Wait with for rent could you actually try making a little kingdom, with little farms with horse ranch with stables and cottage living for other animals? If there was a castle it’d have to be small but it’d be so cute!!!!
Did I just finished watching her build this castle live for over five hours? Yes. Will I watch the speed build even though I already saw it? Absolutely.
As a historian, like you @lilsimsie, the kitchen being in the basement is actually historically acurate. Most old world castles, palaces, etc. have the kitchen and servant quarters out of view of the main lordly spaces. Great job Kayla!
I was watching a history video of an actual castle and the kitchen wasn't even in the castle. It was in a building in next to it and the dining hall was on the second floor of the castle! So they had to carry everything inside, bring it up, and keep it warm! Kayla's basement kitchen is a old cooks fantasy dream.
I think it depend on when the castle was build we are talking about 1200 years time period and at least 7-12 different cultures. (like Sweden we have full blown castle even through the castle age started when Sweden was in the Viking age Viking did not build many castles if any). early castle was just 2 room over 2 floor whit the lower been dinner/living that at night got turned into a mass bed room. whit the upper level been the king/queen + child all in one room bedroom, trechery and office.
Hearing Kayla talk about how people daydream about the sims reminds me how lately since life's stressful I have a hard time falling asleep cuz my mind is just racing and makes me anxious. Lately the best way to fall asleep is to think about my sims save and what characters I want to make or what additions I want to add to the house I just renovated or cool new storylines for my current sim. Its much easier to fall asleep when your not thinking about that embarrassing thing you did or what you need to do the next day. The sims is a great escape even when your not actively playing it
Sims team honestly should do more niche build kits. Even tho it wasnt very big (even for a kit) they were kinda smart in giving us windows that could be "stacked". Even if at first it seemed like they were just trying to find excuses to give us less items. It actually made the windows more versatile for both large and small castle builds. I think they executed that well.
i feel like this is what kits are made for! niche ideas that not everyone will love. Kits shouldn't be for tubes of toothpaste and bookshelves that should've been in the home decorator pack...

I think this is the essence of what kits should be - really niche, specialty content that not everyone would want but contains some essentials for certain types of players
Idea! Castle and a village on one lot. You can have a village square and things in the middle for your villagers to do. Create cottages for your villagers using the for rent pack and you could put little storefronts and stalls to make a village market! With little lanterns and things surrounding it. Omggg that would be amazing! LIVE YOUR MEDIEVAL LIFE, KAYAK. 😁😁
omg this build is so good,.... you should use the for rent pack to make a little castle and a bunch of cottages and farming spaces and maybe shops all on one rlly big lot, and then maybe you can do a lets play on it
I'm currently building a church that's been converted into a house, found a cool looking floorplan online as inspiration. It's coming along super nicely, it's in Henford on Bagley, fits right into the neighborhood. This has been a super fun kit so far, it's surprising.
It made me smile when you said you used a LEGO model as inspiration for this build, because I actually watch your Sims videos while I build with LEGO! The inspiration goes both ways. :)
Who could be mad about long videos?? I love them! Specially on Sundays when I have more free time, but even on weekdays I can pause it and finish it later if I don't have the time to watch it all in one sitting. Keep them coming, they're great and it is so much fun when you enjoy what you're building ❤❤❤❤.
hey sorry to bother you but i’m sick of hearing about the war so i’ve been reading kayla’s comments before watching the video in case she talks about it, but this one isn’t so clear. could you possibly let me know since i’m guessing you’ve watched it already?? thanks so much!!! ❤❤❤
@@yaelsyoutube2687 We are privileged to be "sick of hearing about the war" instead of being in it; also it's not a war it is a genocide, and it is in desperate need of being talked about on any person's platform possible, thought about, and discussed. Ok. I wrote some comments earlier replying to this that were too harsh. I'm going to try again because I'm assuming you're a kid and don't understand what makes this comment so upsetting. With that being said, this is not ok. I acknowledge that it can be difficult and disturbing to hear about genocide, but Kayla is doing the right thing by bringing this to more people's attention and the VERY least we can do is listen. Yes, re-create the Sims medieval castle and also the castle doll house in this game. To start. I'd want so so so much more but these are good starters.
Hi Simsie! Just wanted to say, the tab-tour at the end was really nice to me! It really gives me a full idea of what the building looks like, please do more if you can / want to
You know what I just noticed: the German language is sooo specific cause we have different words for the castle type you build which we call „burg“ and was mainly used for defenses and then we have a different word „schloss“ which is used for queens and princes and stuff. I actually visited a „Schloß Burg“ once and it was like really special cause it had „queens“ chambers (more like castle ladies chamber) and glass windows but also defensive systems and a jail. It just occurred to me that „burg“ can not be translated so I needed to share😂
In a castle era a drop toilet or chamber pots would’ve made sense but you could also look at it as a refurbished castle which people still live in. In that case the Victorian looking toilets with the high tanks and pull flush would probably be fitting
Fyi, moats used to be intentionally filled with waste and nasty things. The monarch would actually have an indoor toilet and it would literally have a hole that drops directly into the moat. It was not only intended to be hard to cross but also so extremely disgusting that no one would want to wade through the water.
The whole part about daydreaming about a sims kingdom as a kid. I did the exact same thing! I used to imagine I was designing an expansion pack called “Ye Olde Sims” and it was like homesteading and farming in the 1800s.
From a historical perspective the architecture resembles neo gothic mansions that they were build in the 19th century inspired by medieval architecture and neo classical symmetrical architecture (just like the palace of Westminster for example) so it actually makes perfect sense that the building would have plumbing and relatively modern appliances. 😂
I didnt even watch anyone make anything before snatching the castle kit up because I just love fantasy stuff and knew i could use it for like witches cottages or something.
trestle tables were very common for things like feasts and could be packed away to make room for other activities. This could done in game by just popping the tables into the family inventory to make space for dancing in the hall.
This is absolutely INCREDIBLE! I am so in love with this Castle. This is your most beautiful build yet. Great job. I wish the Sims team would bring back the Medieval version. They could come out with a pack with clothes, build items and stuff so you could play like you're in those times and they should considering they have a Castle kit now. Maybe it's a hint of things to come. Oh Kayla, this is beautiful. In real life, I'd probably get so lost trying to find each room. lol. Castles still exist in other countries like Ireland. Would be fun to see one. Wonderful job.
thank you so much for fundraising for Palestine, it's important we keep Palestine on our minds and try to help out in any way possible. Don't feel bad for asking people to donate, you're doing it for an amazing cause.
It occurs to me, you could use the castle kit and For Rent to create one of those fancy castle hotels. In the UK there's a hotel chain which is adults only where they do hobby classes and stuff and they're usually in old fancy houses and castles and stuff
Knowing EA it would probably be at least three packs and medieval people would still have phones, either because of bugs or because they wouldn't even bother changing the code 😅
Love this!! I'm a free player so won't be playing this pack but love to see it used. In English castles they would put secret toilet rooms in the corner of bedrooms for the Lords and lady's. Inside would be a loo with a shoot that would go outside. Some would have the shoot going right down to the moat some would literally just go outside so the business would run down the castle 🤢. Not sure what century this was though, the doors to get in are almost impossible to see as it would be decorated the same as the others as its shameful to have to use the toilet.
That's a cool castle built. Well done! A lot of opportunities with the castles. Like you mentioned, you can have a giant lot with a main house and a lot of different small houses to create your own little kingdom you are the landowner of with the Rent Pack capabilities and assigning lots to Sims. Or make a big Museum Castle with dining or lunch facilities and a gift shop for example. I like the longer/bigger builds. It requires a different look and thought to make it work out.
Oh I totally felt sick but that's not your fault 😄! I'm super impressed with the furnishings on this one. Part of me is toying with using it as a modern honeymoon destination with a couple of tweaks but we'll see... I don't do the "new pack, new gameplay" thing but I do try to highlight features of new packs in my LP eventually and honeymoon in a castle makes sense. I have a bunch of rentals in the world now but I still have to visit Tomarang too and that could also be a fun honeymoon spot.
It would be so cool if she did a letsplay with this build. It obviously wouldn't go to waste since its on the gallery, but her large builds are expecially fantastic and I personally feel like it would be cool if she played with them more. She's stated many times that she's more of a build person than a person who plays with the sims, so I understand why she doesn't play with her builds often. THIS ONE IS SO COOL THOUGH!! Imagine playing the decades legacy challenge with this build!!!
I just watched the tour and I'll watch the speed build tomorrow because it's kinda late here, but this looks AMAZING! I can't wait to see the building process with all the explanations
i feel so validated by knowing that more people daydream about sims! i literally used to make story lines in my head about gameplay. or like sit and just think it all through after i finished standardized testing in school. and before i got ANY sims games i used to watch people make sims 2 music videos on youtube 😅.
as someone who plays A LOT of historical gameplay, especially medieval or prehistoric eras, this kit was so cool to put with existing things from get together, get famous, vampires, etc., to create more realistic castles and medieval builds, but im kinda sad that we aren't going to get a bigger medieval pack :(
I was sitting in class after test and daydreaming about sims :) This right here is why you are favorite sims youtuber to many of us and why you have 880m views of your videos. :) If I dare say much more then rest of sims youtubers.
There is a book series by Samantha young based in Scotland and it’s about a fancy club/hotel that is in a renovated castle. I think that’s a cool concept for a build! Plus you can add more modern elements and set it up using for rent.
I love that we have the rental pack, I wanna build a small castle on a 64x64 lot, and houses around it and rent them out, and make a whole kingdom to play in on the same lot
I’d love to see you do a renovation of this with the storyline of rich family buys and modernizes. Make it very gaudy! Kinda like the DuPonts buying Montpelier (James Madison’s plantation). Basically new money buying an old money house.
Loved this. I wish there was more kitchen. I imagine something like this had a separate kitchen for cooking stuff for royalty/nobles, and another servant's kitchen where they chop the meat or place the freshly harvested vegetables before moving them into the proper kitchen upstairs. Although maybe really older castles don't have that. Idk. I don't have a history degree. Hehe
I have both of the Sims Medieval games. I LOVED them!! I still love playing them! It makes me wish there was more to this castle pack than just exterior design stuff. I wish there was interior castle/medieval stuff and royalty outfits and maybe even a royalty world as well…so instead of this being a kit, it should have been a game pack or even an expansion pack.
Simsie you should have your legacy air for the bell family live in a castle. I think it would be hilarious you could make the inside look a little modern but the idea is they moved into an old castle. My friend from Europe actually lives in an old castle. I think you should definitely take advantage of this kit and have your next legacy air from the Bell family live in a castle!!!
I feel like you’d enjoy the ultimate decades challenge. I play it with a royal family but it’s so much fun with farmer families, fisher families etc. I’m on Gen 5 year 1364 and it’s such chaos
I built the Villareal Family a "Castle" in one of my save files and it basically symbolizes that the family has seen better days lol. The ruins surrounding the lot used to be the old walls back in medieval times and the Villareals live in the remnants of a once glorious Castle that is nowadays little more than a glorified estate :D
Wait with for rent could you actually try making a little kingdom, with little farms with horse ranch with stables and cottage living for other animals? If there was a castle it’d have to be small but it’d be so cute!!!!

Kayla giving us real design history that i just learned in my history of interior design class, also didn’t know she had a history degree
This looks so amazing! Love how you do the servants quarters stuff especially
Looks so good! I would like to see more historical/medieval/fantasy builds! They just look amazing
I just watched the tour and I'll watch the speed build tomorrow because it's kinda late here, but this looks AMAZING! I can't wait to see the building process with all the explanations
This castle is so so cool. I’d definitely live here if I could afford it! I also love the smaller room off the library with the book of days :)
i feel so validated by knowing that more people daydream about sims! i literally used to make story lines in my head about gameplay. or like sit and just think it all through after i finished standardized testing in school. and before i got ANY sims games i used to watch people make sims 2 music videos on youtube 😅.
as someone who plays A LOT of historical gameplay, especially medieval or prehistoric eras, this kit was so cool to put with existing things from get together, get famous, vampires, etc., to create more realistic castles and medieval builds, but im kinda sad that we aren't going to get a bigger medieval pack :(
I was sitting in class after test and daydreaming about sims :)
This right here is why you are favorite sims youtuber to many of us and why you have 880m views of your videos. :) If I dare say much more then rest of sims youtubers.
There is a book series by Samantha young based in Scotland and it’s about a fancy club/hotel that is in a renovated castle. I think that’s a cool concept for a build! Plus you can add more modern elements and set it up using for rent.
This castle is truly amazing Kayla!!! I can picture me walking around and taking awesome pictures in the courtyard. I really loved it!
you should be proud of this kayla! really impressive use of the sims 4s limited category haha and the chamber pot was a great touch!
watching the tour in tab mode was SO satisfying! I would love to watch every tour this way 🤩
This is so impressive. I definitely need to add it to my world once I get the castle pack. Great job Kayla!
I love that we have the rental pack, I wanna build a small castle on a 64x64 lot, and houses around it and rent them out, and make a whole kingdom to play in on the same lot
i love the long building videos! i been trying to build my own castle but i haven’t had time so i’m living vicariously through you
I’d love to see you do a renovation of this with the storyline of rich family buys and modernizes. Make it very gaudy! Kinda like the DuPonts buying Montpelier (James Madison’s plantation). Basically new money buying an old money house.
I love the tours at the end where you go through tab mode!
Hehe
gotta love them speedbuilds
I have both of the Sims Medieval games. I LOVED them!! I still love playing them! It makes me wish there was more to this castle pack than just exterior design stuff. I wish there was interior castle/medieval stuff and royalty outfits and maybe even a royalty world as well…so instead of this being a kit, it should have been a game pack or even an expansion pack.
Love watching your videos, I honestly learn so much about building from watching. You definitly inspire a LOT as well.
I loved that you did the tour like that! Made me feel like I was actually inside. Awesome ❤
2 billion is my gestimate, also love ur vod, the castle looks epic!
i’ve been binge watching simsie and i’m now about to watch this video and build in the sims for the first time in months :)
I LOVE the long build videos! Genuinely, they're my favorite of your content
I feel like you’d enjoy the ultimate decades challenge. I play it with a royal family but it’s so much fun with farmer families, fisher families etc. I’m on Gen 5 year 1364 and it’s such chaos
I'm so stoked to see the CC that comes out to accompany this kit 😍😍😍😍😍😍
I thoroughly enjoyed the final walkthrough!! You are so creative and talented!! Thank you for all you do ❤
I built the Villareal Family a "Castle" in one of my save files and it basically symbolizes that the family has seen better days lol. The ruins surrounding the lot used to be the old walls back in medieval times and the Villareals live in the remnants of a once glorious Castle that is nowadays little more than a glorified estate :D
