In towns near the sea and river estuaries, you can actually see the fishermen returning from the sea super early in the morning and loading all the fishes and seafoods to be distributed to the wet markets in their states. My town in Johor has one such market as we're very closed to the sea, so people come as early as 4am to get the freshest of fishes and seafoods to cook for the breakfast and lunches. When I used to live in Kuantan, there used to be small shops opens at 12am selling cheap meals especially Nasi Dagang specifically for the fishermen that returning to the shores.

The old woman where you buy mineral water at the beginning of the video says she is from Sarawak. Sarawak borders Sabah and Brunei, part of Borneo. Water melon in Malay wee call it Tembikai. Sepang is the district located in the southern part of the State of Selangor. Nasi Ganja was first introduced in Ipoh, Perak. Basically it is Nasi Kandar as found in Muslim Indian restaurants. Named Nasi Ganja, supposedly you will be addicted to eating more. It is a title deliberately created by the seller because most people know what cannabis is but in Malaysia many people do not know its advantages in medicine. Ganja has been mentioned in the ancient Malay historical text "Sulalatus Salatin, which tells the life of the Sultan, magnates and people of Malacca which is believed to have been written in the 15th century. Among the things written, "You already know that ganja is intoxicating, why do you eat it too,"
The sellers use opium seeds (kaskas) in their cooking to give it a 'kick'. The use of the word 'ganja' here implies that people are addicted to the food. 2 years back police raided a place I've been to many times (not in KL) because they felt 'weird' & sleepy after they had lunch. They found that the staff had some cooking 'herbs' but nothing illegal 😂
Leaving my cold country the Netherlands for KL tomorrow. Last time I was there was a few weeks before the outbreak of Covid😅 I missed Msia a lot. You should visit the Netherlands once. The food is bad 😂 But the vibe is great 😊
There are many jetties in Malaysia where fish traders buy fish to bring to fresh markets like this, jetty banting, port dickson, malacca, linggi etc etc. but if its from different states you need a permit to bring the fish interstates or else you wouldn’t be able to sell
The reason they call 'nasi ganja' is to indicate that their rice is very deliceous and can be very addictive. The term I think originate in Ipoh, a city about 3 hrs driving north of KL.
Very nice market Christ. I have been there twice located in Chow kit area. Actually most locals buy their groceries there. It’s not a tourist area but time to time you can see some tourists too. The dragon fruit actually the red colour flesh is more sweet than the white ones and contain more vitamins. Anyway I hope you have enjoy your 3 weeks in KL. I hope to see your Sri Lanka videos soon. Take care bro and stay safe. God bless!
10:12 He was smoking, that’s why he quickly threw it to the ground once you filmed him. It’s against the law to smoke in public places in Malaysia, he would’ve been fined rm10k (more than usd2k) 😅 I guess that’s why he was reluctant to chit chat after that 😆
22:08 The dude that comes out of the store and starts walking behind you looked shady Chris. The way his eyes locked on your camera make me doubt his intentions. He quickly changes his demeanor and decides to abort mission as soon as you start talking to the vendor. Just be careful out there my friend I know you know what's up.
