At first i was wondering why they decided to go with koby"s increased role instead of just letting him not meet luffy until later but I'm glad they decided that THIS was the point in which they would depart from each other until he got training. It developed their friendship more and let koby see the true colors of both the marines and pirates (like luffy)

Not gonna lie, I actually glad that my boy Coby got more screen times and even we see how Marine's life look like in his POV. We mostly see it through Luffy's POV in manga and anime but never in another side. But him being a true MVP on Usopp's story in the show doesn't make sense because in anime, Usopp eventually can defeat Black Cat Pirates on his own with the help of Straw Hats + his 3 little comrades (they didn't even show those kids in the show)
The marines didn't really do anything in Usopp's story though, but I agree because personally seeing Koby suddenly be brave was kind of odd but here it's just right.

I loved what the live action did with Coby and Helmeppo. They're infinitely more developed characters by the end of the East Blue saga here than they were in the manga, and they provided a very much needed commentary and alternate perspective on what it was like to be in the marines. Instead of just getting over his anxieties in one arc, we see Coby build up his confidence throughout East Blue. We even get a ton of bonding between Helmeppo and Coby. I also loved how Coby's journey paralleled Luffy. I'm not the biggest fan of some of the changes in the live action but this change has to be my favorite one.
I’m not a fan of the original anime, but in this adaptation, Koby was actually the first friend Luffy had made after sailing from home (from the flashbacks they gave us anyway lol). The hug was so sweet!
So, maybe in Vegapunk arc, Coby and Luffy will work together to defeat Blackbeard just like how Garp and Roger work together to defeat Rock D. Xebes many years ago. And Coby will be a future admiral and might be served peace between Marines and Pirates.
This is perfect ending for both side. 1) Coby and Luffy achieve their dreams. 2) Coby gained trust from Garp and trained by him. 3) Luffy gained crewmates and their trust as friend and crew. 4) Garp know this is not his era for him to be marine and choose to train coby and his friend (i forgot his name). Everything is perfect for the ending , there's no hole. I wonder how smokey looks like in S2.
I actually think this is a a change I like in the live action. Coby giving Luffy his wanted poster arcs back to Luffy telling him he wanted one back when the first met. Besides we’ve seen how it went before no need to run it back the exact same
I really loved this part of Luffy having his reward, which means that we will see more adventures of Luffy and his nakamas in the sea to get the One Piece
I did expect Luffy to return Koby's goodbye with (actually I heard Ta Ta for Now being the more natural expression but that's Tigger) but a see you later. Now I doubt they will have the same dynamic as Garp and Roger as I theorize Roger was Luffy's father and he is the One Piece)

If they reach season 4 in the Water 7 Saga, Koby will be like a different person. I would like an explanation for that.

I laughed harder at this than I probably should have.🤣

I love that the line itself is humorously ironic but the delivery and scene play it totally straight because that's exactly what Luffy always wanted.
Coby learned there are many different types of pirates and not all of them are criminals beyond in name only.
