnt even bother apologizing. He was drunk or high or both. And not just a little. Very much. Then he started saying racist danish words and telling people they shouldnt belive in themself. And then he said he didnt even wanted to be their but didnt have a choice. How can this ever be a good performance?
@@erikfrostbondorf1466 bands are often late. Guns n Roses used to go on HOURS late. It's not ideal but it's not unheard of. Don't know about the other stuff other than there may have been a language barrier at play and Julian's dry humor may have been misinterpreted and taken literally. I doubt he (intentionally) used racist language.

Most of the ones who thinks this suck, coming from The New Abnormal, so mehh, this performance remember me the $2 bollar Bill concert or The Lollapalooza Chicago 2019, it's so good for really Strokes fans.
I was at this concert. Yes they were late, and he said some weird shit. But for the most part, the performances and execution of the songs was actually pretty great! I saw them before at a different concert and he definitely sang worse then. I think he sounds pretty great here on this video also, so i don’t see why people thought it was so terrible hahah

Hvordan kan det være de blev savet så hårdt over af pressen?! Det ligner en helt standard The Strokes koncert.
Måske det unge anmelderkorps havde forventet Freddie Mercury agtig teater akrobatik på scenen, men de er jo bare et strung out NYC band. Det er vel ikke det værste man kan være.

@@nosoyalguien407 jajajaja fue un show fantástico! Jajaja el estaba muy contento haciendo bromas en Danés que habla un poco, la banda sonó espectacular y hasta improvisaron tipo jam en el medio. No hubo nada, el solo usaba su humor sarcástico y oscuro nada mas. Saludos! 😊😊

It seems like it was pretty fucked.
Ye it was a terrible concert, his vocal was mediocre based on past concerts, that made it just barely manageable to watch, but he had no energy and seemed like an alcoholic, he completely killed the crowds mood, only people having fun was those who was drunk as hell. I was in the pit, scene show also sucked. I’ve been to many concerts in my life, and this was the worst I’ve ever been to. Absolutely sucked I laid 3-hrs in queue to get in the pit. And ditched going to the Muse on Tinderbox for this… Huge mistake. I’ll probably never go to a Strokes concert again. They were massive disrespectful, that’s not how you should treat fans.
People saying critics don’t understand sarcasm is dumb, Julian even said a danish racist word used for immigrants: “krakkamut”.
Many people left. It was so weird for every track the whole pit moved a half meter forward, cause people were leaving. Never seen so many ppl leave pit area before in my life with such a big artist.
I also left before the last 3-tracks, to save myself from depression from watching my 2nd favorite artist making a fool out of themself.
The other band members also seemed pretty zombie, they played well, but stood like they were in a coma throughout the whole concert.
Those who think this was a great concert must have had very little concert experience to compare with. Lucky for you. For people like me who for instance have seen Twenty One Pilots crowd surfing with their drums meanwhile playing and climbing 15-meter tall towers with no security to scream out loud while being seen by everyone. Had our jaws dropped by seeing how shitty a concert can actually be made out to be.
